SnubWay Question Thread

Happy New Year

For those interested - the 1st of three Snubber Products is ready for full scale production - SnubWay works really well with Puron, each doing their job in good order.

Viet made a tidy little video to explain the product a bit and make a demo - this is from his What’s On The Bench Videos

We tested ParaSnub (aka SnubWay) with a simulated SMPS noise source that has an 1kohm impedance. This is to simulate a typical SMPS transformer impedance between the high frequency generated voltage and the line (mains) that it is connected to. We inject about 5Vpp 400kHz, 100kHz and 60kHz noise using a function generator and get between -30dB to -33dB reduction in noise (about 100mV to 150mVpp). This is a significant amount of noise reduction and can really help clean up the SMPS noise contamination in our power outlet strip. The level of reduction may vary, and will depend on your particular SMPS noise source impedance, your equipment, and your particular house wiring, etc.

Mark, thanks for posting and kudos for bringing products that possibly make audible improvements. I can definitely put a SnubWay to test in my secondary systems.

Let us know once the finish product available and entry price point.

Mark, Nice, clear demonstration. Well done.

14 day trial at $295 might work best in this market. Maybe test the device in-situ in a resolving analog system to ensure the filter itself causes no deleterious impact on audio quality.

Great video.  I’m not sure about the $295, but I’d definitely be interested in the two week trial.  The only device I have with a switch mode power supply is my CD transport , but I’m sure the power company isn’t doing me any favors.

I hate spam but I don’t find this post objectionable. The video is informative and the OP forthcoming. Maybe I'm becoming more tolerant in my older age.

Are product ads now part of the Forum experience here ? Asking for a friend.

@noromance

Maybe this helps one imagine what this product is going to be

Don't forget to spin it around a bit - fun

Thanks - Mark

@verafiaudio

Very nice demonstration. There is one problem. Does ultrasonic noise in an AC lines affect audio quality with well designed audio equipment? I have never seen any evidence that it does. What people think they hear is anecdotal and highly unreliable. You will sell many units based on the belief that it does and psychoacoustic meanderings. You will loose a lot of sales based on the lack of missing information. Finish the job and you can sell me one.

@mijostyn

Much more data to follow, and it's our collective thought that lowering noise of any kind can effect the overall sound of one's system

It's on us to prove it - I agree. I also think that with our returns policy one can easily try it and decide - the ULTIMATE arbiter is you.

Listen and then decide

Best wishes - Mark

@verafiaudio

Mark, those are the same old arguments every scam artist uses and you are better than that. I want to see things like the affect of your device on the output of the power supplies of an assortment of equipment.

Humans are extremely unreliable when it come to the assessment of subtle changes in sound quality. I include myself in that group although I always try to factor that in when hearing new equipment. The problem is so bad you can not even trust a large sample. On the other hand If I see a quantitative improvement on performance I will go for it. Even if I can't hear an improvement the affect of a number of these small steps is clearly audible.

Mark - why not put a power inlet on top so the Puron can plug into the Snubway (or vice versa)? I'm running out of outlets!

@mijostyn

Preparing a new Video addressing your comments - I think you and others might find it interesting

@davespencer

Lots of new I/O coming that should cover your fine idea. Each new idea has it;'s benefits and it's market "Place".

Thanks - Mark

mark @verafiaudio

What is the expected available date?
I have 4 wall warts plugged into a APC UPS back up and surge protector strip. What would be the recommended installation…power strip or the outlet powering the power strip?

@lalitk

I would probably want the open outlet on your Duplex at first.

Thanks very much

Mark

Sorry I've been late to get this posted. Just had Oral Surgery and other stuff going on at the same time.

YES OZZY - FUSE BOX MAX (11 amps to 30 amps) ready next week I'm told. About 50% bigger (length) and it's working great. Supply Chain slowed this one down

Happy Holiday All - Mark

Any reviews yet for those who have purchased the SnubWay. Would love to hear comments.

@stevebohnii

Delivery timeline projections have not been met. At least that is the case with my pre-order.

When it finally does arrive hopefully it's worth the wait.

Based on my past experience I believe it will have been.

@stevebohnii

No excuses - late is late.

We opted for Milled Chassis and that cost us time and money :)

The Product has landed in Lexington, KY. Fighting weather etc.

