In the old testement when the glory of God was reveiled to Israel, then they responded with praise and worship. There was much singing aand joy heard in the land. In the new testement the Lord Jesus Christ is the Glory of God reveiled to mankind. In the book of Revelation Jesus is given all honor, power and glory with praise, worship and singing. All music has it's roots in Him.

Mine is an assigned username, and is used only because I figured I could remember it. If I had it to do over, it would be "saidentary." |
Great question! Mine is from the wonderful novel "Magister Ludi" The Glass Bead Game. ludimagis |
when I FIRST GOT A pc ABOUT SIX YEARS AGO, THEY TOLD ME TO USE SCREEN NAMES AND PASSWORDS i COULD REMEMBER... HAVING NO REAL ADVANCE WARNING I HAD TO GENERATE ONE IMMEDIATELY... WRITING IT DOWN SERVED NO PURPOSE, BUT STATING THE OBVIOUS IS A PRETTY EASY THING TO REMEMBER. I HAVE SINCE THAT TIME DEVELOPED OTHER'S BUT FOR FRIENDS & NON BUSINESS THIS ONE STUCK. |
Not very original I know but it came from an Elliot Sharp albumn which was reviewed/pictured in a recent Absolute Sound issue discussing Free Jazz guitar. I've heard this guy perform live numerous times here in nyc and his music siezes to amaze

mine comes from the obvious, but also because I tend to have a left brain and right brain conflict with choosing gear and upgrades, so I thought it was s cool double meaning. |
Mainly my Dynaco Mk IV amps. |
Dontknowmuchaboutaudioguy took too long to type. |
Got a new e-mail account about the same time I took up skydiving......seemed appropriate. Also like the internal rhyme of it. |
a combination of the sophisticated "Bo" from ancient Southern folklore and the name of a man who helped my great-grandfather farm for 60 years. |
Name of my business, I cut grass. |
Years ago a girlfriend and I visited an aquarium. In one tank were huge groupers slowly meandering. I stopped in front of it and started imitating the slow mouth pursing movements the fish were making, and the biggest one of all came right up to the glass in front of me and we spent several minutes communing like that eye to eye. My girlfriend, from a country where people are a bit more inhibited in public, was duly impressed by this "crazy American". She started calling me Grouper. Later she married me. She still calls me Grouper. The 52 came from my year of birth, and also my age when I first started using this screen name on the internet. |
Mine is a combo. My name is Eric, a frind of mine had a jazz recording called E-man Groove and he gave me that as a nickname. Then he shortened it to E Groove. Then just E.
My other hobbie is mountain biking. I ride a Santa Cruz Superlight. I liked the "Cruz" part, so I combined the two, to Ecruz. |
Mine comes from my favorite sport(sound it out). |
I used my real name since I wanted to sell stuff on here, I thought it would lend me more credibility than a silly moniker. To the rest of the internet, or at least the portion of the internet that cares about powerlifting, weightlifting, strongman, and highland games, I am better known as WildGorillaMan, and am co-admin on the infamous http://www.powerandbulk.com |
C5150
Hey add me up to the Greek list(born in Montreal). C is for my first name. 5150 for the crazy in me. a la van halen. Altough I listen to 90% classical today, versus 20 years ago......
The greek in me is not my fault . LOL |
Mime is basically my first name in Greek, only a little mispelled So that would make the original "yiorgos"? On topic, provenance of my user name is obvious:) |
Mime is basically my first name in Greek, only a little mispelled and that's because I registered once with Audiogon with my name spelled correctly, then a little while later I forgot my password, and so I had to register a second time but with a variation of my name ,as the first one would not go though. That is my story and I stick to it. My favorite kind of live performances are rock-a-billy bands (e.g., Twistin' Tarantulas, Lee Rocker, The Paladins, Frantic Flatops, Belmont Playboys, Rev. Horton Heat, etc.) Their performances are consistently: energetic, honest, wild, rough, silly, swingin', sweaty, and rockin'. Black leather, long-neck beer bottles, chains, ... oops! I think I just got a chubby. And my first name ain't Billy, but Dan. |
Cool, long running thread. My user name sounds like I stuck a number in front of my name to differentiate from others of the same name, but the "50" actually means FIVE-OH, as in Ford Mustang 5.0L. The other crazy hobby that is a blackhole for hard earned dollars. :)

The theory of entropy says that things move from order to disorder. If this is true them we must all be "entropes". |
When the arpa net started I used to be bell until Bell Labs became a host, then I was dbell, and remained so throughout my career. I need a user name that I can remember, but db and donbell are usually not available when I apply; dbphd usually is, but not in the case of Audiogon.
I would like to change my user name to db93108 (my ZIP code), and I don't understand why Audiogon doesn't permit such a change.

