!!!OK OK - I'm Big Enough To Admit I Was DEAD WRONG!!! Class D Doesn't Always Suck!!! [[regardless of the mains voltage.]] I guess Mr. Creek has never experienced a Philippines brownout. Or maybe he is being clever, because 0 x 2 is still ZERO ;)
ATC SCM150 Amp and Preamp recommendations fair enough, I would not argue with your preference. And I agree flexibility in choice of amps is a good thing. However your point that I was addressing was how actives could possibly sound better. What electrical components or characteristics ...
ATC SCM150 Amp and Preamp recommendations [[I don't see how the active version could sound better ]] no analog crossover to eat watts, ring, distort etc.?
!!!OK OK - I'm Big Enough To Admit I Was DEAD WRONG!!! Class D Doesn't Always Suck!!! Let us know how it sounds during a brownout! That would be the amp I would want for the phils

Pass....Accuphase....or...... I really, really enjoy the sound of my Musical Fidelity A1-2008. It is a class a amp, 35 wpc. Gets hot as hell in the summer here in Sin City though. Out of production but MF recently released a 2023 or 4 version of that amp... I compare my 200...
Your journey with lower-watt tube amps -- Can a kit be good enough? Package Has Disappeared in USPS System [[I will never use the USPS system]] Except if you apply that criterion to any current commercial shipping system you will be relegated to hand carrying you stuff. They all lost or destroy your stuff. All of them...
What are you using to clean LP album covers? Distilled water with a tiny bit of surficant in the ultrasonic bath. Unbelievable how quiet the records are after ultrasonic cleaning. I do have a spin-clean and will use it occasionally if I get a really dirty used LP from the Bay.
Some thoughts on dust covers @lewm Yes I do not shout while playing, but the MUSIC PLAYING BACK certainly does, and would definitely be feeding back into the cartridge. If you do not want to believe there is feedback distortion, try this. You need two TTs. Setup the ...
What were your favorite gear additions in 2024? KORG DSD 10R for FINALLY completing my LP, Cassette, and Reel to Reel archiving project... (I hope)
Solid state amp that tube fan can be happy with? For me, it was my Musical Fidelity A1-2008 class A SS integrated (in HT mode) comparing with my Transcendent Sound T8-LN 25 wpc OTL amp. The OTL wins in some ways, the Class A wins in other ways I was pleasantly surprised (amazed?) at how great ... |
