Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?

Just curious. People have asked about watches,
cigars, beer, and even ones income here.

1: What do you drive (daily & weekends)?
2: What might you be driving in the future?
3: What would you drive if $$$ was no object (pick 2 ;-)?

My answers to the above:
1: Toyota truck.
2: Newer Toyota truck.
3: Lamborghini Murcielago & McLaren F1.

Here in the Middle East, the choice is vast and fuel is not expensive.

My answers are:
1. 2003 Mercedes C200 (fully loaded, except GPS Nav)
2. Boxter-S or Toyota Land Cruiser VX-R (would love the 911 Turbo or the Lexus LX470, but beyond reach!)
3. Ferrari-Enzo (if available - only 400 were made) or McLaren Mercedes SLR for cars and Porsche Cayenne or BMW-X5 4.4i for SUVs

Cheers,
1.Subaru Wrx wagon
2.Subaru Sti
3.Porsche 911 turbo

No money to spend in luxury, just performance.
Update report: 1. 2004 Black/Charcoal Mercedes C230K daily driver, 2002 Triple Black Boxster S weekends 2. Black Ferrari 355 Spyder covertible or Black 911 cab (997)

It takes me arround the bay for fishing and pleasure.

My dream is for new Albin 32' to take me even further away into the ocean. Ain't no eye for the road I've got now pals!
What ever left over I can afford!..Ok not really.
But I did once pay $2500 for a vehicle years back. And at the time, my audio system was worth over $30k.
I think i had my priorities right.
Anyway, my car is a Tacoma truck now. And my system is still more than the truck is worth, and growing...
Weekdays, a Specialized Expedition Sport with Shimano components.

Weekends, a 2004 VW GTI 1.8t
I drive my friends cars! After a hundred and some years I finally decided to confront my fear of driving. I truly never believed I would drive, and never gave it a second thought, and for years and years and years I lived happily enough in just this way. On foot- at the mercy of taxi drivers and bus schedules- I was taking it all in! Then I decided to drive, and it was awful! You would have undoubtibly known it too, had you been anywhere near my campaign of terror. Other drivers were always screaming out their windows, flipping me off, even threatening to get out of their cars to confront me. It was well deserved. Though I never had an accident, it has only been the better judgement of others that have spared any of us any of that. I am thankful.Still, I have had to deal with the guilt of having to learn this way. It does not seem right to put anyone at risk just so I might learn to do this thing that most people have taken for granted. Yet, I was determined I would, even when it seemed hopeless. It has been my friends who have tought me, sticking with me long after my original driving instructor had the good sense to bail out, and well beyond the time I had continued on without hope. I resisted the whole way. Then, amazingly, it began to seem like fun! No. I must admitt that this does not seem like a good thing! But it meant the anxiety Id felt all my life about driving had dissipated, and then that I could really begin to learn. And more, that I trusted others to see me through an endeaver that was truly terrifying for me.It has been during this process that I became truly assured of the love my friends have had for me. So much has come out of doing something just this "simple". I wont lie. There is no happy ending. I am still a horrible driver! I am much better than I was initially, and I am improving rapidly. I am told I am within a reasonable margin, and even better than some. But even if I never drive again- and I care about all of you more than enough to consider this possibility, I am no longer afraid to drive! This freedom alone was worth the effort.
T-BIRD '92 ,Don't ask me why,I can't afford expensive cars and audio equipment all at the same time.LOL Would love a nice TOYOTA TUNDRA V8 though!A HAMMER H2 even better.
City car: Mcc Smart Pulse '02, the smaller car in the world !
For amusement and trips: BMW M3 E46 '04.
1.Porsche Boxter S and a Toyota 4Runner (good combo!!!)

2.Porsche Turbo and a Toyota Land Cruser

3.Porsche Turbo and a Toyota Land Cruser

2. The same unless I hit the lotto soon.

3. Another small but cool SUV, and a newer Porsche 911.

1: What do you drive (daily & weekends)?
2: What might you be driving in the future?
3: What would you drive if $$$ was no object?
I am thinking of a Porsche Boxster S. Anyone know of what is a must and what to avoid? Also has anyone used Ebaymotors? Thanks.
Current- BMW Phoenix Yellow Metallic M3 coupe and a BMW X 5 with the 4.4 liter V-8
Future- maybe BMW 6 series when they release an "M" version
$$$- no object to may to name Farrari 575 M Maranello or the McClearn F1
2004 Mustang GT 40th Anniversary edition. (as of 2 days ago) Black w/ Arizona Beige racing stripes, Leather interior, Mach 1000 Sound system, Power EVERYTHING

My speaker situation might suck, but at least im kickin ass on the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta say, that Mach 1000 sound system has a LOT of impact, the Mids smear and get somewhat tinny at high volumes, but as far as STOCK stereo systems goes, it is the best ive ever heared. (not the best in the planet min you, but the best STOCK system i have personally heard)
Congrats on the new "Tang" Slappy. I'm waiting for the New 06 GT Convertable to come out next year to get mine. 300 ponies and that 5 speed, lets see If I can get my sorry butt thrown in the pokie. Did I understand that there are 3 subs in that audio sys?
6 subs is what they advertize, 4 in the car and 2 in the trunk, however, the 4 in the car seem more like Misbass/bass. I wouldnt consider them subwoofers. (grin)

Actually right now im looking into Cold-air intake and upgrading the exhaust system. The only reason i could get this one is it was on serious discount because they are trying to get room for the 05's.

