One box solution

Hello Everyone,

I finally hit a wall with my health, I am almost 72 and have to downsize and move to a facility. It’s a very nice place but a lot smaller and my current set up can’t go so it’s all going in to storage.

I am looking for a one box solution, the Naim Uniti Atom comes to mind but I am looking for better if that’s possible. My budget is 15k or less and has to have a remote, I don’t get around so good. Actually need bookshelf type speaker suggestions too…so 15k or less for speakers and 15k or less for a all in one intergrated…I will only stream so the box needs to have a Dac and everything built in, airplay, and Quboz…maybe the Uniti Atom is the best solution but was hoping for something better…thanks..

Thank goodness you're going to a nice facility.

What about headphones?

Listen as loud as you like.

That's my plan for my future.

honestly there are people who would need it way more than I would. (Now, if someone could donate some brain cells....?)
I think selling it for a reasonable price and giving the money to a good cause would be the nicest way to make the best of it.

me me me

There you go!

I bet lots of folks around these parts who might.....

Maybe there is some less fortunate music lover out there who would

me me me wink

Donating is a noble effort. I’d maybe try to find a home that will appreciate it.  Maybe there is some less fortunate music lover out there who would. It's totally up to you and what you value, not others.

but if I could donate all the gear

I would suggest not to give it to Goodwill. You could sell it to e.g. Hawthorne Stereo and the donate the money to your cause. The way goodwill sells audio is not prudent to say the least....

KEF ls60 does it all very well in a very compact package.

I can recommend the Cambridge Evo 150 as well which competes with the older Naim

Maybe check out a Cambridge Evo 1....a true desktop all in one. Have not heard it yet but I read only good things.

Maybe add a pair of very nice headphones!

Best wishes!

+1 @grannyring I've heard great things from very discriminating folks on this forum (such as brownsfan) about Lyngdorf.

@ghdprentice

I live in Seattle, I have Pass Labs preamp two Pass amps… I will make a few calls..that’s a good idea … I don’t need the money from them but if I could donate all the gear and help some charity that would be good..

You might want good streaming headphones, with easy volume and mute, and tied into your TV so you can hear the TV without bothering others, mute temporarily for the 1,000 interruptions, back to it.

You can stream a variety of music genres thru your Smart TV’s Cable Box, some TVs have DVD/CD players built-in.

lots of choices for speakers, how loud can they be?

I would go with Simaudio for the all in one

Sorry to hear about your situation.

If I was presented with this situation I would find good high end dealer and trade in all your old system components and buy the very highest level you can. Storage at this time of life makes little sense... I'm 73. Buy buying up you will get more from your old equipment and will get a really high quality one box... would two do it? Linn Klimax + amp.

What part of the country do you live in?

@jc4659 thanks actually it’s a struggle going shopping and doing all the every day chores so having everything done for me probably won’t be to bad of a adjustment. 7k a month is a lot but I should be ok…after my house sells..

all the suggestions are excellent, Humm a good set of headphones also would be the way to go for late night listening…for tv and music.

For speakers my recommendation would be the YG Audio Cairn or Borreson X1 with the dedicated stands..You won't need a big speaker in a small room...
 For an amp/streamer/DAC:
Hegel H400...
I would also recommend a really good pair of headphones for listening during later hours..Look at HiFiMan from the Arya Organic & up...

@silverfoxvtx1800 Sorry to hear about your health issues and hope that being able to continue to enjoy music in your new facility brings you happiness and comfort. We will all be there at some point.

The Lyngdorf 3400 is great sounding in terms of an integrated. It is not heavy which is also a plus for you. Also, it consumes very little power and hardly even gets warm! The room correction feature also does wonders in helping remove room challenges.  Highly recommended.

I think a Mola Mola Kula would be a gold standard here, but list is a bit over your budget.  With an onboard Tambaqui DAC you are getting a world class DAC in a one box design.

I wold also look at a used Boulder 866 with DAC option installed.

these seem to go for around 1- -11k

And as a great value, the Moon ACE all in one is highly regarded, albeit a bit low on amps:
