I’m curious about this product from Perfect Path Technologies and would like to hear from those that have experience with it. I’ve bought and used the Total Contact enhancer and like what it does for my system so I’m interested in hearing how this Omega E mat performs.
No, I told her and I purchased a dozen of them. She loves the improved bass and dynamics on the TV system. as well as cleaner sound with greater depth of image. We enjoy season opera tickets and an occasional heavy metal recording of hers at home on the big audio system now that it has Omega E-Mats.
My wife said that if I brought one more piece of stereo equipment home or one more LP, she’d leave me.
I kind of miss her sometimes ... :-)
And by the way ... I have a sub-panel in the master bedroom closet. I already had one E-Mat inside the panel door. I put another two mats in there for tonight's listening session. Wow! Another drop in noise ... and this one wasn't subtle at all. Amazing products coming out of PPT.
Actually, we are leaving our home for a larger home, one with a dedicated listening room with only equipment and seating and another separate room for media storage (plus a 120 sq ft Tuff Shed for at least another 5,000 LPs unsorted and unheard). I am trying to sell 2,000 NOS 1930's-1940's classical 78s and about 2,000 LPs too. So, I am limiting my buying to mostly CDs, no more 78s or LPs unless they are really cheap or very desirable and affordable.
The home also has four times the size kitchen, three times the closet space and bathroom space. My wife appreciates the purchase.
I'll need more E-Mats because there is a large 400 amp mains and four subpanels (well, the pool/HVAC aren't getting an E-Mat) and I'm using 3 now.
The proposed system-wide device could eliminate the need for more E-Mats.
fleschler, I look forward to the future and seeing your place on "Hoarders" or "Buried Alive" or perhaps your 1,000's of albums being purchased on "Storage Wars".
My LPs and 78s in my permanent collection are housed in seismically secure custom built wall cabinets mounted to 2X6s on 8" plates, 2X 5/8X drywall and 6" 3000 lb. engineered slab. The CDs are housed in Can Am steel drawer cabinets.
I've sold or donated 18,000 records in the past 25 years. I have a rule, if I don't want to hear a recording more than 3 times per year, out it goes.
I am not a hoarder. I have/had local collectors of 1 million to 1.5 million records (Tom Chandler, Music Man Murray, etc.) who hoarded records relative to their stores and then there's the esteemed record producer Tom Null, who also has 1 million recordings but listen to them.
That should have read, Tom Null does not listen to his recordings, just continues to collect them. He prefers unique and obscure recordings for his collection. They are not in his home so his home isn't like a hoarders, Neither was Tom Chandler who had warehouses for his records. Rod McKuen who lived 2 miles away reportedly had a million or millions of records but had a staff to manage them.
You don't believe people with 1 to 8 million records isn't a hoarder? Compared to me, they were/are hoarders. Tom Chandler had all of his records available for sale. Music Man Murray liked to ask what you would pay for it, then not sell it. Weird. Tom Null and Zero Freitas just warehouse them.
I just hit week 8 today with TC in my system a noticed a big jump in the sound quality the last 7 days...Very happy. Looking to put the ecard's in soon. My second time through this process as I moved from Chicagoland to Tampa almost 3 months ago. I had to break all the connections to move my system. Three weeks after moving and putting everything back together the sound was nowhere near what it had been before the move. So I cleaned of all the connections off and reapplied the TC. I have to admit I didn't think it was going to get back to where it was but it is right about there I would say now. Possibly a little better as I treated all my powe cables this time vs just one of three begore. I listened to the system 4 out of the last 7 days and everyday it was getting better. Today was a big jump since last time I listened Sunday. I was worried and it had been suggested by others here, with a lot more knowledge of audio than me, that it could also just be environmental and room changes. Such differences in the room, ceramic tile vs carpet, stucco walls and ceiling vs regular drywall as well as power quality, RFI and EMI to name a few others. But now after 8 weeks the sound is sure awfully close to what it was.... actually maybe a lillt better overalI. A week or two ago I would have seriously doubted this even after going through this process less than a year ago. It may be hard to go backwards in this hobby much without losing the audio bug! Lol
Thanks again! Without your recommendations my system would sound nowhere near as good as it does now. I can't wait to put the Omega E cards in my system.
I have been been busy keeping up with my family, business and listening to music, thus no posts. I have been keeping up with the forum and look forward to the new product development.
It has been almost a year since I ordered Total contact and Like most others on this forum are now enjoying their music more than ever. For that, I thank you. Keep it up.
Its been just about a week and a half since we pasted the circuit breaker, mains and all. Things continue to improve.
Had two audiophile friends over yesterday for a listening session. It ended up being an eight-hour session. My friend "Mas" brought some terrific vinyl reissues that really made the day. Dead quiet and wonderful sounding. It is amazing how good new vinyl, properly remastered, is today.
I've been experimenting with more E-Cards this past week, especially around the turntable motor and platter. Interesting results so far. More lowering of the noise that wasn't there. *lol* Plus, I place one more E-Mat in the sub-panel for good effect too.
Okay elizabeth, I’ll tell that Tim gives discounts on purchases of 18 E-Mats. You should try some on consignment. First on your power panels. Also, if you watch TV, see the difference.
Try to find the time to come up for a listen. As a result of pasting the circuit breakers with TC, something special is going on. I think you'll like it and gain a little insight into what you have to look forward to in the new house. :-)
Almost another week has gone by since the circuit breaker box was pasted with TC. The SQ continues to improve. Its not quite at the magic four-week point yet, so we are looking forward to that.
Also, I added another E-Mat to the secondary circuit box in the master bedroom, for a total of three mats there. The noise in the system continues to drop with each mat added to the system. What's astounding is, just when I think there is no more noise to be removed, the noise is lowered even further.
