ELO's Greatest Hits. I have quite a few import records but I think this might be the first one from Yugoslavia.

Bruce Hornsby & The Range-Scenes From The Southside Side 2
Spyro Gyra-City Kids Side 1
Melanie-Portrait Side 2
Country Fair-(VA SWBB-562) Side 4
Schubert-"Unfinished"(RCA LSC-3132) Side 2 SQ Audiophile
Secret Sphere-Portrait Of A Dying Heart Side B
Stan Clarke-Children Of Forever Side 1
Carole King-Thoroughbred Side 1
All recordings had near miss Audiophile SQ, with the exception of "Country Fair". surprised even "Secret Sphere 2016" a prog/metal band had VG+ SQ for that genre. This might be the first "Dynagrove" recording that I have awarded an Audiophile SQ?

Larkin Poe: Peach
Moody Blues: A Question Of Balance.
F1 race today was awful as a Ferrari fan. Though I like what Red Bull is doing building their own power units with Hondas help.

I have a friend who does lead guitar for a tribute band of Tom Petty. They are called 'The Pettybreakers'. They are quite good and play throughout many states, mostly with multi-day gigs. If you ever have a chance to see them, do so. It's amazing how faithful they are to sounding like the real deal.
And yes, my early pp of Wings, Wild Life sounds a bit thin, too. That's why I had asked Steve to report on his listening experience of the new half-speed issue.
Terry Allen - Just Like Moby Dick I just received this yesterday, purchasing it after reading about it on this thread. I went to YouTube and checked out the album and liked the music and it sounded as though it would be a great recording, too. WOW, it certainly is. The music is really very good and the SQ is fantastic. Staging and imaging are the highlights of this recording. Vocals and backup vocals are incredible.
Beth Hart - Fire On The Road This is just an excellent album, second time this week. However, it has a veil over the SQ. Drums and cymbals are really in the background and overall it sounds like there is a sheet or blanket over my speakers. There is a new release, limited edition of 500 copies, on clear vinyl. Just came out, I wonder if the SQ is much better? Anyone know about this?

Leo Kottke - Burnt Lips. Chrysalis 1978

|
what a shame he is gone….
An understatement of high magnitude Jim. I know everything is ‘meant to be’, but can only imagine the additional amazing work he would have graced us with. Odd, I was a ‘late comer’ to Tom. I watched him opened for the Grateful Dead at the Akron Rubber Bowl in the early/mid-80’s, and I gotta say, he grabbed my attention. I kept my eye on him, and no doubt he only got better and better….

T.P. - Hard Promises on the TT….excellent, perfectly suits my California mood…

Life’s Hard and Then You Die "It’s Immaterial"

I believe it was @noromance post that incouraged me into seeking out this lp. My second time listening in as many years.
Listening now is bringing me back to the sensory experience I had initially. Wish for wider SS.

@slaw
Steve, have you ever heard the difference between Speaker Corners release vs the OP? My OP is nice, but seems to be a bit ‘thin’…..of course, just got done listening to Tom Petty….so…
McCartney? What a good idea…

Paul McCartney & Wings "Wild Life"
2021/Abbey Road half speed
This is my very first time hearing this music. I was swayed into buying it after catching a video by Melinda Murphy.
It sounds wonderful!! Recommended!!
The cover shot reminds me a lot of the scenery I was around in my younger days.
|
The Golden Smog lp is highly recommended! Really enjoyed it today .
There is some siblance issue on side 3.

An afternoon playing Tom Petty records, oh yeah! Fun stuff Brian! And Jim!
+1 Mary Chapin Carpenter’s The Dirt & The Stars. I picked that up after a post of yours Steve. The clear vinyl spinning on the TT is like a hypno-disc, weird.
|
Ya ! Wildflowers is great, spinning my single disc now :-) good suggestion Brian.
|
FWIW, I'm very impressed with the Zavfino phono cable. Don't even think about now. Just immersed into the music.
|
|
@slaw
And the LPs are even better Steve, as you know. This is ‘hitting the spot’ this Sunday afternoon. I do believe, one of Tom’s best.

These LP sessions are getting more and more rare... streaming so much lately but in a post NY Rangers loss last night, I needed to wind down. Beck, "Morning Phase" Terry Reid, "Superlungs" (amazing voice) & then streamed Sturgill Simpson, "A Sailors Guide." Eclectic set but fitting my mood...

Very cool translucent blue vinyl, given as a gift from my daughter years ago. Awesome! Not the highest SQ but the imaging makes up for that. When “Forgotten Years” comes on, I can’t. sit. still. 😎

Bill Evans-You Must Believe In Spring 1981 WB
A great record that I have always felt was under appreciated. Lo and behold, it got the repressed by Craft this year. My OG sounds amazing so not likely to toss $40 down for the remaster, but glad it is out there.
@j_husker It might be worth it. I just got it yesterday and it sounds very good at 45. I don’t have the original though, just digital.
