Bluesound

Anyone getting this message? Player notification remote service error internal server error.

YES !!!  It has made the app almost unusable.   I just posted on another thread about this issue.

I get a “connection” error now and again but it doesn’t seem to actually affect the function in any way.

Same problem here.  Tried everything to no avail.  Can't find anything on the web.  I use Amazon Music as well.

Just tested my Vault.  Has firmware from last week I think.  No issues. What device are you using?

Have you tested it with Radio Paradise or another streaming service , Audicy or similar?

My Node is up to date, running 4.4.19.

No issues here. (Knock on wood)

Mostly Qobuz and RP.

I have a Node 2i and get this error sometimes while streaming from SiriusXM or Amazon Music.

I use these services on my Node and in my car - it seems like there are occasional access conflicts due to being logged in to the services in the car and on the Node at the same time.

The error is easy to clear, though, and never interrupts streaming.

Yup, I get it too. It’s annoying but doesn’t seem to interrupt streaming…Just have to hit the ok a few times. And it literally happens every time I stream. It’s just dumb🤷🏼‍♂️

YES!  I thought it was a glitch with my system. Good to know I'm not the only one seeing it.

Yes, this issue began last week on my Node 2i.  It seems to happen most often when playing a "Station" on Amazon.  Sometimes it won't play the Station at all,  displaying that message; other times it will play two or three songs,  then stop and display the message. I didn't think to try rebooting,  but I will now.  But I think it's an issue with either Bluesound or Amazon.

I got that message today using Quboz. I rebooted and it played normally. Then it happened again and I just started selecting various playlists and it stopped. I'll update if it happens again.

I would recommend going into the Bluesound music services screen, then log out and reenter the credentials for the service that's giving you trouble.  Hope this helps, cheers.

So today, the problem is even worse. I can't log in to Amazon Music HD at all. Perhaps it's time to try Tidal!!

I contacted customer support via their email and unfortunately I received a worthless response.    They say they do not have an immediate solution, but has passed the info to product dev and QA for review and consideration in a future update. Sorry, we were unable to provide direct assistance at this time.

THIS IS THE LAZIEST POSSIBLE RESPONSE.

I have done a factory reset, which unfortunately auto updates to the latest defective software version.  I deleted and reloaded the app on my ipad.  Just to be clear, I have only tried to stream Amazon Music HD.  It is very slow when you select an artist and often greys out.  Then when I finally get the album and select a song, it often does the same thing again.  Sometimes the song will play, but often it takes multiple tries to get it to work.  I have not tried anything else since I seldom listen to Radio Paradise or have my own curated lists.  Does anyone have experience with the new WiiM Pro or any other reasonably priced streamer.  I am now primarily concerned about buggy user software (or maybe its actually the OS)?  Funnily, I run a fairly big Sonos set up too and even with their negative publicity about the new app, I find it is so much better than the current state junk app from Bluesound.   As consumers, we need to make sure this junk update gets attention and forces them to rollback or fix whatever junk they put out there.  So please everyone with issues, send them emails.  Just very annoyed with them and especially after the tech support response.

My experience is that it is only happening with Amazon Music. I also play Idagio and radio stations through TuneIn and have not had a problem with either.

Ga_ audio I did email them a received the same stupid response.  I had issues with the last update also. Bluesound better get thier s**t together. Maybe time to upgrade to a better streamer .

Following the comment on Amazon music creating the problem, I found this posted today on Steve Hoffman's board:

Exactly, I finally go Bluesound Tech this morning for same reasons of having (3) Nodes not working with Amazon Music. They have given me several options to remedy, but none work. Finally they admit, the following: "Amazon; specifically, the Amazon Web Services (AWS) server from which your Bluesound players pull data is experiencing an outage. We are in touch with our contacts at Amazon; Amazon hopes to have the issue resolved soon."
Really a bummer, I am having a wedding party at my house in a few days and need to stream my music. I was told to reload the Bluesound App after the fix from Amazon. Personally, this has been going on for a couple of weeks and now does not work at all! Ready for a new streamer.

Everything seems to be working on the app but I have no sound. Playing Qobuz. Any suggestions?

Curious, if it's an Amazon problem are others streamers experiencing this problem ?

I am using Qobuz not Amazon so it’s not just an Amazon related issue…haven’t tried rebooting but I’ll give that a shot. When all else fails reboot!

