Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

I want to encourage any and all rock and R&B fans to buy INTRODUCING DARLENE LOVE, a 2015 release on Columbia produced by Steve Van Zandt. This album (CD) is truly a labor of love and respect for one of the great ladies of pop music who was basically screwed out of her royalties and recognition. Her first solo single was released as a Crystals song without her knowledge or consent, for example. Her music was an inspiration for the overall sound of Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run album. There is original music written for her by Springsteen, Van Zandt, Elvis Costello, Jimmy Webb, Linda Perry, and - get this! - Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil. There are performances by Costello, Van Zandt, Jake Clemons, Paul Schaffer, and Bill Medley among others.

Even if you've bought all of Darlene's oldies and best of collections; the odds are that she never got a dime of your money. This one is different. It is available from Amazon in CD, Vinyl, and MP3 download. There is also a DVD/Blu-ray of the Oscar winning documentary, "20 Feet From Stardom" featuring Ms. Love and some of her peers that I Think I must get.
Freddie Hubbard - Live at the Warsaw Jazz Jamboree, 1991

Love the rendition of All Blues.
Nothing nothing on today...traveling for Xmas. But just picked up a bunch of new vinyl at the Electric Fetus in Minneapolis, so lots of new music to listen to when we get home.

The Hart Valley Drifters album Folk Time. Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter 1962! Before the Grateful Dead or even the Warlocks.

Adrian Belew - "Here", Received as a birthday present today. Really great record.....
Found this on Tidal:

The Complete Bill Evans On Verve

18 CDs, 21 Hours.

Looks like my January listening plans are all set.

Wonderful stuff.
dbtom2-

that Bill Evans set is nothing less than outstanding! You will enjoy it!

Happy Listening!
Tonights turntable featured three albums:

1. Scorpions, "Love at First Sting"
2. Dire Straights, "Love Over Gold"
3. AFI, "Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes"
Rory Gallagher "Against the Grain". This is a good one, Nutty. Strong songs and good sonics on the CD version I picked up used. "Buddah Records original masters" if you are interested.
Takeshi Nishimoto - "Lavandula".  Listening to this frequently since finding it a month or so ago.
ghosthouse,

You are correct! Against the Grain is fantastic. I've heard it before but it has been a while. I really like the keyboards on this one. Have you heard Defender? Check it out if you have not. It's good, though maybe not a good as some of his other work. I really like "I ain't no Saint".

Next- earlier in the thread Arcamm88 recommended Michael Sweet "One Sided War". I Highly recommend it as well. Listened to it twice yesterday.  Solid thru and thru. Check out "Radio". Great recording. Great guitarist! Great vocalist.

Next from 1992, I listened to Lynch Mob S/T. Solid disc, great recording. (Though I belive its only available on mp3 now) George Lynch fresh from Dokken. I was fortunate to attend a show at Bogarts in Cincinnati. I like this disc better than "Wicked Sensation", which is great also. Any Lynch fans in the crowd?

Hey Nutty - Glad you picked up on the keyboards. I was going to mention them but did not. It’s Lou Martin, formerly of Killing Floor.
I enjoy his playing a lot. He can burn up that electric piano. There’re a few clips of him in a great Rory Gallagher concert film, "Irish Tour ’74". Worth watching if you have not seen it (although in the DVD I got, the sound isn’t all that great).

Never heard Defender. Trying to find it for a listen. See it on Amazon but not seeing it on Spotify or Tidal. Will try YouTube.

Killing Floor if you are interested...pretty raw.

ghosthouse,
I really like Killing Floor. Listened to it through the Oppo. Really stripped down, really bloozy! Love the keyboards, Martin is relentless.  The lead guitar is great, lots of energy in the band but Martin is in the zone. Thanks for the link!

Happy to read that, Nutty. Gave Killing Floor a listen myself last night. Hadn’t in a while. It was way better than I remembered - especially the lead guitar work.

You get a chance do check out that Irish Tour ’74 Film. Used to be on YouTube but no longer.

I’ll have to give Andy Timmons a listen. Don’t know that name. Ahhh...wait. Pokey 77 had mentioned him to me in the past. In fact he recommended "Resolution."  Did check him out briefly back then.  Great player but, for me, didn’t connect on an emotional level. Maybe give another listen tonight.

ghosthouse,
I found RG 1974 Irish Tour on YouTube. I will give it a spin. I did seen Rory at Rockplast on DVD a while back, thanks to arcam88!

Hey Nutty - yes...the music CD from Irish Tour '74 is still up on YouTube.  Used to be the entire film was uploaded there.  That's what I meant as ain't there any longer.   Hope you like that RG music, regardless.
