Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

Bill Evans
On Green Dolphin Street.
Paul Chambers
Philly Joe Jones

Andreas Vollenweider-Caverna Magica Side A SQ Audiophile

Fleetwood Mac-Live Side 3

Johnny Lytle-Swingin’ At The Gate Side 2

Roberta Flack-Featuring Donny Hathaway Side 1

Liz Story-Part Of Fortune Side B SQ Audiophile

Shooting Star-Hang On For Your Life Side 2

Buena Vista Social Club-ST(repress) Side 1

Karen Brooks-Walk On Side 1

All recordings sounded very good tonight although I could only give 2 Audiophile status with Liz Story just edging in. Carverna Magica is a great (SQ) recording which might set you back $15? IMO the performance/SQ is superior to many $100+ Audiophile must haves? Shooting Star might interest Bad Company fans with a slightly updated 80’s vibe. Buena Vista Social Club is another disappointing vinyl repress(expected better SQ) might keep looking for the original CD at the thrift stores.

@spiritofradio Picked mine up at MM yesterday(!), replaced my original that was getting noisy and the jacket was decomposing. Nice score James, enjoy!

Neil Young / Are You Passionate?
2002 Reprise
Double LP, outstanding SQ

Van Morrison / Moondance
1970 Warner Bros.
More outstanding SQ, exceptional bass

@goofyfoot Nice handle! Thirty years or so ago when I tried to kill myself on my son’s skateboard he looked at me and said “Dad, you’re Goofyfoot!” 😎

The Band / Northern Lights-Southern Cross
1975 Capitol

@bslon @spiritofradio I just adore Laid Back - spinning it now, also the AAP, which imo is worth the extra $$$$

@tomic601 I hadn’t listened to it front to back since way back. After you (and I think another member) posted about it the other day I gave it some better attention and ordered it as a result.  It’s been said before: best thread.   Thanks!

yes, i find this thread and solid contributors to be an essential part of my listening day….

;-) Glad you are here James…

i love the tempo change in Queen of Hearts and the horns… i spent some significant time in Macon, i felt the groove…faint as it may have been by then…..

I just adore Laid Back

Me too, it’s hard to not like this album. I did post the release date incorrectly, it was 1973. Had it been 1975 Cher could have been involved…

Arrived today,

Nicole Atkins "Italian Ice" (recorded at Muscle Shoals)

Simone Felice "All the Bright Coins"

Too busy, way too busy lately. Finally, an evening of music…..

Tokyo String Quartet : Bartók - Die 6 Streichquartette. Deutsche Grammophon 3LP box 1981, German release

This set kicks serious butt

big_greg and Spiritofradio got me interested in pulling these out.

Ambrosia - S/T

Alan Parsons - Tales Of Mystery And Intrigue

Both are early pressings.  A bit more surface vinyl noise than I remember. But still, great music and very good sounding.  I wish that I had the Alan Parsons on MFSL.  I do have I Robot on UHQR.  Now, that one is very special.

Hey Joel,

I have the Alan Parsons "TOMAI" on MFSL. Always enjoy that one!

Rickie Lee Jones  S/T  MFSL, I got this when it first released on MFSL.  Side one has the "hits" but side two I find to be deeper into her talent.  What a great album.  MFSL did a superb job on this.  Sonics are just right.

Jennifer Warnes - The Well ( Impex Box # )

Degritter sans extra tank has arrived, unboxing tomorrow….

Agreed guys. "Last Chance Texaco" is a brilliant song. And from a brilliant album. And the one after that wasn't bad either...

Also inspired by this thread to replace my OP of Laid Back with the new AP. Supposed to be here tomorrow. Until then:

Miles Davis All Stars-Walkin 2021 ERC RE

I'm buying the AP issue of Laid Back this weekend.  I'm waiting to buy the new Beth Hart album that is supposed to release on 2/25.  That way I can combine for free freight on all😃