We moved the fulfillment part of the business to Robinson, IL so Damien (whose way faster than Grampa here) can ship most of our products more efficiently. His office is out of normal service range, but we've solved that too. DHL is hell on wheels to his place.

This week you should hear from all that care to write. The Product works well and sounds great.

Best holiday wishes to all... offering our apologies for sure.

Thanks - Mark

My snubway arrived yesterday and it's a real beautiful piece of work!  Looking forward to testing it with my most noise sensitive system, my headphone system

@uncola

Enjoy

Early reports are really positive over on Decware and I'm told other places. I'm trying to keep my Facebook posts as up to date also now that I have help there.

Happy Father's Day

Best - Mark

I don’t mind this thread either. I appreciate honesty in trying to help others vs shilling to making a sale, giving vs receiving.

Thanks for sharing.

I was eagerly awaiting my Snubway but did not realise i’m in the next batch. not the first 100.

I have many (and I mean many) of these plug in parallel filters, but never one that purports to target just the SMPS noise. It’s a great idea.

Due to lack of dedicated listening room my stereo shares duties with an OLED tv and an Xbox. Both those devices will be emitting SMPS noise even in standby mode.

Received my Snubway this week and in short order it has been a definite improvement and it’s not subtle.  Mark has another winner with the Snubway. Here are my initial highlights after only a few days using the Snubway:

Quiet blacker background, clearer details and separation of instruments, hearing subtle background instruments I have not heard prior, more 3D and holographic- music comes out into the room and music seems to surround me more, with less noise in the environment I play at a lower volume to reach my preferred listening level at 60-70db.  I certainly did not expect this!  Looking forward to Main Stream🤪

This was posted yesterday on the "What’s Best Forum"

"First impressions of the SnubWay 100 hours in:
- It’s size/shape prevents audiophile size connectors and similar sized adapters from being used -- plugged in fully -- underneath it, whether in a wall outlet or on my Regenerator. Would have thought they’d have caught that.

- No matter where I plug it in, the SnubWay’s effect is to add lots of dynamic energy and volume (in both senses), thickness and a bit of smoothness (oddly with TV voices seem rougher). However, that energy seems to overrun or overwhelm the sense of clarity and delicacy that exists without it. Will see if this works out over time."

tksteingraber seems to really like his. Now that there are a 100 of these out there, I wonder if others feel the same or can comment.

ozzy

@ozzy check out the thread on Decware’s forum for several + comments. Kamran wrote and extensive review.   I think results may be dependent on how good of conditioning/high frequency scrubbing you already have set up.  I am not using one of the expensive big boy conditioners like your AQ.  I do have several conditioning tweaks in place.  As for the plug I am using a 3 to 1 outlet splitter installed at the duplex wall shared with a Puron and my ground box so its size doesn’t impact me.

Thanks, tksteingraber, I value your opinion.

But I’m going to pass on this product...

@ozzy

Received my Snubway yesterday and listened last night.

After an hour and a half of listening without Snubway I plugged it in and listened for about 3 hours repeating a lot of the same recordings. This is only 1st impressions obviously, and with that said the opinion of the What's Best Forum member you quoted is quite different from my session. I do agree that connectivity is somewhat limited especially if you have several plug-in devices pre-existing. I'm not clear at this point if dynamics are increased as I have a very strong dynamic presence in my system and didn't focus in that area as well as if there is an increase in perceived volume.

What I did notice was an increased purity of treble tone, along with extended decay. This affect also was throughout the midrange with increased resolution of very fine detail. Don't really want to comment on bass reproduction because again at this early junction my serious attention was elsewhere, and secondly, I was listening to different tubes than my preferred for best bass definition. In general I didn't have any concerns with the full musical experience.

Overall the music last night was musical, and very involving.

Should be getting a SnubWay in about a week or so. Will be using it in my EQUI=CORE 600 [which supports a TrippLite w/three switching power supplies plugged into it: USB Disruptor (w/stock), Wyred4Sound Recovery (w/iFi iPowerX) and Hagerman TUBA (w/iFi Ipower Elite)].

Am very happy with the EQUI=CORE. The SunbWay comes with Mark Shifter’s recommendation, so I am looking forward to hearing its [further] effect(s)/enhancement(s).

Have also "re-footed" all my components with Synergistic Reseach MiG and MiG 3.0(s)--which have also charted signal improvements.

