Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Thanks, I have two versions, one by Hillary Hahn (which is fantastic), and another older on vinyl by Isaac Stern.

Might have to check that out on Tidal

Sibelius' Violin Concerto. He is inching up the ladder with every listen

Love Sibelius. He is already very high on my list.  Who preformed the concerto?
Tanakh / Ardent fevers
Mid tempo rock with strings. I have a few albums from this band. All are interesting in there own way. This one is probably the most accessible and (IMO) is absolutely beautiful.

I did a comparison between Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were here on the Sony Legacy Cd with SBM (super bullshit marketing) and the stereo layer of Acoustic Sounds “Wish You Were Here” SACD. I paid $50.00 for the Sony Legacy CD from Tower Records in Boston (remember Tower Records?) and about the same price for the SACD from Acoustic Sounds. I have heard both probably a gazillion times and after very careful listening, the Sony Legacy CD really sounds much better and more natural than the SACD version. There are more dynamic swings to the music on the Sony Legacy CD as evidenced by the meters on my Mac power amp.

The bass is much deeper and more taut, and the highs seem to have a little extra sparkle. In the midrange, David Gilmour’s voice seems more relaxed where the SACD version sounds a bit ragged and even screechy at one point. I do know that I enjoyed the Sony Legacy version much more on my system. I do want to point out that SBM really stands for Super Bit Mapping and it seems to make the CD sound more realistic. So, there you go, I know everyone was dying to know.
The best of Chuck Mangione.

Cassette.
I have a lot of Mangione albums and I would NOT say this tape anywhere near accurately portrays the best of him.
Travis.  The Invisible Band.     I really like this album, you may too....
Soltero / You're no dream
Folk rock (for the most part). He crafts his songs with some interesting stuff going on in the background
Vietnam / Self Titled
Rock. I have a couple albums from this band & like them both. They know how to craft a good song around interesting lyrics
Grand Eagle .... Ed Van Fleet.

Cassette.

I have no idea how to categorize this!
New Age Electronic Tranquility Mood Music?
It's nicely recorded at least.....
Welcome cpturf!

Soul Coughing / Lust in phaze
Indie rock similar to the band "Cake"
JJ Cale - Naturally, this morning in the shower. I-pod and Tivoli
Lou Reed - Rock and Roll Animal, on the way to a construction meeting. Cassette
Steely Dan - Aja, this afternoon in the office. CD
Crusaders - Ongaku Kai, this evenings cocktail hour. Vinyl

Lucky Peterson - Tribute to Jimmy Smith on Tidal

Groovy Hammond B3 Jazz - Nicely done - excellent recording
+1 Uber

Wax Poetic / Istanbul
This band is eclectic. Mostly rock with jazz, club, & African influences
Out of Time ..... R.E.M.

Cassette.

For me this is the definitive R.E.M album and not Monster which seems to always get the popular vote.

I will have to give The Sea & The Bells a listen Boxer👍
I agree Uber

Rachel’s / The sea & the bells
This is a rock band that has heavy percussion (at times) with a lot of piano & strings. Nice stuff. Similar to the band "Silver Mt. Zion", but not as hard.
Discipline ranks up there as one of my fave KC albums, it just pushed all the right buttons for me.

I have it on DVD-A too remastered by Steve Wilson and the SQ is off the charts there.
What did you think of that Uber. I really like the Adrian period of KC but know some who don't.

The Low Anthem / The salt doll
Mellow indie rock.
Hindu Love Gods

Very interesting. Just found a sealed copy on cassette at Discogs and snatched it up.
Hindu Love Gods
Warren Zevon in a rather inebriated state backed by REM after a formal recording session. Throwing down a few standards unrehearsed and not intended for release.
REM at the time were one of THE best meat and potatoes backing outfits you could hire, and they sure prove it on this set. A whole lot of fun, and probably more so than some of their proper releases.
Tim Fite / Gone ain’t gone
Kind of country, kind if hip hop, but leaning rock wise
If colorful language offends you, don’t listen :-)
Renee Rosnes piano trio.... Remarkable and underestimated Jazz pianist on par with his husband, Bill Charlap piano trio, which is on par with Eddie Higgins piano trio....But the woman is the best of the 2 at the end, without taking off anything from his husband and Higgins.... Three extraordinary trios for me this week....
