Well once I posted here. I turned the unit off and on about 3x. Something happened. My network told me that a new device was found. Yah!
Now the HDD's are doing a restore. At least that is something better than a screen that tells me the name and model.
It looks like it will take some time to complete. Wish me luck.

I have two Aurrender. It has never been more complicated than to plunk it down. Plug in the (I use a WIFI extender with a short Ethernet cable to Aurender), turn on the unit. It lights up and as I remember gives you a code to enter on your phone / pad. Then you set up from Conductor.
To help, we need exact details of what you did and what the Aurender is saying.

It is very strange your Aurender N10 does not connect to the network.
please do not panic. Since you already rebooted your modem and router, please power down the N10 for 10 minutes and restart it. Ensure all Ethernet cable connections are tight. Please confirm the Conductor App connects to the N10.
if N10 still does not connect to the Internet, please send an email to support@audiogon.com.
please keep us posted

You said your “ Now the HDD’s are doing a restore”. Does that mean your Aurender N10 is connected and working?
Please keep us posted. Thanks.

Plug a laptop into the same CAT5 cable that goes into the Aurender. See if you have Internet. It could be the cable or bad port on the switch.
|
I hope the above suggestions help you get your Aurender N10 to connect to the Internet. I suggest you spend no more than one hour working on this issue (and maybe less).
if N10 still does not connect to the Internet, please send an email to support@audiogon.com and ask for help. Please keep us posted.

I had similar connectivity problems solved by deleting the app and then downloading it again. Please don't ask why it worked as I haven't a clue. But that was only the start of my problems with the Conductor app on which I am in regular contact with Aurender customer service. Perhaps I will enumerate the issues further in the future especially if they don't get solved.

I have it playing now. Things a re working.
I guess the reboot of my network did it.
It sounds like a nice upgrade from the Mac Mini I was using.
The next step for me is to get my music from the SS hard drive I store my music on into the unit.
Is is as simple as connecting the SS drive to the back of the unit and let it find it?
|
Honestly, it should sound much better than just a “nice upgrade” from a MAC mini. This is a huge upgrade.
Yes, just connect the solid state drive. The Aurender’s is great at detecting attached or network drives and importing the files.
We need to talk more if you are experiencing such a small upgrade in sound quality.

What part of nice connotes small?

@bill_peloquin
Cat5 is actually only rated for 100Base-T. Most people at home and work are on gigabit (1000Base-T) which requires Cat5e or better. I'd use a Cat6 cable if I were you.
You may want to consider putting a DHCP reservation in on your router so it uses the same IP address. Or, there is a way to assign a static IP to your Aurender if needed.
|
It sounded like it was a glitch caused by a computer virus, aka Windows 10.

@gs5556 If MicroLost made anything that didn't suck....it'd be a vacuum.

Unfortunately, my link #2 above has an incomplete address. The new link for Transferring Music Content to Your Aurender, is below.
Transferring Music Content to Your Aurender link
I suggest you write down these tasks on paper before you actually start the process. The MAIN transfer issue is the album cover art images. If they are stored with the album file and coded as folder.jpg, you are ready to ago. Please review the above instructions on how to handle cover art transfers.
@bill_peloquin, The BETTER question is how were your albums loaded to your hard drive? If you used iTunes, you have to create a process of finding the cover art and transferring it to the album files so that it gets copied over to the Aurender correctly. If you used something else, please check your hard drive and ensure the cover art image is coded correctly and stored in the correct location.
For example, iTunes does NOT store the album cover art with the song but hides it in another encrypted folder. The explains why my album transfer to the Aurender did NOT display the album cover art. Aurender is not responsible since Apple decided to not imbed the album cover art in every song/file in iTunes, like just about every other piece of music software does. I found a custom Script created by Doug Adams that runs in iTunes and saves the album art to the song folder as a JPG file. Please follow Doug's detailed install instructions carefully since you have to make the Script available in iTunes to run it. You pay after you install the Script. After running it, I checked the results and every album that had album cover art now had a JPG file associated with that song (in the correct folder). Please TEST this process using five albums and do the transfer in small batches. Doug's Scripts might limit the number transferred at a time (please confirm this, since when I ran it, the limit was 10 albums at a time).
Dougs Scripts link
All my albums were copied to my hard drive using iTunes. After running Doug's Scripts, all my albums, including the cover art, were correctly coped over to my Aurender. I hope this helps.

Just a note when i got my A10 it says in the manual that only an apple tablet will be able to set it up properly, the phone app will not let you set it up. Not even sure if your android phone can set it up let alone connect to it.

I’ve been lurking a while; first post. I too bought a used aurender. Love the sq compared to my small green computer microjukebox ( a great product by the way in its price class).I also have the same problem. If I leave it a little while ,without using it, it loses it’s network handshake . My only way to remedy is a hard shutdown which I understand having read about it from aurender can result in hard drive loss upon restart. Aurender customer service is excellent but I only called once and got it restarted and left it after that. @treynolds155 can you explain the networking issues better or tell me where to look for that sounds like it might be the issue.
|
As with many streamers, the Aurenders will be most readily accessible if you use your router to assign it a static IP.
|
@rickderuyter, i have no clue why your Aurender is losing its network handshake. I own an Aurender N20 and an N10 previously. I never had this issue.
Please send an email to Aurender Support and ask them. Even better, I suggest you use their remote support request method under settings.
It probably means some setting on your router needs to be changed. Or, maybe something else.
|
@rickderuyter , I'm in IT so I've seen my share of strange networking issues. Due to location, I'm forced to use a wifi extender set up in bridge mode. So it simply feeds the ethernet cable out to my Aurender, and doesn't extend the wireless signal or become part of a mesh network. Signal strength is full bars.
My N100h would play for a while, then disconnect for a short period and come back on with the next IP address in the dhcp scope. I'd have to relaunch the Conductor app and re-find it and play some more until it happened again. I tried everything to no avail. I put this squarely on the NetGear equipment and NOT the Aurender.
Aurender gave me the dope on how to get into the backend and assign it a static IP address and no more problems.
|
Additionally, for my home office I use Cisco Business access points, one set up as a bridge and not once had an issue with my N100h. I just keep everything off that network for security reasons.
|
I am running now and it is fantastic.
I bought an ipad to run the app.

I'm having same experience with setting my new A200 up on my network. My A200 receives an internet signal and I am listening to music but I cannot see my A200 listed on my Network anywhere. I have rebooted my router and and server and then turned my A200 off for 10 minutes, but still cannot see it listed anywhere on my list of devices.
My A200 does have a static IP address.
UGH>>>>>>>
