Cerious Technologies NEW Graphene Cables
Now, this is not a advertisement, just a posting sharing my experience on some well made great sounding cables at a very reasonable price. Besides, I don't think Cerious Technologies is set up for a big influx of cable orders.
But, if you get the chance to try these cables, please do.
I have been interested in the newer cables coming out that are using Graphene as a conductor. SR cables seemed interesting, but I always hated the way there cables had all those extra wires (with the active shields and such). I then noticed an ad early in I think November or December from Cerious Technologies for Graphene cables. I investigated how the cables were assembled and it seemed like quite a laborious process.
I ordered (with a 30 day money back guarantee) the balanced Graphene interconnects, and boy did they impress me. Such depth, soundstage, realism, frequency smoothness, effortless sound. I was truly impressed! I now have a complete loom of the Cerious Technologies Graphene cables. That is; interconnects, speaker cables, digital cables and power cords.
I ended up selling all of my other cables and to those of you who have read my postings know that cables have always been my curiosity.
So, as I began this post, let me again iterate, I have no alliance to the company, my posting is for those of you looking for an great alternate high quality Graphene made cable without spending a fortune.
Another Happy camper with Cerious Graphene cables. I received 2 IC (XLR) and PC (LC and HC) from Bob this Monday and inserted them into my system (Cary DAC, Ayre K-5XeMP Pre, Cary 200.2 Amp and Acoustic Zen Crescendo speakers), replacing Silnote Poseidon ICs and PCs. My system sounds a lot more organic and natural than before. Simply more texture and balance from the first note. I am burning them in for ~50 hr now. At ~ 20 hr or so, the sound hit the bottom and slowly improving. I also has a system of the DAC feeding directly to EAR 899 Integrated Amp via Audience Au24SE RCA, which sounds excellent in transparency, timber accuracy and extension, sound stage ... After the cable change, I would consider the Cary 200.2 system is as good as the EAR or better in some area. Very promising at this point and probably will improve even further after enough burn in period. Highly recommended. |
For prices you wouls have to check the website. There were ads on Audiogon offering special pricing but I no longer see them. http://www.cerioustechnologies.com |
Larry, I am very interested to hear your comments on the power cord, esp how it compares to the HiDiamond P4 and the HFC power cords you own/owned. I have now a pair of the GE IC (unbalanced) in my library system, directly from iDAC DSD to Aragon8008 and they sound very good, more break in maybe needed. jeony, would love to hear your comments if you A/B against the AU24SSE RCA. |
Great Caesar’s ghost, I would not have believed it if I didn’t hear it with my own ears! I had my Graphene Extreme High Current power cord (suitable for a power conditioner) burning in on my Audiodharma Cable Cooker for 207 hours. I placed it into my main system this morning going from a dedicated Furutech GTX-D (R) outlet to my HFC MC-6 Power Distributor, that supplies power to my Music Culture MC 501A CDP (Transport), Yamamoto Dac, Allnic L-3000 Preamp and Allnic H 1201 Phono Preamp. WOW! I’m impressed! The system sounded really good before the addition of the Graphene Extreme High Current power cord, but with this one change this is what I'm hearing: The soundstage opened up and its wider, deeper and more uniform. Seems like it’s easier for me to pinpoint specific instruments within the room. There is more texture to the music with a tighter, deeper, punchier bass. I hear more detail and greater dynamics. I'll report back when I place the Blue Graphene Extreme High Current power cord into the system on my Plinius SA Reference amp. |
bugredmachine; Although I don't personally know Bob I have emailed with hin and spoke to him on the phone a couplke of times. I believe he might be a one man operation (although I could be wrong). Bob lives and works in Arizona. Why don't you give him a call at this number posted in his website: http://www.cerioustechnologies.com/contact/contact.html |
Bob did eventually return my email. I asked if I could call him and he told me email is best. After purchasing a power cord I quickly decided to make another order and am still waiting for another cord and interconnects. Getting in touch with Bob to place my order was a bit of a hassle but worth it. I've waited seven weeks for a pair of speakers to be built. I love the small boutique companies and American made to boot. |