Mine is from my company,Null Systems |
When I was in college I was in a grunge/punk cover band. Yes we wore flannel. Yes it's embarrassing now. Anyhow, our band was called "Splotch", for some forgettable reason. I created a bunch of flyers for a gig at my fraternity using Harvard GRaphics (any geeks remember that?). I picked a bizarre font. My roomate saw the flyer and said "Who the f*** is 'Sdatch' and why is he here on Saturday night?" And the rest is history... |
With two of my Siberian Huskies that lived in the house named Ziggy and Blue and one of my young grandsons who always would be asking for ziggy/blue ziggy/blue. That's what a two year old had to say everyday, it was non stop some days. Well the company needed a seven letter word that I would not forget. Ha, easy for them to say and me having short term memory issues I chose the obvious and have been using it ever since. |
Mine's pretty self explanatory. |
It's my given greek name. No real english translation but Frank is closest. In greek Fotis means 'light' or 'bearer of light' (fos) if you will. |
I'm a huge Radiohead fan. Yet, when I play Radiohead CD's at work or during audio auditioning, I am not sure my angioplasty patients, nurses in the cath lab, or audio dealers have the same appreciation for Thom Yorke.

Thank you, Albert. I am deeply moved by your kind words above. It is truly a pleasure to finally "meet" you, as I have been quietly enjoying your wisdom, wit, and humor for at least a couple years now.
If I ever rekindle things with a lovely and loveable lady in Dallas, I would very much appreciate an invitation to one of your Tuesday night listening sessions. I think I may want to try some Wolcotts with my A1's within the next couple years.
Highest regards, |
Ernest, great story about your dad. Those kind of people seem in short supply these days. Your fortunate to have had him for a father and to honor his name and memory.
Thank you for sharing with us. |
Mine is self explanatory.

I chose mine to honor my dear old dad, Ernest Money Lay, may he rest in peace. My grandparents named him Money in hopes he might someday be rich.
He and my mom managed to raise (7) children on a poor coal miner's salary, in a home rich in the love of God and family. In 1959, we moved to Milford, OH, where we fared much better. He retired as the custodian and nightwatchman of a local dept. store. He passed away 12/92, from black lung and alzheimer's disease.
No, Dad never made a million, nor have I. However, Dad's love of family and the moral values he preached are priceless to me. Before the alzheimer's disease took full hold, he sometimes chuckled with pride and satisfaction, for he knew he had succeeded and would die a "rich man."
Also, but to a much lesser degree, my mom got me started in the hobby of coin collecting. Therefore, coin collecting plays into my username as well.
I probably know as much about the entire history of U.S. coinage as Sean knows about audio. Lately, I have been purging trivial coin history from my memory banks to make more room for Sean's audio wisdom. ;^)

In high school, a friend use to call out in the halls:
"Hey, DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Never paid it any mind.
Later in college folks started referring to me (occasionally) as DC spontaneously... independently of the high school guy.
Weirdly, one day, we bumped into each other later in college, further increasing the "DC" references.
Since "DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" was too long and "DC" was too short, it appears that DeeCee was just right as a general signature.
How's that for a too long and too boring story?
Perhaps it was just fate...
- DeeCee*
*(Not to be confused with DC CURRY the comedian, or DeeCee the jeans brand). |
Every year for 4 months in the fall/winter I band (place a band on the legs of) raptors that migrate through the Golden Gate area of San Francisco bay. |
A friend of mine threw a carton of milk at me during lunchtime back in high school, which so happened to blow up in my crotch. I threw one back and put a welt on his back, then made him run home with me so I could change my pants. We came up with the name on the way back.
The name kinda stuck. |

My first thought of a Speedball was quite different if you know what I mean... |
I used to "fetch" tools on the job for my Father about 35 years ago. My guess is I was pretty quick about it so with a smile and a chuckle he would sometimes call me (Speedball) |
