Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

arcam88,

I own "Just Testing" among others. No "Live Dates". Thanks for the recommendation.
Hey Nutty,

I haven't heard Blood, Sweat and Tears S/T in years. Saw your post and went to eBay and bought what looked like a good original first pressing for $6.00. Got it today and spun it up on the trust TT and it was awesome! Big, full sound. Love it. Thanks for the recommendation.....
Tom Petty - Box Set 1
Jo Jo Gunne - Jo Jo Gunne
Wishbone Ash - Argus
Jimi Hendrix - Smash Hits

Slaw,
I saw your post on "Tune of the day". I have several of their discs and agree with you on Scotts vocals. Powerful.

nycjlee,
Some great guitar work on Alice’s "Rain When I Die". Great band.

reubent,
I’m glad you were able to hook up on some good Blood Sweat and Tears vinyl.
I agree with you. Big, bold and lots of energy in that band. Great songs, great music.

lenmc2964,
Im not familiar with Jo Jo Gunne but a quick Wikipedia check states that two former members of Spirit help form the band. My interest is piqued! I am going to find some media and give them a listen. Thanks for the post. (Apparently "Jo Jo Gunne" is a Chuck Berry song also)

Spirit, Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus
Great albumn, and one the greatest albumn "covers".

I realize we're supposed to apolitical here but, given the current situation we've finding ourselves in....IMHO...

Dire Straits (how appropo), 'Industrial Disease'.

I don't it matters which side of the fence you're on...;)
Nutty also check out Spooky Tooth, Mason Ruffner, and Robert A. Johnson not the Robert Johnson but still had a great album Close Personal Friend.
lenmc2964,
I'm semi familiar with Spooky Tooth. But I will dig deeper. So far I really like Jo Jo Gunne's Jumpin' the Gunne.

reubent,

A little late posting this. Blood Sweat & Tears  "S/T" is one of my all time favorite lps! Some have said it may be one of the best sounding or best recorded rock lps of all time? These things are subjective as you know. Since I've always thought so highly of it, I took the plunge last year and purchased the ORG version. Wow! This is what I'm talking about! The bass that you really did not miss before is now there. If you're so inclined, you need to own this version.

Cheers!
up until this ORG/45rpm pressing, I had always read the original MFSL was THE best. While I've never heard it and it's price is way out there, I could not imagine doing better for the money than the ORG.
photodusty,

Ryan Adams has always been one I bought, no questions asked. Since his divorce, I'm wondering..... How do you rate it among his last two? I'm getting ready for a major lp purchase. Your input would be appreciated.
Moxy, S/T.
This one features session guitarist Tommy Bolin and Gil Moore who went onto to form Triumph. Here is a cut. "Moon Rider".

nutty,

I need to pull out my Triumph lps. Haven't listened in over 30 years.
slaw,
They had some great music. Three piece band with some kick. I attended one show in Cincinnati. After every few songs, because Rick Emmit performed at such a high level, he would go back stage and get oxygen. Also I'm glad you hooked up on some quality vinyl by Blood Sweat &Tears as well. They are a tuff act to follow. Enjoy fhe music!

N
nutty,

Remember Meatloaf, him getting oxygen... his act? Maybe. not an act?

Cheers!
Baby from Amarillo Texas on Lone Starr Records not the band The Babys
Eric Clapton - The Rainbow Concert
Vaughan Brothers - Family Style
Alice Cooper - Love It To Death

slaw

Its fantastic! I have all of his releases. Each one seems better than the last. I really like "ryan adams" self titled (the last one) Prisoner is above that so far. Recorded very well. Mixed and mastered better than "Self Titled". The last one seemed a bit compressed on vinyl.

If your even a slight fan I highly recommend getting Prisoner. Let Ryan take you places.

It looks like Blue Note is the distributor. Its still on Pax-Am records but its "under exclusive  licence" from Blue note.

db
also to add, its typical Ryan Adams writing. Depressing ideas and words but thoughtful and pleasant arraignments :-)

Thanks to arcam88 as well. I've got a EU copy of Wishbone Ash "Live Dates Vol.2" on it's way.
