Wisconsin - Anyone interested? Mrmatt, There's a group of Wisco 'philes in the GB, Fox Valley, MKE and MSN areas communicating and occasionally meeting--some very different system setups and ethos but everyone is respectful and enjoys hearing different rigs. Have a peek at http...
Review for Dynaudio BM5A powered pro speakers My studio reference monitors are Dynaudio BM15As. They are non-fatiguing for studio monitors, clean, quiet enough to show any noise floor issues in the mix, and the mixes translate pretty well. They have plenty of power to fill medium to large, he...
How revealing are Grado sr-60s'? Oh, and I also agree with the person that said many digital rock transfers aren't the greatest. I do find that some can be thin or grainy, especially digital recordings from the 90's. Hey, I love rock from hard ass metal to more laid back stuff. T...
How revealing are Grado sr-60s'? Grado SR60s are very good phones for the price but the bass improves quite a bit as you move up the Grado line. Bright and harsh I'd say you're hearing a cheap headphone amp. I love Grados but they don't flourish if not plugged into to good gear. ...
Dilemma of Warped LPs - is seller liable? BTW springbok, were the records sealed and unplayed? If not, then they weren't mint IMO. That word is quite misused.
Dilemma of Warped LPs - is seller liable? I can't even count how many LPs I have bought brand new sealed that have come out of the packaging warped--dozens and dozens--a handful have been unplayable. It was so bad fron one local store that that after returning many and getting more warped...
AudioQuest PT tonearm mass? Thanks, Bob. Vinyl Engine is a great resource and one I've been all over recently--but the particular mass figure isn't available there or anywhere else. It is considered a "medium mass arm" but that could mean anywhere from, what, 9g to 13g or so...
Inexpensive arm for bedroom table- Linn, AQ etc? Thanks for all the advice Jalanc. Unfortunately it's not my turntable, so modifying it at all is out of the question--gotta stick with what's there. Any other thoughts on Linn-mount tonearms, friends?
Analog vs. CDP: A fair comparison? I disagree on the software concerns--vinyl is very abundant and can be much cheaper than CDs as used--just make sure you have a good record cleaning machine in this case. As far as specialty heavyweight vinyl pressings, they don't cost any more th...
Inexpensive arm for bedroom table- Linn, AQ etc? Will Rega fit without mods? IIRC, Linn mounts 211 pivot to spindle and a length of 229; Rega 222 and 237 long and ditto for Grace 707--couldn't find hole size for any of them but this didn't look like a proper match for a Linn armboard? Color me c...
Calling all Musicians out there Yup, Harmony-Central is ok if yoy play acoustic or electric guitars, bass or drums. Some of the forums are fairly off-topic at this point but there are also a few good ones like the acoustic guitar and live sound forums. Lots of review resources a...

binaural microphone question There was a great article in TapeOp magazine several issues ago that dealt with building a binaural "head mic". They used a manequin head for that model to try and keep some of the natural facial features in for sonic influence. If you don't have ...