Still, it is gonna kill me to see tyhe 05 GT's and know they have 40hp on me, so with the cold air intake and exhaust overhaul i can probably pull a good 50-60 additional hp. I really want to get this baby running over 300hp.

Maybe donw the road if i ever have the money and DONT spend it on audio, i might see about a 9lb supercharger and kick it up to about 450-475.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Just picked up an '02 Audi S4. And guess what? It came with a premium "Bose" stereo system! Wooohooo!
So part of the reason my rigs aren't what they used to be... a few cars the prize of which is a 2002 BMW M3 tuned by DINAN to a full S2 (cold air, throttle body, ltd slip, software, total suspension L3, exhaust, etc plus Dinan wheels/PS2 tires and Brembo brakes). LOT of fun to drive, but not as much fun as audio still. Perhaps once DINAN releases their supercharger... ;)
1) 1998 Land Rover Discovery LSE, purchased used, and lifted and armored for off-road use. I hate the gas mileage and am about to sell it

2) Very soon, a new Honda Element. THeyre so ugly theyre cute, and are amazingly versatile

3) God. Ferrari Enzo, Aston Martin Vanquish, Range Rover, Porsche 996 GT2, Mercedes SL55 AMG. That's just a few!
Update, the drop top 6 series is in the garage! (blk on blk) Looks like the Joules VZN 160's will need to wait till the tax return...
I just ordered a BMW 325i with the Sport, Premium and Cold Weather package with leather and zenons. The audio system is ok with the HK upgrade but not like the Lexus with the Mark Levinson, however the Lexus put me to sleep. My wife, on the other hand purchased a BMW 330i with the Performance (M suspension),Premium and Cold Weather package with leather and zenons. BMW sales are slow on the 2005 3 series because the new 3 series is coming out in March with their new I6 motor. Good time to buy a Bimmer. Good deals.

My favorite car to own: A replica of the 1965 Dodge Ramchargers A/FXer that I could ride on the street. Holy s***, I would kill my self in 3 seconds. For a street car that is really driveable day to day: a turbo Porsche or the new 2005 BMW M5
2005 BMW M3, 6 speed. I don't really turn on the car stereo much, the engine sings for me.
1994 Jaguar Sovereign XJ V12.
Engine size 6,000cc`s!
(pre Ford takeover-last of the real Jags)
Up graded power supply--Now runs on LPG--(Liquid Petroleum Gas-without compromising performance).
Here in Europe getting equivalent of 40mpg in comparison to using gasoline!
Cost me $4,000 on ebay 4 weeks ago.(Just like some Audiogon bargains I`ve had in the past)
A fraction of the cost of my Big rig---5%.(Priorities about right)
Smooth as Silk.
Could not want for more.
BMW 330D,2003 model,outomatic,white.Future also BMW.Cost no objection:Ferrari,I guess...
In my family we drive 1999 Honda Civics - good, reliable transportation. Once I am done upgrading my hi-fi, remodeling our house, and buying all the furniture my wife wants, I'll worry about cars. After I first get a car for my wife that she wants, I'll buy a (used, like my hi-fi) Acura RL or TL. But this is low down the list of luxuries that are important to me. Right now the greater luxury is not having any car payments and more free cash.
Daily: 91 300ZX twin turbo 350hp.

Sunny days / wk.ends: 74 Detomaso Pantera 450hp.

Every nite: McIntosh 2500
I should update- last April I picked up a new Acura TSX w/ a 6spd.

My new lust is the new Ford GT- the working class super car as it is called. It feels weird saying I want a Ford, but this car is amazing!
I currently drive a Lexus: either a 2000 RX300 or 2003 ES300 (depending upon the wife & weather.)

Shortly looking to replace the RX with a new Acura MDX.

Hmmm...my dream car would probably be a Ruf rt12 turbo or an Acura NSX.
Daily driver is a lexus sc400 (still the best car lexus has produced) and for sunny days a tiptronic boxster S (Hurly Heywood uses a tiptronic in his personal porsche and he races porsches so who am I to argue about a manual for street use?). Dream car would be a ferarri 275 GTB nart spyder.
~~~~2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. 23 mpg, V-6 4sp auto, 200 watt Infinity stereo, Smooth Ride, Can Smoke the 17" Michelins on Command, and transports huge speakers after removing seats. Done nonstop 1400 mile trips to pick up some large floor standers, $100 in fuel. Ability to see over the cars in front of me, as to whats going on up ahead. Great trips. Great Memories. Sounds Like an Ad.
Just The Facts
1996 Benz C 280 Sport and red Chrysler Crossfire. Hope to replace them both with a Benz CLS rather sooner than later.
Dream car is and has been for years: Ferrari Maranello 550 or 575 M. And to haul the family around, a Maseratti Quattroporte would be perfect :)
Wow, I think that I spend more on my cars and less on my audio than some people here. I drive a BMW and a Nissan Armada.
