What is the one CD you can't find?

Years ago I had listened to an audiophile test album with a white cover and little credits to go on the back side. I fell in love with it immediatly. The owner of the album was kind enough to make me a tape but would not part with it at any price. Later I discovered that members of the band Steps Ahead played on it, and even released one of the tunes on their cd. I have searched for years to find it on either cd or vynal yet have never come across it.This would be my greatest find. Just wondering how many others have a similar situation. And what is the one cd you just can't get?

Monty Alexander - Reunion in Europe

I believe I once saw this years ago on CD, didn't buy it then, now I cannot find it ANYWHERE! Have it on vinyl, but I no longer have my analog rig, so if anyone has some info on the CD, I'd be grateful.
Bob Seger - "Ramblin Gamblin Man","Noah", and "Back in 72".

Believe it or not I actually have pristine copies of all three in CD and LP.

But they were extremly hard to find and are now non existant.
Some great music on these disc's for Bob Seger fans, dont know why ther are not avialable anymore anywhere.
I'm looking for early Hollies records on CD or the original LPs. (Not greatest hits compilations.) Most important is one with "Look Through Any Window," which was apparently not issued on any UK LP (only on EP), but was issued in the US on Hear Here. Ideally, if on CD, it's the original analog recording, not remastered.
Ghost,

For some reason my previous attempt to post didn't work. I'm in SoCal. If you have contact info for a vendor I'd be forever gratefu if you'd post it here or e-mail me.

Marty
Martyk, I have seen quite a few issues on LP and CD of Second Wind. I am in western Canada. What part of the content are you in.
Bobby Whitlock S/T CD. I don't even know if this was ever released on CD in the US but I have been chasing a ghost in trying to track down a Universal Japan release that was supposed to have been out in July of this year.
I can't find Matchbox 20 you or someone like you (import from Australia). It has an acoustic version of 3:am that is awesome.
When I come across a CD that I "NEEEED" and can't find it in the usual spots I look on www.GEMM.com

I can usually find most anything there, CD and vinyl and tape. The rare ones can pack a pretty premium though.

Enjoy,
Bob
Two come to mind:
1) Woody Herman: Children of Lima (originally lp)
The arrangement of 25 or 6 to 4 is brilliant.
2) Pat Williams: Threshold (originally lp)
great jazz big band
It was made about 20 years ago I think. OOP for a long time. Great performances. Also Brahms Symphonies, Giulini Philharmonia Orchestra, EMI. OOP but Giulini is VERY popular, I don't get it, oh well.

Thanks

Bill
I found a CD single of this - so yes I have both the original radio single and the "stadium" live version (which I think was more popular in the clubs and was in this video). Stadium rock was popular in the mid 80's (recall Billy Squiers The Stroke, Simple Minds Alive and Kicking etc.) Anyone reading threads will know that I have a totally eclectic tastes in music though (I like EVERYTHING).

BTW - I have a Stadium Rock setting on my Roland drum set - it can be a lot of fun - although the long reverb can be tiring after while...but I do enjoy to plug my drum set into the speakers every now and them and rock out.
Shadorne: Have you heard this version? You wouldn't believe the sounds coming our of your subwoofer on LP.
The EP and LP issued by the band Alternative Learning, which was Scott Miller's band prior to Game Theory. I don't believe these were ever issued on CD.

I recently purchased on eBay the CD version of Game Theory's "Lolita Nation," which is quite rare and a lot more expensive than anyone except a seller would appreciate.

To give you some idea of the relative unavailability of the Alternative Learning records, Miller has said that they make "Lolita Nation" seem like Michael Jackson's "Thriller" by comparison.

I fully expect never to see a copy in my lifetime.
Not the rarest out there but Steven Stills "Stills Alone" is sorta hard to get and goes for upwards of $150 as I guess there were only 5000 produced from what I have been told.
"Interpretenportrait - Roland Proell", label Polyhymnia or Polyphonia or something like that, released in the late 1980s/ early 1990s. It contains Schumann's C major piano fantasy and the most convincing recording of Ravel's "Miroirs" among the twenty-odd I have tried. Must be extremely rare.
"Pearls Before Swine" CDs were tough to come by but finally found some reissues from Italy.
Then there was a very limited 24K issue of "Nightfly" that I would like to hear but have never been able to find.
In the early 80's (if memory serves me) Ry Cooder came to London to gig, and performed a half hour or so set on the as was 'Old Grey Whistle Test' program by the Beeb. On it he did a version of 'How can a poor man stand such times and live'. It a version without the accordion and lasts 7 minutes or so. Brilliant. If only I could get a copy.
I am in search of the original Johnny Cash Man in Black cd. It was recorded upon his return from Vietnam in the early seventies. It has billy Graham on it as well. This was a master piece album to me and although I have found hacked up vinyl versions I have not found it on CD. Any one know or have this one???
The late Karl L. King (The Golden Dragon) PIANO version and overture. Not sure where to find it. Not sure if was even produced on cd. If anyone knows where, get in touch with me.
My Latest quest is Pat Travers Black Pearl. I belive it was issued on CD and then pulled of the racks. If anyone can find this pearl I would be amazed and gratefull.

