Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Reached back to some from my high school years.  The old Magnavox console wasn't too kind to those records but a good deep Ultra Sonic cleaning really helps.

John Mayall   'Crusade'
John Mayall   'USA Union'

Two wonderful albums.
Been watching this forum for awhile and I'm curious.  Why doesn't anyone post links to the music like we do on "Jazz for Aficionados"?  It's very handy and helps us explore the music that's out there.  Example - this Art Pepper piece I just posted over there:

@mammothguy54

👍🏼👍🏼 Sounds like the condition of my old Mayall LP’s

Probably because we are playing LP’s 😉 Well @tomic601 cheats every once in a while, but we put up with him 😁
@bkeske

I'm a vinyl head too, but for the purpose of further exploration and expansion of one's musical universe, it's tough to beat YouTube links.

@keegiam We post links, but it's usually to a site like Discogs in reference to a particular pressing. You can talk about records on the internet, but it's no place to listen to them.
keegiam,

I get it, which is why I provide the LP info on the albums I’m spinning. Easy to look up on Discogs, as example. More than once I’ve researched some of the music posted here (and believe me, there are some interesting and obscure musical choices posted here, which I like), and purchased some as well.
Melody Gardot - Currency of Man. I have someone coming to buy my JVC QL-Y66F DD tomorrow. Giving it a last hurrah (and having second thoughts).
André Previn conducts Shostakovich - Symphony No. 5. Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Angel, I believe 1978.....or maybe the early 80’s per the label.
Tania Maria-Taurus Side 2 SQ 4.3
Gary Moore-Victims Of The Future(Japanese VIL-6083) Side 2 SQ 4
Wagner-Karajan Conducts Wagner(Angel 45 Sonic Series) Side 1 & 2 SQ 4.5
The Motels-Little Robbers Side 1 SQ 4.4(Doug Sax)
Staple Singers-City In The Sky Side 1 SQ 4.1
Hank Jones-Hanky Panky-Side 2 SQ 4.4

FWIW-Sunday April 11th will have an audiophile guest/friend over for dinner and music. Will try to play 10+ sides or he might want to hear a complete album or two?
Melissa Etheridge - "S/T" - OP

Thanks to @elliottbnewcombjr  for mentioning it on another thread. Loved the CD back in the day, so jumped on an LP described as NM. Just arrived today, in pristine condition. Thanks USPS!
Discogs is great, but the links to other music that show up on YouTube are nearly invaluable.  On top of that there are the historic films and videos of live performances.

Of course YouTube isn't a good hi-fi source.  I own a SOTA Star/SME V combo, so I understand.  I only use YouTube for sharing and exploring.  I've purchased numerous "near mint" LPs as a result of this exploration.  Very rewarding.
@keegiam You got the SOTA, so we will welcome you into the fold. I would say participate, lead by example. Some of us may click on those links, others may not....change comes slowly, some of us are only now recognizing solid state devices...like the toaster...
Bernstein conducts Berlioz - Symphonie Fantastique. New York Philharmonic. Columbia Masterworks 1973

Radio station copy
it is true, besides the black orb, I travel in the land of ones and zeros, quarks and neutrinos, magnetic tape, and more.

The postman delivered a Water Lily CD today...Saudades WLA-Cs-16-CD

” Saudades this word has no English equivalent: it is a mixture of melancholy and longing “

anyone have the LP ?
***** some of us are only now recognizing solid state devices...like the toaster... *****

I don't care who you are, that's funny.
Jim, that Melody Gardot record sounded like crap. It had what looked like some kind of residue on it, very noisy. Brand new. I'll be returning it.

I'm this >< close to calling off the sale.
OMG, a crisis turntable liquidation intervention..shall I schedule a zoom counseling session ?
I can see a lending swap happening in that conversation.....the B&O For the JVC
I have six Jim, maybe an intervention is in order. I can only set up five of them.

My original plan was to sell my VPI classic 2. Then I decided I would put this one up for sale also and whichever one sold first I would keep the other.

I'm listening to my MFSL Little Feat Sailin' Shoes right now and it sounds pretty darn good, and that's with a cheapo Denon DL-301 MK2.
Chick Corea - The Leprechaun
Love it

Gentle Giant - Missing Piece
Interesting, one of their more 'poppy'? 'mainstream'? albums.
well in the words of Eisenhower: “ no plan survives contact with the enemy “

I need to get that Sailing Shoes.....

sounds like my help would only be as a drunk explains the need for sobriety to a fellow addict, over a beer
Whipped Cream and Other Delights
Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass
A&M 1965 (Repress)

"some of us are only now recognizing solid state devices...like the toaster..."

If you cook like my dear mother (she’s 98 now) the toast itself is solid state.
@spiritofradio  - The Melissa Etheridge record sounded very good, but I did not really give it a critical listen. In-laws are visiting, so I had to keep the volume level down.

@reubent Thanks Tom

Daniel Martin Moore ‎– Turned Over To Dreams (Sofaburn 2017 45rpm)

Enchanting album. Weirdly introspective and naive.
Little Willie Littlefield ‎– It’s Midnight "1949-57 recordings" (Route 66 ‎/ KIX-10 1979 mono) side 1
Kenny Neal ‎– Devil Child (Alligator 1989)

Dark horse pick which is surprisingly good.
Just got an email with upcoming record store day offerings; includes a Charles Lloyd album and Steely Dan “Two Against Nature” on Rhino.
La Offenda de Vytas- Vytas Brenner (Vinilissimo)
A Meditation Mass- Yatha Sidra (Brain)

@spiritofradio That's great to hear about Two Against Nature, it's virtually unobtanium on vinyl.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions ‎– Almost Blue
(Columbia 1981)

What a great album. Fine SQ.
Elvis Costello And The Attractions – Blood & Chocolate (Imp 1986)

Bought this when it came out.
Elvis Costello ‎– Secret, Profane & Sugarcane (Specialty 2009)

It’s become a Declan MacManus night. This is pretty solid.
