About users with hidden agendas
If you know that a user is a dealer and they fail to disclose and attacks other users because they make a point against their interest, do you expose the user?
I know of a gentleman here that continuously posts and goes after people and does not disclose who he is.
What are the ethics of this forum?

There are objective listeners, half-way objective, and the 'money talks' group. Hopefully a small minority in this forum. I am of course NOT thinking of those who disclose their attachments openly, who often contribute a lot to the forum (e g Ralph Karsten / Atma-sphere; Duke Lejeune / Audiokinesis, and Jonathan Carr / Lyra), giving their professional judgement without promoting their own products. It was Bob Dylan who famously said, money doesn't talk it swears. But maybe 'whispers' is often more precise. Camouflaged interests. I think the situation is even worse, on the web. There is a new style of halfway-advertising, not clearly showing the money connection. Or, not new exactly, but certainly growing. Lets say I search for user experience of product X. I Google X, but have to wade through ten or more pages of commercial or semi-commercial content, before I find something useful (actual user experience, objective listening). I wonder about tips and tricks, how to avoid this overflow of commerce, and instead get right to what I look for. Maybe someone can advice, or, if this is relevant for many here at the forum, it could be a new thread.

@o_holter - I guess it's a bit like walking into a real store, you have to walk by the shiny wrapped head height products until you find what you're looking for. And when you're ready to cash out, there's other things to distract you at the checkout. |

@ted_denney I have a Master Coupler X2, just wanted to say despite the heat you're getting in here, I thank you for making good gear, I'm very happy with it. |
I was not talking about you @pesky_wabbit . And I don’t think it was in one your threads that the posts were deleted. |
@pesky_wabbit , maybe my English is missing in translation, are you saying I can delete someone else’s posts? I can only delete the thread or my posts. Even if I did I would. |
You can only delete you own posts and threads. You can make a complaint to the administrators and request that a post other than your own be removed, and from the evidence @Ted has provided you can request that a complete thread be removed. By OP I meant original poster of the post, not poster of the thread, I think that is where the confusion arose. |
Taking screen shots may be sufficient, but a method I find useful recently with threads becoming even more ephemeral than the 24 hour news cycle is (on a computer) to right click and save as web page complete. That saved page will not be updated. Very cool. If you save them under a purpose named directory it will make it easier for forensics geeks from NCIS to find them. |
@pesky_wabbit reposted @ted_denney posts that I guess were deleted on 2/3@7:03PM. Please just give up the arguing about deleting postings. It makes Python’s “The Arguement” tame by comparison. Really, how about this whole discussion? Clearly you need to be clued in on the specs AND how something sounds which is impacted by the specs typically, although not always. |
for whatever faults, and harking back (as we always should) to the title and premise of the original post... ted denney for all his writings here, states on all substantive posts exactly who he is, not in the form of a a-gon handle, but in real life... so some feel his company may sell pretty ridiculous stuff, with some snake oil quotient... be it as it may (or not, this judgment is rightfully in the eye of the beholder), but you know exactly who’s speaking... that is fair ball by me...i can then discount what is said accordingly, because i know who it is... so what is the problem? |
@jjss49 here is my problem 😵💫 I am new to the forum and took interest I 3 threads, now gone, where @ted_denney did not have any information that he was a seller so I respectfully commented one a few things that are just not true about Ethernet and I posted the links to Ethernet’s governing body specs and IEEE specs. I do not need to prove anything because it is in black and white documentation from the Ethernet gv and IEEE. It is all there for anyone to read. I had known that he was selling the nonsense I would have not made further comments. At no moment I was rude or unreasonable or Un respectful. But @ted_denney when he realized that what he was saying had no engineering or science facts became personal, aggressive, made fun of my name, and asked me to prove all of it. He also questioned my integrity which he has no base for it. He did not do this with me but with others, and many of them called him out by name which I had no intention to make his name public. I am better than that. i do not know everything or am the ultimate authority, I seek knowledge from those who know more than me, and there are Multitudes of them, when I can share my knowledge I do it in a respectful and kind way, because even those who do not know as much as I do in a topic, know a lot of things I don’t. i know English is not my language so I apologize for bad grammar and using wrong words, but I hope that I provided you with a fair explanation. There are so many kind people in this forum that made me sad he treats people the way he does when the don’t agree with him. |
I'm not sure of the intent with TD on this thread, but I think he may be winning this battle. Is the opposition saying that he starts posts and tries to sway people to his products without identifying himself as a designer? I think he is posting to generate conversation and have people become more comfortable and trust him and his business. He can have a disrespectful tone at times, but maybe he never learned to play nice with all people. What do you want him get counseling or go to confession? I didn't read this whole thread but what's the reason for tearing him a new one? |
It is useless to debate with anyone unable to be logical and with an agenda.. I myself always present arguments... Argument are a string of thesis attached in an order... being conscious of our own premises is very important to pounder the value of a conclusion... Reading a book and understanding it call for that elementary knowledge of logic and some consciousness about our own internal state of mind at the time of the reading.... Many are unable and anyway unwilling to be logical ...And conscious of what they are doing anyway...They do it without being conscious at all...They are mind conditioned...
Add to this necessary logical tool in any debate the complex information we must understand to speak about anything in a wise way...Do you think many people are able to do that? For example... In audio experience the ONLY important CONCRETE experimental discovery i ever make is acoustic science... Believe me or not there is almost no thread about acoustic in audiogon... Some ask how do we manage our room yes... But it is relatively rare specific questions compared to the vast other unimportant one and a question asking for very complex matter... But no one created here an acoustic theoretical and practical information thread save me few days ago... Not much interest manifested.. Think about that... Acoustic is the most important fact for audiophile experience, not the name of your Dac, turn table amplifier or speaker designer.. Between the acoustical settings of the recording room of a musical show and your ears it is not your specific audio system the most important factor but the specific state of your speakers/room relation to your specific ears... The 2 most inportant factors are acoustical : the recording room and your own room... Then what are small room acoustic power and means? If you think you know think again... And look at my thread...