Happy New Year to all!!!
its never been released....jerry jeff walker's-its a good night for singin'.........charles llod/chico hamilton-nirvana.....friends by feather....leslie gore-love me by name....the tremblers......at least 50 more
Whyland,

Is this it?

http://www.amazon.com/Some-People-What-They-Like/dp/B000001FV8/ref=sr_1_21?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1195224198&sr=1-21

Seems a little expensive, no?
Don't know if it was issued on CD, but would love to have Robert Palmer's Some People Can Do What They Like.
thanks Mags5000, i saw that...i was hoping for something less than 50 bucks. shoulda bought it when i saw it used a few years ago for 14 in my local shop
Until last week it was Daniel Lanois "Acadie"

It's amazing what a $500 bid will do on Ebay!?!

Gregg Allman, One More Try, a double CD anthology now out-of-print. If anyone has one to sell please email me.....thanks & cheers!
Logic - Logic Systems - This was a Japanese electronic music performer (group?). I heard the cd once in the mid-80's and the cd was from the early 80's, the early days of cd's. I've never seen it since, although I do have a copy that the person who played it for me put on a nice Nakamichi cassette. I'd love to come across the cd again, but alas, it has eluded me. :(
Many years ago I had a Chico Hamilton LP with a short (30 seconds) piece on it called "I Found Out" where the guitarist strummed his open strings and Chico said gravely "I found out." Can't find this onCD or even on vynil. Did I imagine it?

Two CDs I can never find are Big Bright Street and Hirth from Earth by Hirth Martinez, great little known songwriter in the 70s.
I've seen this CD sell on eBay for way too much money. If I recall, it was in the neighborhood of $250.
I've been on a thirty-year-plus quest to find "A Childrens' Christmas" by the Bravo Players/Bravo Singers...other artist name with "Bravo", unsure of exact artist name(s) in any format. It contained 3 tracks I still remember from childhood - "Mixie Pixie", "Eighteen Cents", and "The Little Stocking with the Hole in the Toe". Purely sentimental reasons for this...I don't think it was any sort of especially high-fidelity-engineered recording. I run across references to it occasionally in cyberspace but no offers to sell save for a long expired ebay listing I saw earlier this year...
I've been looking for Vivante's version of Muddy Waters' "Folk Singer" album on vinyl. I've seen lots of MoFi's and Classic pressings for sale, as well as the original Chess and Pye from England. Vivante's version is on 180 gram vinyl and may not be as pleasingly mastered as either the MoFi or the Classic. However, I have bought every other LP that Vivante brought to the U.S., and this would complete my collection. (They went dark a few years ago.)
NRBQ " Workshop"
Pousette Dart Band "Amnesia"
Holy Moses
David Bromberg "Reckless Abandon"

Have the Hal Wilner "thats the way I feel now " on vinyl, never have seen it on CD
MY GREATEST FIND Well about six months ago I was in a used cd shop and decided to finally purchas the scheffield track record. I had seen this around before but it was either to expensive or their was somthing better. At the time I knew it would be a cool recording but did not know what was on it. Sure enough I get it home throw it on and SHURE ENOUGH it was " the Album " I had search for all those years.
Without parallel, in my estimation, the truly superlative Wally Badarou recording, "Chief Inspector." Stunning stuff, far outpaced even his considerable lesser efforts. I had it in both LP and cassette formats, and a couple of his subsequent recordings on CD. I've looked forever for a CD version of "Chief Inspector," but no luck. Afro-Caribbean with significant jazz threads
Joan Baez Greatest hits had her wearing a hat on the cover. Had a german version of where did all the flowers go.
The one CD I can't find is Katie Melua "Piece by Piece". I bought it and loaded it into my music server. Then, because all of my storage racks are full, I put it some place safe until I added more storage. I forgot where.

That was months ago. I have looked everywhere and still can't find that CD. Now where did that girl go? -:)
Philip Catherine "Nairam". I have the vinyl which I purchase in 1975 or 76. I don't believe it's ever been released on CD. It's even hard to find a good copy on vinyl. It's a very unique and fabulous album, even for Catherine.
Up until a year or two ago, it was Steve Winwood and Stomu Yomashta's GO and GO TWO. They were released back in the 70's and I just loved them back then. They finally were re-released, along with a live version, in a 2-CD set. It's got Stevie singing, and Al DiMeola on the guitar. Just a great set of music - very atmospheric.
This is not even available on CD but if anyone out there has Horace Silver's "Spiritualizing the Senses" on Silveto Records either in LP or Cassette format, please shoot me a message. This goes back to circa 1983. When I sold my entire LP collection in late 2005, this went with it not checking to see if this was available on CD. I just assumed and we all know what happens when you assume!!
