Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO

Tower Of Power-Tower Of Power 1973 WB

Initially started the evening with Zep In Through the Out Door from the box set, made it less than 8 minutes. I try to listen to LZ vinyl occasionally but find I just don’t enjoy it any more. Probably the worst sounding vinyl I own-and I own a fair amount of Zep. Never heard a Classic Records Quiex Zeppelin, would like to someday.

Some great music being turntabled today.

Egberto Gismonti - Circense
1980 EMI (Brazil)

Metallica - The $5.98 $15.99 (inflation, yikes!) EP, Garage Days Re-visited.

Szell conducts Tchaikovsky - Capriccio Italien, Op. 45 / Borodin - Polovetsian Dances From "Prince Igor" / Rimsky-Korsakov - Capriccio Espagnol, Op. 34 / Mussorgsky - Dawn On The Moskva River From "Khovantchina" (Prelude To Act 1). The Cleveland Orchestra. Columbia Odyssey reissue, originally 1958

Rod Stewart-Smiler Side 1

Boz Scaggs-Slow Dancer Side 1

Nancy Wilson-Now Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Barbra Streisand-Yentl Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Jefferson Starship-Earth Side A

Yes, Led Zep was the SQ chump tonight. Ms. Wilson takes the SQ crown tonight despite a minor digital edge. For all the jokes "Feelings" has endured for 45+ years it's not a bad song or album. Is it great? No, but many people even some audiophiles praise lesser music.

Back from a week of skiing in Breckenridge, CO. Haven't listened to an LP in two weeks due to tossing out the old sofa and waiting for the replacement. Finally! First record after this break...

Matthew Sweet - "Girlfriend" - Intervention Records - Artist-approved 2xLP expanded edition.

From earlier:

The Montfort Singers – There'll Come A Day (Glasgow 1966)

...

Julie Andrews – The Lass With The Delicate Air (RCA 1957)

...

Melanie – Madrugada (Neighborhood 1974)

...

Shirley Collins, Davy Graham – Folk Roots, New Routes (4 Men With Beards 2010 RP 1964)

Bonny Light Horsemen

The atmosphere, the sound, the tunes, the tone all wonderful.

@boxer12 @bkeske - thanks guys... was good to see so many old friends come togther to celebrate a great guy who lived a robust life.

@spiritofradio  - Thanks for the welcome back. I've need to get back in the vinyl groove. Too many distractions ATM...

Last night's goings on...

Beethoven- Symphonie n6 opus 68 Pastorale
Denon KS-7040 an early digital recording LP of light Spanish/Continental jazz from (and all in Japanese) Japan ????
Lorena McKennett - Lost Souls
Ennio Morricone - soundtrack to The Mission
Steve Hackett- Boyage of the Acolyte (side 2)
King Crimson- Lizard

@reubent  Tom, I wasn't aware that you are a skier.  Right on, dude!  I have been skiing for 49 years and have only missed 2 seasons (due to injury and my mother's dying process).  Welcome back, glad you are safe and spinning some vinyl.  Another great pleasure in life.

Joel, my skiing history is just a couple of years short of yours, although I don't ski as many days annually as you. My son has grown up taking a ski trip to Utah or Colorado every years since age 4. He's 18 now and headed to Engineering School this August at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO. He's living my dream, and I'm happy for him. What an opportunity for a great education and an incredible life experience, about an hour from Summit County ski areas.

Dug this one out and dusted it off:

Vangelis - China = 中國 1979 French Polydor

Jimi Hendrix  -  Electric Ladyland   Reissue by the Jimi Hendrix Company.  I need to clean my original and compare.  Though they say on the album sticker that it was produced from the original master tapes, this reissue sure sounds digital to my ears.

Procol Harum  -  Home   From 1970 so it was played on my parents Magnavox console, a few years before I got my first real high fidelity music system.  A bit of vinyl noise (actually, quite a bit) but wonderful music.  You can certainly hear Robin Trower on this one.

Jennifer Warnes  -  Another Time, Another Place   Impex sure knows how to produce a quality piece of vinyl.  Music is very good, but not her best.

Midnight Oil / Diesel and Dust
1987 Columbia

SQ decent on Eagles but outstanding on the Bad Company and Midnight Oil LPs.

SRV - Texas Flood

ZZ Top - Rio Grande Mud

Point Blank - Airplay

REO Speedwagon - Nine Lives

Big Twist & the Mellow Fellows - Live in Chicago
