The Blues… “ A Real Summit Meeting “ - MoFi  ( MFSL 2-518 )

Featuring; BB, Muddy, Big Mama Thornton, Eddie Cleanhead Vinson, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, ….etc….

So very fine, A grade sonics…

Tony Bennett-A Time For Love Side 1

Randy Travis-No Holdin’ Back Side 2

Led Zeppelin-IV(no barcode symbol label)* Side 1

Police-Ghost In The Machine Side A SQ Audiophile

Freddie Hubbard-Sweet Return Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Son Seals-Chicago Fire Side B

Jefferson Starship-Freedom At Point Zero Side A

Zoot Sims-And The Gershwin Brothers Side 2 SQ Audiophile

All vinyl had above average SQ tonight except Son Seals or Starship being the weakest(average) I don’t believe the *Zep is an early pressing maybe mid/late 70’s, acceptable SQ curious if mint OP is much better? Hubbard and Sims are both great Audiophile recordings. I give the slight edge to Freddie Hubbard since its not as forward and has a wider soundstage. Both are great jazz recordings/performances for a minimal cost.

Greg, +1 for "Sea Change" Great music that is well recorded!

Magik Markers / Surrender to the fantasy

Beach Boys - Smiley Smile

Analog Productions 180 gram Mono remaster just received from Acoustic Sounds after being on backorder for about a year.

I've been waiting a long time to replace my original 1967 Brother Mono copy.and I am not disappointed.

Dead quiet and the SQ is fantastic from the whispers on Wonderful to the thumping bass on Getting Hungry.

The Rolling Stones / It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll
1974 Rolling Stone Records

The Doors - Classics.  It's wise they didn't call this compilation a "greatest hits" collection, because a lot of those are missing, but it digs a little deeper into the catalog and all songs are good.  My copy is pristine and sounds great.  This is also a lot cheaper and more readily available than some of the other Doors compilations I have.

Catching up w/ some recent additions...

Kacey Musgraves – Star-Crossed (thanks for the gift @nicks25!)

The Delfonics – Tell Me This Is A Dream (Philly Groove Records Reissue)

Jan Garbarek Group – Wayfarer (ECM)

Bach/Stokowski – Bach • Stokowski (Capitol Mono)

Jean Sibelius - Berliner Philharmoniker · Herbert von Karajan – Finlandia · Valse Triste · Der Schwan Von Tuonela • Tapiola (DG-Germany)

Marco Fornaciari, Laura Palmieri, Robert Schumann – Sonate Für Violine Und Klavier Nr. 2 - Nr. 1 (Fonè)

Talking Heads – More Songs About Buildings And Food (Rhino Remastered by Joe Gastwirt) IF memory serves, sounds better than the partied-out OG copy that I lost or mis-filed. Always loved this album; certainly no "sophomore slump" here!

Pete Townshend - "The Iron Man" ... again!

I love Pete Townshend and I love this album. I typically listen to it straight through, as it is the soundtrack from a musical. Now, being the soundtrack from a musical, some of the tracks do not stand on their own. However, there are at least 2 tracks that I feel do stand up very well on their own. If you like Pete Townshend and/or The Who, check out these two tracks from Pete Townshend's - "The Iron Man"

"Dig"

"A Friend is a Friend"

Gilbert & Sullivan, D'Oyly Carte Opera Company - The Mikado ‎(11x Shellac, 12", Album - His Master's Voice, 1918)

So this is a hoot. These belonged to Herself's grandfather. I swapped in an Ortofon M78 on my modified 12" Jelco 750 and was pleasantly surprised by how good these sounded. First time playing 78s on 401 #2. She loved hearing them again, both as a reminder of childhood visits to grandfather's basement, and when she performed the show many years ago.

Shannon Lay – August (Sub Pop 2019)

Orange vinyl, mostly clean and silent. Very good SQ. Nice album.

Beach Boys - Endless Summer

Pushin’ 80 degrees here today - tunes for the beach!

The Music Group Of London : Vaughan Williams - On Wenlock Edge (From "A Shropshire Lad"—A.E. Housman) & Ten Blake Songs For Voice And Oboe. Odeon 1971 Netherlands release

Sealed and minty. Sweet recording.

The Dixie Double-Cats – Is It True What They Say About Dixie? (20th Fox 1959)

Great recording.

For those who enjoy classical guitar.

Excellent recording. Talented artist.

Hey Jerry, Sorry but what is "JL"?

Reubent, Just bought an Empire 2000Z off USAM. I was looking for a NOS stylus (for the one I have) & this one came up for about the same price.

Blanck Mass / In ferneaux

A song called 'Lazarus Man'. I first heard it only recently and when I did I thought "This is very cool". The cool factor went off the charts when I learned the singer was an 80-yr old Tom Jones, from his album Surrounded By Time

@sbank

More Songs...was recommended to me by one of my record store gurus when it came out so I bought it. I listened to it once, and thought it was total shite and put it my shelf for a year before playing it again. Still had problems when I listened to it a second time, especially with the yelping chihooahooa singer. Six months later played it again and the switch went 'click'. One of my favourite albums of all time

VERY COOL Jerry!!!! Jenny Lewis is much loved on this site!