I put four E-cards around the motor of the turntable too. The jury is still out on that one. The noise is lower but it seems to have gained a little muddiness in the bass department as a result. That's nothing new with the PPT products. There are times when they are first applied, at least in my system, where the sound is degraded for one to a few days ... but then it comes back better than ever. This is especially true with the bass.
Hey, you TC pasters, E-carders and E-matters ... do you have this album?
I dug it out last night for a friend during our listening session. I haven't played it in several years. It's really a great 70's classic rock record. If you've heard it, you know how good it is ... but NOW? Fantastic.
Is it possible to use so much TC that it takes more time than usual for improvement in sound? I built four short Maggie crossover jumper cables using stranded Furutech speaker wire terminated by set screw pressure against wire inside of barrel (gold) of banana connector. I coated the outside of the stranded braid thickly, thinking it would all spread out as the set screw flattened the wire outward in the barrel. The jumpers did not sound as good as I had hoped at first--they are improving after a week (25 hrs). The parts are of good quality---wondering if too much TC is possible, or is it self-limiting over time and just taking more time as it cures. Tim/Krissy?
"I coated the outside of the stranded braid thickly, thinking it would all spread out as the set screw flattened the wire outward in the barrel."
I think the thick coating may have something to do with the "problem." Only a thin coating is required. TC takes time to cure (dry) for it to be at its best. You've noticed an improvement over the past week, right? I think that's because your thick coating is starting to cure. It should continue to improve over time. That's my take anyway. :-)
I'm approaching four weeks out from pasting the circuit breaker switches and the mains. What I'm hearing now is impossible. Truly impossible.
@jafreeman Good morning Joe, great job on your jumpers, that's exactly how I would construct them The thick coating in this case will take a little longer to polymerize, but it will. Not sure if your wire and connectors are new, if they are , particularly Furutech makes for a rough beginning. Hope that helps.
Thanks Tim, that does help a lot. Yes, all parts are new. I only did one side for now--the Furutech is competing with the Cardas jumper kit with their Maggie pins. I was always suspect of the small wire gauge on that kit---tuns out they sound pretty good, but the Furutech is gaining. Omega mats lie beneath each Maggie, covering crossovers, fuse banks, wire connections---outstanding improvements.
That's awesome Joe! What's funny is I have been doing the same thing, not jumpers though. Playing around with their spades and RCA's. The break-in on those every bit as rotten as their duplexes, but so worth it a few hundred hours down the road.
I forgot to mention this morning, that a thin coat of TC on your jumper wires insulation will further enhance their performance, same if you completely coat the entire banana connector. Have a great weekend!
There is no doubt in my mind that an Omega Mat placed at the circuit breaker box gives outstanding improvements to both audio and video systems.
At my house and Mother’s apartment we experienced what fleschler just described. Both my Mother and myself thought the improvement to the 4K OLED TV(LG brand) and 43 inch Sony 4K TV was significant and worthwhile. Unlike some Tweek’s- the Omega Mat is easily removable, so if you move take it with you. Also it is easy to install and remove. If you do not like it send it back. Return postage is less than $8:00. It is a fun experiment to perform. David Pritchard
I had my speakers in my main system upgraded and after about a 800 hours of break in my system started to sound a bit grainy in the treble. I thought that my CD player was finally exposed for its age. I had already installed an omega mat over the transport. The power chord and umbilical connections had already even treated with TC. My intuition kicked in and I adjusted the omega mat to overhang the umbilical cord, since it is the only stock chord in my system, that connects the transport/dac to the power supply.
Immediately, the grain was gone, the noise floor dropped and the soundstage expanded significantly. This was completely unexpected so I just wanted to share it with the group.
I have had a similar experience with the Omega E-Cards. I have a card on each of the power cords where they connect to the equipment, and cards extending over the IC's where they connect to the equipment as well. Nice additional lowering of the noise floor was gained by doing so. A further gain was had by putting Omega E-Cards along the sides of my turntable motor.
The e cards do have the same effect, you just need to use more of them. What I like is they can go in some places that the bigger e mats are not practical. I have some e cards on my preamp and preamp power supply which would not work with the e mats because they would be blocking vent holes. I also have positive results with them on top of all of my power cords and interconnects, and next to speaker crossovers. They before and after with 20 e cards is amazing.
The E-Cards are effective, but one E-Card doesn't equal the power of one E-Mat. I've found the E-Cards to be really convenient for fitting into places where an E-Mat wouldn't have a chance of fitting.
As an example, after pasting my power receptacles (wall sockets) with Total Contact, I was able to fit an E-Card on both sides of the aluminum "box" that contains the socket. They just barely fit.
Another example was fitting a couple of E-Cards to my outboard turntable motor.
The E-Cards can be laid on top of the power cords right where they enter the component. Same thing with IC's. I have them laying sideways across each pair IC's in the system also.
Honestly, with all of the Mats, Cards and TC, the noise floor of the system now stands at "amazing." :-)
Well I’m a believer. I have had a few of the Omega Mats in my system for several months and actually forgot about them. Yesterday, I removed them and immediately it was like I sucked all the life from the music.
So, today I reinstalled them. Almost immediately I could tell the deep, involving sound quality that I have (guess) taken for granted come back into the sound! It may take additional time for them to resettle to full affect, but I am glad I tried this experiment. Highly recommended. Fantastic Tim!
I must admit that as per your statement I would say I had mostly forgotten the emats and ecards in my system were even there. However I do not intend to remove but it is gratifying to know that there is an immediate discernible difference upon removal. I would say they are one of the best tweaks ever performed in my system and yes the SQ is just taken for granted now.
You never know what you got till it's gone. Isn't that a song lyric? Anyway, early on in this thread I was sort of negative about this tweak, but now I know its the real thing! I have heard the sound difference and it is huge!
