1969/2018 Discipline Reissue

ELP - S/T First Album

Difficult to think what path King Crimson would have taken had Greg Lake not left for ELP but I’m glad he did as I enjoy the journey that both bands took.

@slaw take care of yourself bro.  Vitamin D, Zinc first few days, Lots of Vitamin C all the way through.  Push the liquids.  Even when you’re not feeling thirsty.  Hope it doesn’t hit you too hard.  It shouldn’t at this stage. Hoping for the best for you.

Steve, with 3 jabs you should sail through it.  I also have 3 jabs and been lucky so far.  I still wear a mask in the supermarket.  Maybe one of 10% who do.  I wish you the best, take care and be well.  Keep us posted.

slaw--exposure is a lot more accessible than you'd expect--he's got daryl hall and peter gabriel singing on it and most of the songs are structured  pretty conventionally. sorry about your test--hopefully you'll crusie by with no ill effects.

Steve,

I was a little late to the Fripp / King Crimson party myself.  A friend told me about Fripp maybe 15 years ago and at the time I think I thought it was a little too "out there", but he does some pretty cool stuff.  He also has done some collaborations with Brian Eno.

Greg, I'm just now starting my journey with Robert Fripp. Exposure was shipped recently.

Jim, Nice! When I first got that album, it didn't register with me. Pulled it out last year and my perspective changed. I had to get the box set even though a couple will be doubles.

I tested positive for Covid today.

Knopfler - Kill to Get Crimson, compliments of a wonderful music lunch w Agon / Vandy owners forum Steve Edwards :-)

listening to djangology (the camden quintessence version, late 70s i think) while i work

midway still--i won't try--previously unknown to me, these guys sound exactly like the lemonheads. which, since i like the lemonheads, is a good thing.

ed kuepper--electrical storm--dark, brooding and tuneful as hell

matthew sweet--sunshine lies--much of this is generic m sweet, but "byrdgirl" and "feel fear" are as perfect a pop song as you'll hear

@spiritofradio

@curiousjim 👍 The Resonance issues are (most all) fantastic aren’t they.  Do you have “Some Other Time” too.  I think it’s my favorite of the Resonance issues.

No I don’t, but I guess I’ll have to order it.

Darn.😁

@reubent Wow, sounds bad.   What a hassle.  Hope you can stay cool and get service back quickly.

@reubent I am here in ohio as well. several colleagues called off work today due to the power situation just north of cincinnati. praying for everyone. i kept thinking ours was going to go but we lucked out as well.

cool to see people checking out wamono groove! i think there are three or four volumes of "wamono", but this is the only one that i've listened to in depth so far.

tonight i am listening to dave pike's "on a gentle note." very good and moody electric vibraphone jazz, similar in feeling to the early 70s roy ayers style. pike is one of those guys who was on a ton of records but for whatever reason isn't mentioned much outside of niche circles (herbie mann fanatics, vibraphone obsessives etc). of his solo albums, this one is exceptional imho. just a great record that's sort of flown under a lot of people's (the people i know anyway) radars.

Lots of music here that I am not familiar with.  I love this thread.  I have bought stuff I never heard of because of this thread and it's never been a disappointment.  I'll probably give a try to some of what you guys have posted today.

Al Green  -  Call Me   Speakers Corner reissue.  Very good!

David Crosby  -  If I Could Only Remember My Name   50th Anniversary issue.

Earl Klugh and Bob James  -  Two Of A Kind   Lovely way to end the day (before diner).

The Sibelius Academy Quartet : Sibelius - String Quartet In A Minor & String Quartet In B Flat Major, Op. 4. Finlandia 1985

@spiritofradio - wamono groove - I'll check it out when I get internet service again. Storms really jacked up Southern Ohio last evening. Still many thousands without power and cable. And the temp is nearly 100 degrees. We were fortunate and did not lose power. But lots of neighbors have been without power for more than 24 hours with no ETA for restoration.

Janáček Quartet : Martinů - String Quartet No. 5
Vlach Quartet : Martinů - String Quartet No. 7
Supraphon 1980, Czechoslovakian release

Panocha Quartet : Martinů - String Quartets No. 4 & No. 6. Supraphon 1988, Czechoslovakian release