I received the Snubway today and have been listening to it, in and out of my system, for several hours. Even though it’s been less than the 10-12 hours of break-in suggested by Mark, I wanted to give my initial impressions as a card carrying tweak skeptic ... this thing is the real deal, folks. Period. End of story.

The first revelation was astonishment at how much noise and hash I have on my lines. Holy smokes! There is most definitely a palpable lowering of the noise floor here and, with that, an increase in dimensionality (front to back), width of soundstage, and clarity. Micro-details become manifest to the point where what was formerly a hint of a triangle is now heard fully. Also, by lowering the noise floor so dramatically, it has become necessary to lower the volume from my standard setting by approximately 3 dB.

To me, all of that is a substantial improvement. Of course, I am building in a certain allowance for the placebo effect, but even with that factored in, the Snubway plainly works, and it does so very well. In fact, I have ordered a second one to plug into the Zerosurge to which my subwoofer is connected. Again, as a tweak skeptic, I typically am wary of "magic in a box" items. However, after having read the online posts by the Snubway’s inventor, who displays its inner workings for all to see and explains in detail how it works (without using a bunch of unintelligible gobbledygook), I’m confident that this product is legit. Certainly, I cannot ignore what my ears are telling me.

There’s a 30-day, no questions asked money back guarantee on the Snubway, including return postage. So, there’s absolutely no downside risk. You know, most of us take great pains to assemble our systems, but many ignore room treatments and power issues. I confess to have been remiss as to the latter, but what a great surprise and delight to have addressed the power issue in such a substantial and reasonably priced way. I’ll update this mini-review as may be necessary, and look forward to even more improvement as the Snubway breaks in and after the second one arrives.

@rlb61

Thanks very much for the wonderful endorsement here. Makes me smile

Both SnubWay and Main Stream are made in CA now and we are flowing inventory well. SnubWay is sold out for a few days after the 2nd Mass Production Round

All of us appreciate the fine comments here

Best wishes - Mark

Is there supposed to be a light on the underside of the Snubway like the Mainstream?

And does the Snubway get warm at all?

@agisthos

NO illumination of SnubWays base. Main Stream yes, SnubWay no

SnubWay does not run warm. Main Stream a little bit

Thanks - Mark

Yeah the Snubway was cold to the touch after being plugged in for hours.

So far I have it on the AV system and see/hear improvements. Will get around to the audio system soon!

@agisthos

Thanks very much - look forward to your results in your Audio System

We are processing both SnubWay and Main Stream as quickly as we can in our new space in California - going really well

Best wishes - Mark

UPDATE:

Thought I would update my review of the Snubway apearing earlier in this thread. My second Snubway came the other day and I have plugged it into the Zerosurge on which I have my subwoofer only. The other one is plugged into the Zerosurge controlling my other components. Well, let me tell you ... this thing works wonders on a subwoofer (as well as everything else). Bass is very crisp, articulate, and coherent. Having the Snubways in my entire system truly is like having a major component upgrade, and I am about as skeptical of tweaks as anyone. The Snubway reduces line noise substantially and is a product that lives up to its publicity. You’d be surprised at how much noise is on electrical lines and that is generated from switch mode power supplies in your system. My system has never sounded this good, and the Snubway has become a permanent part of my audio arsenal. BTW, I have no affiliation with the manufacturer, I’m just a very impressed and happy customer.

Snubway deals with high frequency noise generated by SMPS and tv’s etc while Main Stream filters noise in the audio band. Both compliment one another.

@rib61

Thanks very much for your updated comments.

The SMPS Noise is pervasive and really robs the audio (and video) of all it can be.

The measured results are just superb - but the proof is in the result

@aldnorab

I urge you to spend some time on our web site. Some real good information there. I don’t want to catch trouble posting links - but in brief... SnubWay is Parallel Filtering System that look for Switch Mode Noise and eliminates it. Plug it in anywhere near your gear - good especially between 400 and 600kHz

Main Stream is a Power Conditioner focusing it’s workload between 10 and 20kHz mainly. It works incredibly well. Better Focus and Lower Noise

@agisthos

99% Right On The Mark

Note please that these need 30 to 40 hours to begin to work real well - by 150 hours, they are in the zone

@ozzy

Thanks very much - heading that way now to look in. Appreciate anything you might have to say re these two essentials
