Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Ah so, I understand....Rogue provides excellent sonics and value, I have heard the Apollo - Dark and they are a fantastic amp. Enjoy
No problem at all Greg. If you get a chance, check out this mini review of my cable:

He is also not a cable guy but had some positive comments & measurements on the Noteworthy Acoustics interconnect cable.

I am really liking this box set from Holger Czukay! Price was high, but glad I bought it.

Steve,
I was fortunate enough to see the J. Geils Band live while promoting "Love Stinks". Great concert!

Tim, I like that the review actually included some measurements and not a lot of flowery language.
the guitar reverb reeks of carmelized chocolate, echoes of flowery text to the drunken lyrics with a hint of jasmine in the hi hat...
LOL tomic!

Greg,
Yes, he is an EE by trade. Nice guy too. If you change your mind about trying them, let me know. No pressure (really)

Guys,
This Holger Czukay box set is excellent!

Dire Straits - Making Movies ( MoFi 45 rpm #2514, it looks like 2513 was the lucky white hot stamper.... oh well, maybe next time ??????! )
@tomic601 yep, yer right, that one’s ok but not all that much better than the OP. Not like the others which are high gain over the originals. I don’t have it but I heard that the Back on Black Making Movies is good to get.
a pop up ad

West Side Story, Oscar Peterson Trio + Toots, 45 rpm

"...these are all truly classic Verve titles that you simply don't want to miss...most importantly, the sound of these reissues is nothing short of astounding. Particularly the early Billie and Ella mono records are incredible treasures of sonic beauty. I'd definitely ask Santa for the whole set, or, if you want to cherry pick, the most classic titles. Whatever you decide, you owe yourself at least a half dozen!" Winner of a 2012 Positive Feedback Online Writers' Choice Award - Danny Kaey, Positive Feedback Online, November/December 2011

One of the first Broadway musical scores to be overtly jazz-influenced was Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, a tale of rival street gangs in the inner city. In 1962, pianist Oscar Peterson put his light-swing signature on the already popular score, making it, in the words of one critic, "a delight to hear again" and earning him a Grammy nomination.

Originally released in 1962

Oscar Peterson, piano
Ray Brown, bass
Toots Thielemans, harmonica
Ed Thigpen, piano, drums

@spiritofradio Thanks James!  I bought them from Echo a couple of weeks ago and have been enjoying them as much as time allows.
@big_greg, Seems like you could pair about any speakers with those.  Something I occasionally think about here in my low wattage high sensitivity bubble of splendidness.   I did see those on the EA site.  An excellent deal.  Very nice.

@spiritofradio we saw Massive Attack's 20th anniversary of Mezzanine tour a couple years back...one of the best shows I've seen in the last several years!
The Floyd, Tull, Rush, and other influences are apparent but they wear them well. Great sound production on this record although/even though it is in in no way a live sounding production nor does it have an “in the room” quality that is sometimes important to close listeners. But it’s still very cool sound.
@elliotbnewcombjr  I have an original copy of the 1962 release of West Side Story, the original soundtrack recording on Columbia Masterworks.  The vinyl is VG+ (or better) and the jacket is VG++.  It was played numerous times on my parents Magnavox console so I am hoping that there isn't too much groove damage.  I am waiting to acquire an ultra sonic cleaner and will do a deep clean on this album.  Then, I hope to enjoy a real classic with (hopefully) little in the way of noise.  Awesome gatefold jacket with a bunch of great pictures of movie scene shots on the inside and a full size picture on the back of Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer.  A true classic from my childhood.
@spiritofradio we saw the San Diego show...started almost 2 hours late with no opener and then absolutely tore the roof off start to finish. Vocals were a mix a Robert Del Naja, Liz Fraser, Horace Andy and Daddy G. Adam Curtis did all the videography...absolutely insane production! Not sure if you could tell, but we enjoyed the show :)
@slaw The mymat bits showed up today, cut to fit and placed under the Magic Bricks !!!!!! Thanks for thinking of me ;-)

Jim
It’s obviously not on my turntable tonight, but today I received notice from Elusive Disc of the upcoming April release of Lucinda Williams’ double LP tribute to Tom Petty. Oughta be great! By the way, ED doesn’t charge sales tax, and ships for free and gives a 10% discount on orders of $99 (or greater, of course).
@spiritofradio Right now I have my recently acquired Klipsch Quartets playing. I put in Crites titanium tweeters and put some Dynamat on the horns. These are fun speakers, the best Klipsch I've owned so far. No records tonight, streaming...
streaming Eva - Acoustic.....enjoying the pared down takes...she was a wonder
Earlier:

Led Zeppelin- In Through the Out Door

Now:

The Police- Regatta de Blanc
@spiritofradio...spinning some awesome stuff tonight! I’d love to catch Massive Attack live... one of my favorite all time concerts was Radiohead touring King of Limbs. Unbelievable show. Got lucky and bought tickets day of...
