Forum Updates 11/24/2021
You probably noticed, but we’ve added some new functionality to the Forums to enrich your experience. Nothing like adding new stuff right before a long holiday weekend. 🙂
Mentions Improvements
First and foremost... we’ve improved the @Mentions function. We’ve fixed an inconsistent tagging bug and updated the logic. Now when you type "@" the suggestions will weight recent commenters first. Then as you type it will live-filter to match (all! not some!) users (like it should!)
Avatars are also included for easier identification.
Blockquote Formatting
You probably noticed, but we’ve added some new functionality to the Forums to enrich your experience.
We’ve changed the styling of blockquotes to make them stand out more. They would get lost on the darker odd-numbered messages. The next iteration is to support highlighting text and "Reply" to it in your message, and have it link to the original message. Baby steps.
Forum Text Editor
The former editor was not What You See Is What You Get. So your post would look different between compose, preview, and live. No longer is that the case.
The new editor is WYSIWYG, and addresses the most common complaint we hear—the erratic line break behavior.
Well, all that’s gone now. Pressing ENTER...
will create a new paragraph.
And pressing SHIFT+ENTER...
will create a single line break.
We now strip pasted content of hidden formatting that we don’t support. We did not do this previously and it caused a lot of discrepancies, which was not obvious unless you viewed the HTML. Goodbye hidden <span> tags!
We’ve also added additional formatting options: Underline, Strikethrough and Remove Formatting. The editor also shows you in the bottom left what type of formatting/container you are in.
New Forum Features
• Insert Externally Hosted Image: As you can see, images can now be added directly into your post by clicking the Image icon and providing the image URL.
• Emoji Menu/Support: 🙌 Rejoice! Use modern hieroglyphics to speak for you. 🙌
• Media Embedding: Pasting a URL from whitelisted media publishers like YouTube, Tidal, Bandcamp, Spotify, Giphy, Flickr, Twitter, and more will automatically embed the content dynamically. Share your Figma wireframes to your heart’s content. Check it out:
We appreciate you using this platform, and we know these improvements are long overdue, but we are committed to continuously improving each area of the site.
Not sure if anyone here is opinionated... but for the one or two of you may be, we would like to hear your feedback about what steps we can take for the future of the forum: Audiogon Forum User Survey
Feel free to test out the new functionality in this discussion. We're aware of a few mobile behavior discrepancies across different browsers and OSes. But if, and when, you encounter any bugs, you can post it in here but it would be better to let us know via a Support Ticket so we can compile everything for the developers to work through.

I for one understand the captcha's functionality. I would also suggest the forum put in some verification and security measures for new people seeking to register using multiple Audiogon handles. There seems to be zero security in this aspect of the site and there are so many unpleasant, 'radioactive' posts with a few new users just posting and posting without end. I for one am about done here. It is such a waste of time and there is now so little legitimately useful information provided by knowledgeable, nice, courteous people.

First, I'd like to give props to Tammy and team for all your hard work and for being so responsive. I hope that you'll reconsider the way Captcha is currently being deployed. Having to click on pictures every time I post is ridiculous. I will stop using this forum if this is a permanent "feature". It's a lot easier to ignore the spam than to have to spend the time doing that. |
You mean like this? Or: ”what are talking about Lewis “ To quote someone you copy the quote and click on the “ icon then paste it after the grey vertical bar, then press enter then press the “ icon again. The second quote, you use the “ key on your keyboard. Hope that helps. |
Hi I don’t have to click on pictures. I just have to check “I am not a robot “. Am I missing something here or is it IOS dependent? By the way, don’t even think about quitting this forum. You contribution is much appreciated. |
@spenav I'm still here! It appears the requirement to click on photos has been removed. I don't mind clicking "I'm not a robot" for every post (even though I am). |
@noromance I assumed something like that, but when they first implemented it, I was having to do it for every post. It was ridiculous! |
When you have time, can you look into why when I post a YouTube video, it shows normal size when previewed but when I hit "post", the screen blanks and stalls and I have to refresh it with the result of having a video about 1/3 the size of what it should be. Everything else works as advertised. All the best, |

WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THE SALES SECTION RE -LISTING IS USELESS TEMPLATES ARE USELESS Every time I try to make a change, like PRICE, on a TEMPLATE or old SALES FORM TO RE_RUN and old advert, it tells me that ’ I cannot change the price.’ well, the very point of re-running an advert is to sell a new product, a different product, the same product, or with a different price. your software is SERIOUSLY out of date. It’s a freaking nightmare. This makes a total mockery out of the idea of a ’template’. as it is not a template, whatsoever--- if one can’t change the numbers. it’s a total waste of time and life. a good site ..a properly done sales website that literally takes money from the users of said website.... wants to grease the money out of the users pockets by making it EASY... very very easy... not HARD. This is utterly self defeating and perverse. I would love to run more adverts but your system of sales keeps biting the users of said system. ceaselessly. |