Bob from Cerious again. Yes we are small...a family operation. I am an "odd duck" in the audio world. First I give priority to repeat customers. While I was buried in orders two customers of mine really wanted their GE speaker cables re-terminated. I actually put off new sales to re-terminate their cable for free. We used to have a term for this - customer service! Second I do not like taking money for product I cannot ship right away. How many times have audiophiles put down money and then had to wait (six months...a year?) to get their product? Not fair to the customer. Period. We have gone from getting an order and sitting down and making the order from the ground up to running 20 sets of GE speaker cables at a time, 50 power cords at a time, all with the stress that each one has to be perfect so the customer gets a great product. If you do not get an immediate response we are working on it (our website got 200,000 hits last month!). Thank you all for the support and the patience. Lastly a note on the power cords. Everything about our power cords is unique. One of the most unique aspects is that they have REACTIVE jackets that actually react to vibrations and physically move to damp out vibrations caused by running current through a conductor (this is the main difference between the high and low current models as the jacket is designed with much finer reactive ceramics on the low current model versus the high current....). While I realize it is great fun to swap cords to A/B, this reactive process "resets" every time the cord is moved. While the GE cords will sound great immediately, just leaving them alone in your system will reap benefits everyday for 2 weeks as the ceramics hunt down and eliminate the internal vibrations around the conductors. This leads to those late night "Hey, wait a minute...I never heard that before!" moments we all treasure so much. So give vibrational peace a chance and let your cables settle. You will be rewarded. |
No worries. I assume he'll get around to responding eventually. I just don't know the ballpark price range - hot dogs or caviar - as opposed to other manufacturers using graphene. I had a hankering to buy some HFC products and if I could save some moola with a decent alternative, then I'm interested. |
I have the speaker cables coming this week and I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable they were so I would say cheese burger money. I have had a great experience with Bob so far but I was very specific in my initial contact as to what I wanted to purchase, rather than just requesting general prices. |
Disclaimer: High end audiophile equipment can sound different based upon brand, room acoustics, AC power supplied including grounding etc, therefore your milage may vary. Also, please take into account that there is a lingering effect when HFC products are removed from a system, although I tried to wait until the effect dissipated. In addition, while reading a comment made by Bob Grost: "Lastly a note on the power cords. While the GE cords will sound great immediately, just leaving them alone in your system will reap benefits everyday for 2 weeks as the ceramics hunt down and eliminate the internal vibrations around the conductors”. I wholeheartedly like and recommend the Graphene Extreme High Current Power Cords one which is suitable for power conditioners and the other one (Blue) for amps. (Read my above comments in this forum) To answer a few specific questions I’ve been asked: I had the Blue GE power cord on my Audiodharma Cable Cooker for 233 hours and then placed it onto my Plinius reference SA amp on Sunday. The amp still sounds as good as when I had my HF UR power cord on it. I find the GE power cord to sound better than the HF CT-1 power cord. I find the GE power cord to sound as good as, but probably better than the HiDiamond P4, based upon my memory. It produces a more realistic sweeter sound. Don’t ask me to be more specific because I can’t (Jazz). The GE power cords sound great on my Allnic T-1500 Integrated 300B amp. The HF UR power cord sounds better on my HF MC-6 Power Distributor but the GE sounded damn good too. Do the math, it doesn't take a genius! Obviously, in two weeks I’ll know the entire story. Best regards... |
ozzy: Glad to see you are still enjoying the BSG QOL unit. I find it fascinating that it responds to changes in a power cord and type of fuse but it does. It does respond to a 500 ma Synergistic Research Black fuse. It also sounds good with a SR 20 fuse. It did not benefit from my experiments with ECT placements. David Pritchard |
David, I do have the SR black fuse in my QOL. I really love the QOL unit. I'm not sure why they aren't used more. I am also using the Graphene Extreme power cord, and the Graphene Extreme balanced interconnects on that unit. Lak, Yes, thanks for your very informative posting. The only place that I preferred the P4 better than the Cerious Graphene was on my PS-P-10 power conditioner. |
Any more HFC users out there provide any comparisons? Happy to converse off-line if preferred. In contact with Bob now and his prices are excellent imo, IF, they can compete with the sound of HFC. I was on a path to obtain a full loom of HFC from wall to speakers but am happy to spend a heck of a lot less on Cerious if they deliver the goods. I need IC's first as I am one pair short today. Am interested in the SC's. And am on the border wrt power cables. Presently use AZ and SR (older tech) and find they add less to improvements than IC's and SC's. I know that many of you get more impact via PC changes, but I have not in the past. That could be telling in itself. |