@bjesien I would not want or expect anything from him. In this thread, which I started to find out how to handle the situation privately with the forum administrators because I did not know the forum's protocol, he was called by name by many others sharing their experience with him, he continued to degrade others like @mahgister for example. All I did, after he was named by others, was to explain my situation, because like you, asked to explain what happened. The sad thing is that multiple threads, like the one I respectfully commented, are no gone so you can't corroborate. I know I have never degraded him, or anyone, because achieves nothing but to highlight unkindness. All I did is to point out what he was saying is not true by summarizing the specs, which I have contributed to, and shared the links to the governing bodies, like IEEE and Ethernet, documentation for everyone interested in understanding and maybe learning. Frankly, it is sad that all this energy spent in this thread was not used to share knowledge on more pleasant things; but at the same time, for myself it is important to share not just good experiences, but bad ones so others don't have navigate through them. This is particularly important, because in this forum there is no way to ignore some users that are just rude and degrade others for no good reason other than having to do so to defend false statements supporting the products you sell and continue to lead threads in the wrong direction.

And there we have it, the hidden agenda, not so hidden now, is out in the open. Me, the lead designer of Synergistic Research, started a series of threads speaking under my own name and title asking, what is audio really all about? Is it about the numbers? Is it about graphs? Or is it about enjoying our stereos? This made certain people uncomfortable, angry even. They begin acting out, some were even rude to me and others so I called them on their BS and they started this retaliatory thread and dog piled in. Their behavior patterns are always repeated, and are clear to see in this thread and others. Bottom line guys, ultimately Audio is Subjective. Yours in music, Ted Denney III Lead Designer/CEO Synergistic Research Inc. |
Interesting. I didn't catch these patterns or behaviors in those threads because I didn't read through them. They're the type of threads where people just get on a rant and someone disagrees, etc. The only threads I have less time for are the ones where the new owner of a product is so thrilled with X, that they tell everyone else they need to buy it and argue with everyone that doesn't agree with them. I have seen some posts where TD insults people and later says they insulted him, etc. The whole accumulation of this stuff is the rickety bridge I usually try to avoid on the path towards audio ecstasy. |
This is a seller mantra... Audio experience is mostly an experimental and correlative process between the perceiving ears and the control of the gear and ESPECIALLY the specific acoustic control of the speakers /room relation... It is a science based experimental PROCESS between a subjectivity and some objective factors.., Not a static state after buying some gear...It is a personal history of audio discoveries not some subjective impression only... It is not because someone is PLEASED by what he just bought that it means that "ultimately audio is subjective"... Save for someone who sells something.. I prefer to sell creativity...and intelligence... At no cost...Save thinking process time... Instead of attacking you like you did for my system/room, i only argued with LOGIC without never putting doubts with innuendo about the quality of your products, i only claim that anybody can create a room at no cost...You only made innuendo about my system to eliminate my claim with Ad hominem argument... You never used any sound argument save your empty mantra: "audio is subjective" which is not even wrong , it is an half truth, then something worse than a lie... And dont point to my virtual page , everybody is able to see it by himself, i put the images myself there... I am not ashamed of myself at all...

no Ted, the whole point is you yoiu didn’t use your title so people weren’t aware of your commercial interests and what you were peddling. You continually lie and delete in your attempts to re-write history. Remember when the OP posted proof that threads could be removed, you knew you were busted, so you had admin remove the post. Doesn’t reflect very well on the bona fides of your Profucts Ted.

so based on the comments below, seems we can resolve a lot of this with an open promise by ted that he will use, and only use, his username ’ted_denney’ with ending subscript stating ’ted denney iii, lead designer...’ -- as he just did his most recent post below -- on all future posts heretofore... ...and he will also promise he will stay above using alternate handles? |

That is one hell of a read over on audioholics 🤣 Quite the recidivist “
“ I kinda dropped it for now since he crawled back under his rock and deleted the posts.” |

I think mr. Denney is not understood well here.. He is the greatest defender of " pure subjectivity" since Kierkegaard time... 😁😊 i am just disapointed that this defense of " free subjectivity " come not from a great philosopher only, like he seems to be, but also from a seller of electronical products.... |

It is my first time on audiogon i see someone calling a gang behind him instead of giving any argument... I will stop speaking because he dont like my silly room , it was his ONLY argument with my posts, , then i am afraid he will come with his gang to demolish it... 😊😋😁 It remind me of school bullying... very pathetic and very comical like a charlie chaplin sketch...perhaps more like the three stooges...I cannot decide...the balance between pathetic or comical will determine the esthetical choice of the movie where he will put himself in... 😊

Maybe I'm missing something here? |
