$5k or less speakers (used or new)?

I’m looking at some KEF R11 and R7’s and have listened to them (not at home)

Phase Technology PC 9.5 (in the lead)

What others would you recommend I take a look at?

im usually the type of speaker buyer that seems to prefer the non traditional over marketed audiophile speaker.

There is a KEF reference 205/2 on eBay right now for 3k. That sounds like a great deal to me! Think they were like 12k when new.
Was actually just about to start a new thread asking if anyone has compared the new reference vs the the last gen? I had the 201/2 and they were very good. Very very detailed.
Another option is Tekton. Don't worry Miller Carbon will post all about them any second! Lol

Yes, there are a lot of very marketed speakers that sound good for $5k.

Here is a rarely marketed $5k speaker you can get for $3k that will sound great... look great.... and make you smile every day!

Need to know what sound/performance characteristics you’re looking for and value most.  Also, how big is your room and what amp will you be using?
Room is: 16’ x 22’ 9’ tall

I am running two emotiva UPA-1 mono block amps pushing Phase Technology PC 3.5 speakers.

They are larger bookshelf speakers that absolutely fill that large room without a doubt.
I like a more smooth natural sounding speaker.
I’ve auditioned the Paradigm Persona line and the tweeter seems to irritate me after a bit.
I’m happy with my current speakers but I think I want something larger to play louder. 😜
LSA Statement 20s available here new for $3999 on sale and come with nice speaker cables as a bonus, and they offer a 30-day, in-home trial. Part Time Audiophile did a nice review of them where they compared favorably with the reviewer’s $25k reference speakers, and their sound characteristics seem inline with what you’re looking for. I think Salk is also an excellent recommendation. Best of luck.
Over time, I got a feeling that it is hard to pick bad speaker for $5000. It comes down to your preference and desired sound.
Check out Scansonic.  The MB3.5 B has a side firing woofer and delivers bass response below 30hz.

The ribbon tweeter provides wonderful detail and integrates with the other drivers brilliantly but is not going to forward like Paradigm.

Full disclosure, I am a Scansonic dealer but this speaker is in your price range, works with your equipment, makes sense in your room and delivers the sound profile your describe.

Take a look and PM me if you are interested.
minor embellishment of avanti1960's  rec on harbeth

three main speakers are

mon 30 - more midrange focused, light on bass

compact 7 - similar size to mon 30, more full range warmer fuller deeper bass than mon 30

super hl5 - descendant of spendor bc1 - larger box than prior 2, super tweeter, even fuller and more extension both ends than compact 7 both ends, similar signature, better for larger rooms

then there is mon 40 - which is a huge box for even larger rooms

all are utterly natural dimensional listenable speakers

Hello - we are a new start-up company that make hand-made, configurable speakers from a well known designer.  May I shamelessly suggest you look at these?  Ostinato Monitors are 3-way design with ribbon tweeters, open back mid-range and switchable cross-overs for near or far wall placement.  Selection of wood finish, connectors and optional cross-over upgrades.  $3950/pair.

Cheers - JB
The all new B&W 700 Signature S2 Series coming out soon
These speakers have Carbon Tweeters that are almost as good as the Diamond Tweeters in the 800 series   They use the same speaker drivers and crossover parts used in the 800 series too
