For me its the first or very early LP's of: Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South" Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer" and, Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
Can’t believe this, but have been contemplating either a Soundsmith Zephyr MIMC Star ES, or a Hana ML MC cart to get a low output cart into my ‘fold’. Decided on an open box demo MIMC from HIFIHeaven for $1,275, regularly $1,999. Talked to them about it yesterday and ordered it.
Had ordered something else from them, got a shipping notification, but called to clarify when the MIMC would ship out. Seems, after checking their stock, didn’t actually have an open box left, even though it was on their site, so are awaiting a new shipment from Soundsmith next week. And, will honor the demo price for a brand new one, and ship it out when they get it in.
Those guys are screwy, but I must say, they stand by what was ordered, and willing to make things right. Not a bad deal 😉 I’ll be patient for a $700 savings.
I know you do 👍🏼 You know what’s really crazy? They (HIFIHeaven) did the same thing when I bought my Zephyr MKIII high output cart, and got that brand new for a demo price. So, for both the MKIII and MIMC I’ll have spent $2,275. List price $3,499 new. Crazy.
You know what i think is going on . I think some resellers do not mind making less money on that high priced stuff, but the manufacturers (Soundsmith in this case), usually set a minimum price that the reseller is allowed to sell at for a New product,. Otherwise some of the resellers would be happy to sell for less profit and it would turn into them cutting each others throat , so to speak They (manufacturers) also do this to keep the value up on their products.
So in order to sell at less of a profit , they(reseller) just say that it is a "Demo". to skirt around the Rules. 😁 Great for the customer or end user or US peoples !
Van Der Graaf Generator - Godbluff (Charisma), UK 1975. Popol Vuh - Einsjager & Siebenjager (Spalax Music), France 1997, reissue. Original one was only quadrophonic/stereo.
With Hubert Laws, Billy Cobham, Ron Carter, and some orchestration.
Haven’t listen to this for a long time. Some real 70’s fusion jazz stuff. But, McCoy, like Ahmad Jamal at times, can actually pull it off. Does not sound too bad actually.
It's a warm Spring day here so I'm playing all of the The Who, "Live At Leeds" album. This is the 3-disc set, half-speed mastered at Abbey Road Studios in 2016. Very well done and it's the entire concert, not just the selected songs that were originally issued on the album in 1970. I saw this concert tour in the Summer of 1970 when The Who did their North American tour immediately following the release of the album. What memories (I was 16 at the time but I do have a very good memory).
Man Joel, wish I could say the same for Cleveland. 55, very windy, and has been rainy the last couple days. Thus, I don’t feel so bad hanging inside all day, listening to LP’s, and watching things get blown all over the place outside. Actually had to turn the heat back on yesterday. Yikes….hello June.
I forgot to mention, Brian, enjoy that new phono cartridge. There is another world of music finesse with such a cartridge. Just be sure that you set it up properly, to exact specifications, with a quality alignment tool.
Thanks Joel, but not sure when I might actually get it.
Chatted with a builder at Soundsmith today, and he told me he hasn’t built those carts yet, and they are way behind fulfilling dealer orders. So not sure why HiFiHeaven told me they are getting a shipment from Soundsmith next week.
But, as it is such a good deal, I may end up just being patient. Heck, there isn’t anything wrong with my Zephyr right now. I am just incredibly curious how a low output cart will work with the Hagerman vs my Zephyr. Plus, it does have many attributes of the highest costing Soundsmith low output carts….and a sapphire cantilever to boot.