I have ordered a WiiM Ultra.  Will let everyone know if Amazon has an issue with WiiM once I get it hooked up.

Update:  I hooked up the WiiM Ultra, streaming from Amazon.   It appears to be working "OK" although the lag time when you select a different track is much longer than the way Bluesound used to work.  I noticed a couple of times the song had to be pressed a couple of times before it would play.  The album cover shows up on the device before the song plays.  I was jumping around quite a bit changing songs to try "break" it  to see if it greys out etc but that has not happened (yet).    This is a very prelim assessment since the WiiM just arrived but it is functional with Amazon.  I have only used headphones to test it so no comment on sound quality although the sound through inexpensive headphones sounds quite decent.  So .... either the Bluesound implementation of Amazon is broken or BlueOS v 4 and its app are junk.  The WiiM unit appearance is nice, but the box feels plasticy.  For  $327 don't expect much more.

Further update WiiM Ultra.  I have continued to try break it.  Frustratingly, I searched for all Paul McCartney albums and it returned just 4.  Looking at Amazon Music on my PC, there are dozens.   I tried Paul McCartney and Wings and it returned No Results.  It looks like the WiiM implementation of Amazon is also lousy.  It would be nice if Amazon would build an Amazon Connect to get around these streamer issues.  So I am wondering if it is simply too difficult to use Amazon.  May be worth looking at Tidal Connect.

I switched from Amazon to Quboz after the last software update crippled AMHD. Things that I thought were BluOs related are actually shortcomings of the streaming service itself. Sometimes I search for something under the artist name and nothing comes up, but if I search for the specific title it finds it, but it's still not showing under the artist releases.

I suspect the issue is with Amazon, not BluOs. Not enough servers, app updates not yet shared with external services, etc. If you like your Node, I would be a little patient.

A simple workaround is to add what you want in the Amazon app as a favorite, then open it in BluOs from your library. Then you can save it as a BluOs playlist.

This error popped up for me a number of times when I was trying to use Amazon Music - BluOS blames it on a faulty API on the Amazon side, and they don't have a fix for it. I had enough of the wonky Amazon/BluOS interface and switched to Tidal, with no similar issues since that switch.

Using the Amazon app on an iphone or PC or through Carplay, it works perfectly well.  The problem clearly lies in the API/integration with BluOS.  Unknown is if it is software engineering at Amazon or Bluesound.  I may just try Tidal free for a month and see how it does and if Amazon/Blue figure it out by then.

If you're going to try another service, I would recommend Quboz over Tidal. You can get a free trial there as well. It just sounds better.

I tried Qobuz but I didn't like the interface at all. Whereas Amazon has a "station" based on a particular artist, Qobuz did not seem to have that feature. The SQ was great, however. I think I'll try Tidal and see if their interface is better. If it is, then I may step up to a better streamer; I have been eyeing the Innuos Pulse. The Sense App supports both Tidal and Qobuz, and also Idagio which I also use extensively. I communicated recently with their support staff (very responsive, btw) about whether they will support Amazon in the future. They sent me an explanation on why they have given up on their plans to support Amazon streaming.

I just signed up for 2 months of Tidal ($2 special).  No issues with the Node or WiiM.  I am noticing a difference in the sound between these streamers into a DAC.  Should there be a difference?  The Node 2i sounds "fuller" and more musical.  The WiiM sounds more lean.  I disabled the EQ in the WiiM app.  I was under the impression that the digital signal would be the same.

Amazon music is back playing on my node 2i.  Incidentally, this was the first time I had any service not playing correctly with the above error message on my node in years of use.

NodeX w/ Amazon seems to be working this evening.  IIRC, this is the second time in the last year that this interface has been problematic.  I listen mostly to vinyl but do use streaming for background quite a bit so am glad the problem is resolved.

Yep, problem seems to be fixed. I'm still going to try Tidal to see how it compares,  both in SQ and the OS interface.

Same experience here with the latest upgrade. I also have some Marantz (HEOS) - no problem. Firestick driving a Sonos Beam - No.problem. And of course native Amazon devices - no problem. So looks like BluOS side API to Amazon got AFU'd in the upgrade. Or the upgrade is pounding the Amazon gateway into overload with what would resemble a DDOS attack. Either way, it all points back to BluOS.
