What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report

I enjoy vinyl and digital (lately, with recent changes, vinyl actually sounds better than digital to me), BUT given what seems an overall preference for analog/vinyl on A'gon, I'm curious what the non-vinyl "1/2" is listening to. I tried to see if this was a previously posted question. Did not seem so.

This evening for me, it's Genesis (definitive edition remaster) "A Trick of the Tail".

Just now my newly acquired 1995 CD used $5 Canadian version of Golden Earing Moontan, and from the first note blows away my 2001 I always listened to, and was sort of happy with till now.
Anyone want a free 2001 version, you pay for post!

Great albumn by a great band. Me and fellow audiogon-er, arcam88 are big fans. We both have much of their media. Unfortunately I don’t have any vinyl but I own a lot of their CD’s and tons of their music on my external hard drive.

Tonight I’ll spin Tits and Ass and two other of my favorite tracks -
"Going to the Run" and of course "Radar Love" - timeless!

"Radar Love" - timeless!
Radar Love is my second, to me, the nine and a half minute "Vanilla Queen" is number one on the 1995 version, kills the 2005 version for jump factor.

Best sounding one on youtube still sounds crap compared to the 1995 CD

Tonight - Blues courtesy of Mobile Fidelity Original Masters:
  • The Blues - A Real Summit Meeting
  • A Riot in Blues
  • Willie Dixon - I Am The Blues
Last night was a memory lane night
America (America) untouched "original masters version".
Wow!!! still holds up well today, very good dynamic swing, plenty of depth and sound stage, and on some tracks very wide soundstage to outside the speakers!!

Then after that, the better tracks off Carly King "Tapestry" CD

Then the stunning original recording Cat Stevens "Tea for the Tillerman" 1989 CD4280 made by Denon Japan for A&M. After those CD's an a couple of Gin and Tonics under my belt I was out there and back in the 70’s +

Then sat down which I watched Alien Covenant which I’ve never seen, and with Covid19 now mutating, this movie kinda spun me out.

Siouxie & the Banshees - The Best Of

Last night Tracy Chapman "Tracy Chapman" 1st and only 1988 release brilliant stunning recording.

Then Angus & Julia Stone "Down the Way" a little compressed, but simple (voice guitar) so it’s not too confused.

Not night here yet (12:54)...

John Coltrane 'Blue Train'... 😐

Big rave for who likes it.

Me... I'm either too young STILL?!? - or too old? for this classic kind of Jazz.

I'll keep trying, as I have now - FOR YEARS. 😥

5.30pm relaxing with a Gin and tonic listening to 1984 Nancy Wilson Godsend, Denon 38C38-7188 CD I believe it’s Pre-emphasized, and I think my dac has de-emphasis, because it’s not bright, otherwise it would be, just sublime to listen to, a stunning recording.

Art Pepper tonight.
Art Pepper + Eleven (Mobile Fidelity, Sanyo Japan)
Winter Moon (Galaxy)
Tommy Flanagan - The Tokyo Recital (Pablo)
The Jimmy Giuffre 3 - Trav' Lin' Light (Atlantic)The Giuffre disc features a young  (28) Jim Hall on guitar. His tone and style distinct. Amazing what they did w/o bass, drums or piano. Woodwinds, brass, and guitar only.

Last night Joan Armatrading "Joan Armatrading" 1990 issue A&M 393 228-2
Stunning album, sounding also like it was done yesterday, nothing does old RedBook like good discrete R2R dac.
.
Then after that Propaganda "A Secrete Wish" 1985 ZIT 90288-2 another stunner!!! Can’t believe how good RedBook can sound these days, we suffered with it way back.
I now believe Philips "perfect sound forever" saying, just took time for it to get played/converted correctly.
