Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO

Doc Severinsen-Trumpets And Crumpets And Things Side C

Stan Getz & Albert Dailey-Poetry Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Nancy Wilson-TLC Side 2

Dannie Richmond-Quintet Side 2 SQ Audiophile

The Montreux/Detroit Collection Volume 2(VA) Side 2

George Muribus-Trio 77 Side B SQ Audiophile

Joan Steele-Looking Back...Earl Brown Side 1 SQ Audiophile

John Pizzarelli Jr.-I’m Hip Side A SQ Audiophile

Wow! 5/8 Audiophile SQ recordings tonight. Unfortunately 4 recordings just slipped in. Trio 77 was clearly a notch above the other 4. Not quite a demo level Lp due to being slightly forward in presentation. If you are an acoustic jazz fan this recording is a 9+/10 SQ and content. TLC could be Ms. Wilson’s 1960’s best? Felt like an all jazz playlist today. Just finished playing prior to Super Bowl Halftime.

Tonight on the Oracle:

Neal Francis - "Changes"

Lettuce - "Unify"

Stevie Ray Vaughan - "Couldn't Stand the Weather" MFSL UltraDisc 1Step

Chris Stapleton - "Traveller" (Right before he sings the National Anthem for the Super Bowl) 😉

Cheers, AudioGon Community!

Both the vinyl and CD sound fantastic. The vinyl and CD are sold separately. I purchased the CD while waiting for the vinyl.

@bdp24 I’m glad to see you’re alive and well and hitting the record store! My wife gave me a coffee cup that says “I have too many records—said no one ever”. I think you’re good.

@bdp24 pace yourself brother….i am back up to 3+ tables…. fuzzy NEW math….

best to all, great thread even as streaming inspiration

@bslon: You mean you're suppose to listen to LP's? ;-)

But seriously, with my LP buying behavior of the past coupla years (I'm guesstimating 500 LP's acquired in 2021-2) I've been putting myself in the situation I created with CD's in the 90's: I can't keep up with my acquisitions (I have 3500 CD's, plenty still sealed). Just today I bought a dozen LP's, and this past week ordered another dozen. Last weekend it was about 10 LP's. I need an intervention.

I have three tables; maybe I should run them concurrently. ;-)

@jjbeason14

I listened to Exile on Main Street today as well and the new Rolling Stones album Grrr Live! Not bad👍🏻

Anne Murray-Together Side 1

McCoy Tyner-Asaante Side 2

The Moody Blues-To Our Childrens Childrens Children Side 1

Shubert/Bruno Walter(MS 6218) Side 2 SQ Audiophile

Armageddon-ST Side 1

The Robert Cray Band-False Accusations Side B SQ Audiophile

David Sanborn-Hideaway Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Every recording had above average SQ with the exception of The Moody Blues, which was average at best(could be my LP?) Tough call on SQ champ but Shubert/Walter get the edge over Thiller due to its excellent dynamics! FWIW Armageddon is one of the best hard rock albums of 1975 and yes that was a very strong year for that genre.

Bellybutton by Jellyfish. Great power pop band that broke up too soon. Only 2 studio albums. Bellybutton and Spilt Milk (which will be listened to next) are perfect records.
