Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

Elton John - "Rock of the Westies"

Not usually considered one of EJ's best, however I like it quite a bit. And it contains one of my favorite EJ songs - "I Feel Like a Bullet (in the gun of Robert Ford)"

Elton John - "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy"

It's, uh, Fantastic!

Getz/Gilberto AP

Chicago VIII

George Shearing Bossa Nova

The Paul Desmond Quartet Live

And on now Coltrane Ballads AP

The Beatles Something New Something New 1964 mono. After a few tone control adjustments on the C52, most of the scratches and pops are gone. Add some mid bass that was never there and it's just like the Magnavox console we had.

Big smiles :)

Fel kuti - gentleman 1973

Fela kuti - rofororo fight 1972

Both albums given to me on my 50th by seperate friends.

Pere Ubu - Dub Housing. Fire Records reissue/remaster 2018, originally Crysalis 1978

Pere Ubu - New Picnic Time. Fire Records reissue/remaster 2017, originally Crysalis 1979

Pere Ubu - Worlds in Collision. Fire Records reissue/remaster 2018, originally Fontana 1991

Seems I’m stuck on spinning this set every couple weeks. Really good SQ/pressing. Not sure how I was exposed to these guys back in the 90’s, but they just ‘grabbed my attention’, and made me listen. Still have that effect on me. Not exactly sure why.

Lush - Ciao! best of. 4AD 2 LP gatefold, limited edition red vinyl 2015

Lush is still one of my favorites.  On vinyl 4AD had many Porky Prime Cut masterings.

Beatles - Abbey Road

1969/1972 Apple Reissue

Sounds every bit as good or better than any of the recent remasters.

That sounded so good, more Neil….

Neil Young - On The Beach. Reprise 1974

Godfathers-Love Is Dead(EP) Side 1/2

Fishbone-It's A Wonderful Life(EP) Side A/B SQ Audiophile

Claudia Schmidt-ST Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Bruce Springsteen-Born In The U.S.A. Side 1

Gary Morris-Stones Side 2

Al Stewart-Year Of The Cat Side B

Aerosmith-Rocks Side 1

Al Di Meola-Casino Side 2

With the exception of the Godfathers EP everything had very good SQ. Ms. Schmidt takes the SQ Crown over the Fishbone EP due to the slightly aggressive nature of the recording

@bkeske

have you heard that disc?  I always forget to change the belt position on the MMF 7 to 45 speed before I play it.  Getting old I guess...

@ltmandella

No I haven’t, but as a fan of guys like Herb Ellis and Barney Kessel, would like to hear it. I have none of his LP’s.

Will save him on Tidal to check out.

Faces - A Nod Is As Good As A Wink... To A Blind Horse.  Not so great on the "audiophile" scale, but man, what a great record!

Britten conducts Britten - Symphony For Cello And Orchestra, Op.68 & Haydn - Concerto In C For Cello And Orchestra. English Chamber Orchestra w/Mstislav Rostropovich, cello. London 1964

@big_greg “nod” is a really good one, wish one of the audiophile pressers would remaster that one.

Just arrived today:

John Coltrane-John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman 2022 Impulse Acoustic Sounds

Jean Martinon conducts Saint-Saëns - Symphony In A / Symphony In F "Urbs Roma". Orchestre National de la ORTF. Angel 1975

Weather Report - Heavy Weather. Another CBS Master Sound 1/2 speed mastered release. Sounds great to my ears.

Rolling Stones / Beggars Banquet
1968 London

Haven’t played this in a very long while, had the urge for Street Fighting Man but when Stray Cat Blues and Salt Of The Earth came on, well, it deserves more playing time here.

RE: Faces,

The box set from a few years ago is very good. I think from the original master tapes.

Traffic / Shootout At The Fantasy Factory
1972 Island

@slaw Good to see you here, hope things are going well for you. Missing your posts. Cheers, Brother!

👍

Yes / The Yes Album
1971 Atlantic

I wish the guitar finale on Starship Troopers (Würm) could have gone another 5 minutes.

Just got the Acoustic Sounds remake of Jimi Hendrix "Are You Experienced."  Totally remastered on premium vinyl.  Better than Qobuz version. Listening on my Well-Tempered Reference TT.  Extremely quiet background.  No obvious pops or clicks.

Good to know @dougthebiker . I wasn’t as excited about this stereo version. Wish I’d gotten the mono.

True, mono would get rid of that very strange decision to put Jimi’s voice in only one channel on the first cut on each side.
