Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
This is her first album and not my favorite really (it’s a little uneven) but it features Pat Metheny and her impossibly sweet voice.  She’s written and performed other albums (two in particular) that are pretty much genius and quite unique.  Major admiration for and music crush on this woman.
Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation - Mighty Rearranger (Sanctuary) UK/EU 2005.
Dengue Fever - The Deepest Lake (Tuk Tuk), limited edition, Blue Opaque, US 2015.

Country Joe & The Fish "Electric Music for the Mind & Body"
Craft Recordings
James - thank you, I have a RSD copy on the way to me :-) I don’t need two , but your generosity is amazing !!!!!!
Ravi Shankar - Ravi Shankar In San Francisco. World Pacific Records 1967. Recorded live at the San Francisco Civic Auditorium.
Shakti - Shakti With John McLaughlin. Columbia 1976, live at South Hampton College.
Puttin' on...Feist "Metals"
2011/Polydor

I bought this when it was released. I believe I put it on my "best of", that year.
"Metals"......

My copy isn't compressed as Tim related.

My copy doesn't get woofers pumping as Jim related
leo Kotke S/T   Nice way to warm up the system.

Tears For Fears  'The Seeds Of Love'  Recently got this very well done reissue.  Had to play it again.  Very entertaining, great music.  Very 80s sounding type of recording SQ, but quite enjoyable.

Roger Waters  'Amused To Death'  Musically, this is a very good album, but probably not up to par with some of Waters greatest attributes.  However, the recording method by using Q-Sound technology is rather astonishing.  While not an album for listening to tonal accuracy of string instruments or human vocal accuracy, this one certainly brings the level of entertainment to an extraordinary level.  It's quite amazing and very enjoyable.  And AP/QRP puts out an exceptional quality piece of vinyl.
Tea for the Tillerman

hard to keep up with Steve, so i fired up the system early….
I like it when you post music more Jim.

My catch last week...two croaker)7"
Fountains of Wayne "Welcome Interstate Managers"

First Time on vinyl. Great power pop!!!
James
streaming Silje now
agree, varied but really enjoying Move Along Ruby

that song a bit reminiscent of RLJ - Pirates
i don’t have a pressing of Metals, my rip of the CD has some slam and impact in the bass - maybe it’s missing on the vinyl master ? Lots of energy below 60….wish Agon was more modern..like we could post pictures…ha

Croaker makes good trophy Redfish bait…….good on ya, priceless memories w grandkids i hope….
+1 to Roger Waters Amused To Death. One of my favorites among many favorites.
The Youngbloods - Ride The Wind 1971 pressing on WB/Raccoon. How can you go wrong with a guitarist that goes by the name Banana.

I use live bait that are about the size of croaker... But really, if those were caught with the grandkids then they are "trophies" in their own rite.  Very nice!

Steve, 'The Seeds Of Love" reissue is exceptionally quiet vinyl.  As I said, it has the 80s recording SQ (a bit tilted up on the upper mids and highs) but far from obnoxious.  Bass lines are superb (especially with the two MyMats and now my corner bass traps).  The overall production from the studio mix has great depth of staging and imaging.  It's a really good album, both musically and production wise.  Highly recommended.
Oscar Peterson Trio - We Get Requests. Verve reissue 2019, originally 1964
AQ Fire RCA vs. AQ Niagara XLR, not exactly a one variable experiment….but never the less, educational……

Using Dan - Everything Must Go ( Server )
McCoy Tyner - Time For Tyner. Blue Note remaster/resissue 1986, originally 1969
Just got my Marantz 1152dc and Pro-ject turntable tuned up and now laying down some Blue Note: Johnny Griffen/John Coltrane/Hank Mobley - Blowin Session, Bill Black Combo - Rock N Roll Forever, and then an Australian Prog ’N Roll band called Southern Empire - Civilisation and then Yes - Fly From Here/Return Trip.

It’s a very Trippy Sunday evening for me.
Another trip to the shed for more goodies from the past.

Robert Fripp “Exposure” Polydor 1979

Minutemen “What Makes A Man Start Fires?” SST 1982

Lyres “On Fire” New Rose (France) 1984

(just noticed this is post #100 for me, woo-hoo!!)

@tomic601 There was a RSD copy left yesterday so I bought it half with you in mind in case you didn’t make it to a store - You’d been on such a Danstand lately. The other half had designs on keeping it if you didn’t need it, don’t you already have a copy Steve @slaw
Incidentally, I’m getting almost completely fed up enough with record scalping not to buy into it any longer. Almost…

I know there are those folks who buy two copies of limited releases: one to play and one for “investment”.  This may be within the bounds of legality but I believe it’s wrong.  Shameful in fact.  Because it is not about the music.
@tomic601 Re: Silje, I agree about the RLJ musical associations.  Silje has a lot less funk & grit though.   if you find yourself interested, try the album “A Thousand True Stories” maybe begin with the track “Based on a Thousand True Stories” I find it conveys dream state emotions so sad wrapped in such sweet sound - emotional wolf in sheep’s clothing - can be very effective.   The other records of hers you might try are the jazz/pop “At First Light” and “Nightwatch”.  It’s not traditional Urban Jazz but to me her music is legit in it’s emotional appeal. YMMV of course.