The Graphene Extreme speaker cables arrived yesterday, two days ahead of schedule, which was a nice surprise. In thinking about what I wanted to say here I realized that it would end up being a full review so I will just give my initial thoughts minus all of the detail and post a review later. I was impressed by the attention to detail in the way the cables were packaged. The cables are substantial yet fairly flexible and beautiful to the eye. Everything that I could see and feel was perfectly constructed and exactly as I had ordered. I replaced my current cables with the GE and the good vibes kept a coming. The cables were clear and open with good spatial definition right out of the box. If you have tried several different cables you will know that most cables do not sound so good straight from the box, usually sounding either dark or thin and closed in spatially. The GE sounded unusually good right away. I have had the GE speaker cables running in for 24 hours now and they sound good enough that I have had no urge to put my 4x more expensive reference cables back in. |
geared4me, That's great. I also thought the interconnects and the speaker cables sounded pretty good right away. The power cords take a little longer to come into their own but still are not as bad as others. By the way, I had Bob make me a 4 meter Bi-wire set of Graphene Extreme speaker cables. Now that you have yours, imagine what mine look like. I carefully cable tied them together and I think they look quite nice. Enjoy! |
hi , i have a technical question regarding the Live & Neutral position in the wall outlet\plate that we use to plug our power cord into. As Bob mentioned earlier , his powercords have different conductors and the Neutral is optimized for "high loss". So as in UK, looking at the wall outlet with our Ground pin on top, the hole on the left is Neutral, Live is the right side. Does US powerline also configure the same way inside wall plate? Thanks for your info! Regards. -philip |

The speaker cables are just under three pounds per run for an eight foot length. I wouldn't connect them with banana plugs to a stand mounted monitor without strain relief, zip tied to the stand etc. For an amp you should be fine, especially if you will be using spades as that would move the center of gravity in from the end of the binding post. |
A/B’ed the GE IC vs my DIY Western Electric 16ga IC terminated with cheap Canare F10 RCA connectors (which IME bested some entry level IC like HD 2 and Audience AU24e) in my library setup: the GE IC sounded more open, about the same amount of detail, vocals were a little bit better with the WE. Then A/B’ed against my DIY WE 16ga with one added silver wire (7N+copper) and ICs terminated with WBT Nextgen 110Cu: better extension at both ends, faster, overall better in that system. The GE IC is a keeper but I would not be surprised if there will be a GE premium version with different connectors. Looking forward to the arrival of both the standard and high current version of the power cord. |
jazzonthehudson, Wow! Your DIY interconnects are made from 16 Gauge wire? Is that a typo? My Graphene Extreme interconnects are the balanced XLR type and those connections look about what most cable companies use. If I understand your post correctly, you just have the one Graphene interconnect. I think if you keep adding the Graphene Extreme interconnects you will be even more impressed. Also, do try the speaker cables. The prices are not that high for the sound quality improvement. |
ozzy, here on the Gon there are three threads, one dedicated, that talks about the NOS Western Electric (I got the info here but it started earlier at Jeff Day’s blog). The WE it is/was available from 10ga to 22ga. I use 14 and 16ga for IC, 10ga for SC and PC. As mentioned, I am very pleased with the GE and love to source from an "one man" shop, having had great experience with Jim @PAD and others. Prices are absolutely very reasonable. I bought the GE PC based on the feedback here; actually, Lak (thanks for your comments here) triggered my purchase for the PC as I know he has/had quite a bit of great PC in his systems. Thanks ozzy for bringing the new GE cables to our attention, as you did with other goodies! |
maxima95, Now that you mention it, it did take at least 2 weeks before being shipped. I hope to have it next week. Hang in there, as I said at the start of the thread, Cerious Technologies is probably not set up for a big influx of orders. But, the Graphene Extreme cables are something special. Try to contact him again during the next week. |
Maxima95, What you describe is frustrating and probably a flaw in the way the Cerious Technologies website etc is set up. Let's call it growing pains. The system probably works when orders are slow, but I think things have changed and now in high demand. Obviously one man can't do everything. I also sent an email to Cerious Technologies because I want to order their speaker cables and haven't heard back as of yet either. No offense meant or intended to anyone but I find the Cerious Technologies website hard to use and understand. However the products very good, and worth waiting for. |
