I saw the back of an integrated and it depressed me.

Recently took a look at an ad for a Technics SU-G700M2 integrated amplifier, and honestly it made me a little sad for me, my hobby and the gear I ended up with.

When I "wore a younger man's shoes" I needed inputs! I was going to have a turntable, a Tandberg reel to reel and cassette player, and that new fangled CD player would be there as well.

This new integrated has 5 digital inputs and 2 analog inputs... and anyway I just want to drink while playing Billy Joel radio on my Roon streamer.

I hear you.  I remember when I sold my old yamaha reciever that weighted 80 lbs because it was old school copper because it wouldn't accept HDMI inputs.  I then noticed the Yamaha that replaced it weighted 20 lbs and I felt I had made a mistake.

My Denon AV reciever has HDMI inputs and RCA outputs for each channel.  I run RCA out for my front speakers to one input of my amp.

The rest of my inputs are digital so I run digital inputs to my DAC which effectively becomes my preamp and routes to a 2nd RCA input on my amp.

So I guess 2 RCA inputs and the rest digital would work for me today.

To each his own as for me it is digital all the way. albums are too costly, to fragile, to much a hassle to maintain for the perceived sound benefit. Oh, I own the Technics SUG 700  and it is a nice piece of gear for sure.

You know what else I miss from those old integrated units?  Those fine speaker connectors.  You know the ones.  You just pushed down on the plastic clip and fed the lamp cord into the hole. 😭   Time waits for no man.......

....I won’t beg to differ, @bigtwin @erik_squires .... 😒

Those lil’ clippy things are only a plastic step-Down from a Fahnestock clip....

Oh, sure...the plastic won’t short out, but I’ve had a couple break or seem so loose that any ’crackle’ or loss of channel would be my first culprit....

That, and the wire ’fray’ with 12g. cables?

Drove me to ’tin’ all the end ’stabs’.... (hidden benefit = I can ’haircut’ 10g, tin, and dB to other realms....)

....and those plastic b*st*rds are too close together....2 side by side, *meh*.

4 s/s, I’ve got ’fat fingers’ (...that some would say match my fat head...and they’ll get theirs....*nasty Snicker*....)

*Bleeah!* (Nasty Snicker, thrown in round file....)

I’ve seen 6, even 8 in a row....That’s Insane.

5 way posts or Dearth I mean Depth dammitDEATH......

Damn the warranty....

I'll take the phoenix plugs on my amp as a close 2nd pref....   anytime, anywhere, anyhow, anywho....

"’all-out HULK’"

Well, happy to report I didn’t have go to this extreme at the car show yesterday. Made a point to wear my "REAL CARS DON’T SHIFT THEMSELVES" t-shirt (with the familiar 5-speed shift knob icon). They were too busy smiling to notice how "cute" my car was. But, I will take your advice when we show my wife’s Mini Cooper S convertible next time. This car is so cute, you’re tempted to reach over and pinch it.

"That was my TV. I shot some NASTY dude speaking too often about overpopulation from TV screen in ravaging anger."

I figured the guy who checked it in used an alias.  I can finally find closer on this 20-year-old issue.  Thank you for stepping forward.

"My first ever car was a ’67 Sunbeam Alpine"

I hate to get all geeky here on British cars with 4-cylinder tractor motors under the bonnet, but I bought a Series V Alpine 30 years ago. 10 years later I added a turbo with the goal of matching 1/4 mile performance of a showroom stock 260 V8 Tiger. I now have the time slips to prove it. It’s truly "The Little Engine that Could." Still have the car (plus 2 Tigers) and thrash it at every opportunity.

It's the 57 Fury Factor..... *arm around shoulders*  Sorry......but, at least the Fury was a 'hot item' back then....👍🙄😎

You're too busy staying pointed properly to do so, unless you've got a 3rd hand...

....or ones' 'fav appendage' has learned a 'very new trick'.....*LOL*

(My fav 'Insane Major Lotto Win Splurge' is a vaguely 'street-able' version, with  exhaust diversion valves and a chip switch on the 'puter....BRG w/yellow detailing, of course.....) 😏

and 2-footin’ can surprise a Beemer with a Focus. ;)

It's all in the launch....

I’m a firm believer there’s never enough inputs on preamps and integrateds. I also believe in keeping digital out of said devices. Unless they are plug ins that can be upgraded. And even then I think it best to keep them separate. A good preamp or integrated may last many years and never need upgrading. You can't say that about digital.

"Gee, Officer Riley....don't know how that happened....."

I know....just isn't the same....:(

Personally, I've always wanted one of those LED 'crawl' readers, the long thin ones...  Better, the display element would apply like a bumper sticker without the hardware....👍

I like how you’re thinking. I just can’t decide if this is an opporunity for personal growth, or I should immediately change meds. Tough call.

My "for real" dally driver plate reads: "LUV HZ". I got a twofer here: A tribute to my ex, AND let the world know how much I enjoy music.

And... on my Sunbeam Tiger (after one too many dudes and dudess’ asking: "Is that an MG?". "NOTA MG"

Wonder if NUT KRKR for another of my other hot rods is taken?

So proud of both of us for having the discipline to stay on topic here..

LUV HZ ,,,You KNOW most interpret that as... 🙄  Plates need upper and lower case to get the 2nd...
