Greg i think your MoFi collection is a good start on Hedge Fund status....
i have changed my Nitty Gritty routine to always use the enzyme with 3 minutes run, then the Brooks Berdan solution, then dry. quieter....

Vibrato or degritter in next fiscal year budget...
Marty Robbins ‎– Just A Little Sentimental
(Columbia 1961 mono)

What a voice. And the SQ is so... musical. Magic.

@noromance big change on tube power supply, thoughts
@tomic601 I added a note and a few pics on my system but suffice to say I'm listening to records all over again.
Isaac Stern ‎– None But The Lonely Heart-Plays Great Violin Favorites (Columbia Masterworks 1963)
Jim, after watching this video about the guy with the largest record collection in the world, which at the time was valued at 50 million dollars, not being able to sell it, I'm not so sure I should bank my retirement on the MOFIs!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SwXayHbUQ2o&feature=share

Follow up to my previous post, apparently that guy did eventually sell his records to the person who now has the largest record collection in the world.
David Whitfield ‎– Alone (London 1961)

Fine English tenor. Passed at 54 from a brain hemorrhage.
@big_Greg, I just had that same video come across my YouTube feed the other day too. Valued at 50 M in 2013, sold it for 2, worth what today, probably, 200 million?

Guy says “The Music is 100 times better on a vinyl album”.  He was right.

@spiritofradio  - Paavo Jarvi you say? Another good ol' Cincinnati boy. Well for 10 years he was anyway.
@reubent

Hooters - "Nervous Night"

How did you know at the very moment you made that post I was composing one of my own about Khatia?

Elton John - Honky Chateau. Giving the Technics sl 1200 Mk 2 a workout tonight. This is sounding really wonderful, great production, nice imaging and soundstage, and most importantly great performances.

Richard Burgin conducts – Music For Organ And Brass: Canzonas Of Gabrieli And Frescobaldi. E. Power Biggs, organ and the New England Brass Ensemble. Columbia Masterworks ‘6 eye’, date unknown, but assume it could be right around the time of the recording.

Mono

A Recording Premiere of the first true concert organ in America, built by D. A. Flentrop in 1958 for the Busch-Reisinger Museum at Harvard University.

Love this organ music. Especially with the horns.
Brian..amazing how even a small change can lead to a new romance with listening...

i will check out the system pages.... ;-)

I am listening to Eric Clapton MTV Unplugged from 2011.  I have my preorder in for the MoFi UD1S and can't imagine how it can sound better than this original copy.  This has been one of my favorite albums of all time and I can't wait to hear what they were able to create for us.
Really enjoying
Cal Tjader ‎– Huracán
Crystal Clear Records - Direct to Disk
1978
@spiritofradio

I have no idea what you're talking about. I watched the video and she did not look "nervous"... :~)
They are very odd in their marketing of the UD1S releases.  I learned last year to proactively call music direct and ask.  Currently here is what I recall is available:
Carole King
Blood Sweat & Tears(already sold out)
Janis Joplin
Crosby Still & Nash
Paul Simon
Eric Clapton
Muddy Waters
SRV(already sold out)
Elvis

@dhite71, @big_greg, Found out Music Direct puts otherwise not advertised (not yet on the websites) albums you can pre-order on the back of their print catalog (rhymes with analogue).
@spiritofradio,

Just watched the Fruit Bats perform "The Balcony". Will be ordering Pet Parade.
Thank you for the good word on preorders of UD1S via calling Music Direct.  I am hoping the Crosby Stills & Nash is the first album, S/T, on the couch on the front porch.  The original pressing all sound terrible, like a blanket over your speakers.  My copy was trashed years ago and I can not find a respectable sounding copy anywhere.  On UD1S I imagine they sourced the original tapes and mastered it perfectly and then produced on the UD1S entire process.  I want to buy this album!
Vladimir Ashkenazy conducts Strauss - Ein Heldenleben. The Cleveland Orchestra. London 1985.

Holy smokes @spiritofradio . You going to buy it? 😁
@mammothguy54 Your hopes are a reality!  Give them a call and get it pre-ordered.

I learned a couple of interesting things.  They do the pressings at the beginning of the year and then release them "throughout the year".  In other words, who knows when they will ship.  I also asked if serial numbers correspond to order dates, and they said "roughly", so if you want a low number, order early and often.

This thread just cost me another chunk of money.  Thanks guys!

Zukerman plays and conducts Vivaldi - Four Concertos (5-8). The English Chamber Orchestra. Columbia Masterworks 1974.
Szell conducts Wagner - Prelude And Love-Death From "Tristan Und Isolde”, Die Meistersinger Von Nurnberg: Prelude, & Tannhäuser: Overture. The Cleveland Orchestra. Epic 1962.

Great recording, wish the vinyl was ‘cleaner’.
Szell conducts Mozart - Piano Concertos 15 & 17. ‘Members of the Cleveland Orchestra’ with Robert Casadesus, piano. Columbia Masterworks 1969.
this whole thread is a bank account draining rabbit hole, almost as bad as fishing....almost... Wine is worse...

JJ Cale - Rewind

buddy of mine just bought a vintage Denon, Empire 750 and an NAD phono pre, three dead rabbits...... stew shall be seved on a very slippery slope, ......... shortly
@big_greg   Thank you for the clarification.  I will place my order ASAP.
Finally, an audiophile grade copy of that album (whenever it will ship).

And yes, this thread is definitely a bank account draining rabbit hole.  I have participated in that situation very effectively.

As well is fishing, I agree with tomic601 a million percent.  Due to COVID I didn't go out on open party boats this past summer.  I used that budget toward new hi-fi gear.  Different rabbit hole, same issue.😂
Going to continue with my Szell/Cleveland selections this evening. Next up:

Szell conducts Schumann - The Four Schumann Symphonies. The Cleveland Orchestra. Columbia/Odyssey 3LP box, 1971

In other news, Jim Hagerman emailed me notifying that the Hagerman Trumpet is being shipped today...oh, the wait...trying to be patient
@bkeske That’s exciting for you Brian. It took me a long time to learn how important a phono stage is. Sounds like you’re getting a good one.

Anton Bruckner
Symphonie No. 5
Solti-Edition Vol.9

this finally arrived today from Berlin after a 3+ month wait. Wow does it sound good though. Pristine vinyl and a spectacular recording. Wonderfully dynamic, clear and bright. I’m sitting on the stage in front of the Violas.
Maazel conducts Tchaikovsky #4. The Cleveland Orchestra. Telarc 1979

Thanks James, just got notified it will be here next Tuesday. 11 day turn around from ordering. Not too bad, especially coming from Honolulu. Yes, the phono stage was my last piece to the phono rig. The Mani with LPS has done its job nicely, but I have a feeling it will be, (as it was when I put together the SOTA/Jelco/Soundsmith), like playing my albums for the first time. Again.
Back in ‘77, I home-auditioned a small pair of KLH speakers. They had a promo where they sent you home also with a Sheffield Lab record (SL13/KLH)

It was Amanda McBroom vocals with Lincoln Mayorga, Doug Sax and that crew

Stunning all around.
@spiritofradio

Solti-Edition Vol.9

Fantastic. I have Volumes 6 & 10, and have my eyes peeled constantly for 8 & 9.
Robert Lockwood Jr. "I Got to Find Me a Woman."  Old school blues master, and BB King's uncle who purportedly gave BB his first guitar.
Václav Neumann conducts Martinů Symphony #1. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Supraphon 1978 Czechoslovakia
