Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

@slaw

Yes, another missed opportunity not buying All the Roadrunning when it was initially released on vinyl. I check every now and then and haven’t seen used copies for less than $400. Such a shame.

@tgilb

The studio  "All The Roadrunning" is on vinyl and sounds great from memory.

Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris - Real Live Roadrunning

Streaming but sure wish it was available on vinyl.

One of my favorite albums. Their version of Why Worry is a killer. Emmylou sounds like an angel.

@slaw

Streaming now. Had never heard of him but he actually played with Dire Straits on a few of their albums. I like him.

Thanks for the tip Steve.  I will check him out.  Hope all is going well for you.

Dire Straits - Making Movies

1980 WB Records

Great SQ but then again isn't that the case with all Dire Straits albums.

Nick,.

RE: Mark Knopfler,

I've been streaming John Illsley recently. His sound is very similar. I have some vinyl ordered. Worth checking out. Started out with his latest, "VIII".

Black Country, New Road
Ants From Up There
2022 Ninja Tune

Post Punk Bohemian Art Rock

I should also mention that this is an Audiophile quality record.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - Georgia Blue

Miles Davis Sextet - Someday My Prince

M. Ward – Transistor Radio

Talking Heads – More Songs About Buildings And Food

Dave Mason - S/T

@dayglow No offense intended. I enjoy many other albums including  3/4, and don't doubt their talent, but that flute style just doesn't do it for me. Cheers

@sbank  -4 The LA 4 were a great jazz ensemble no stink here. I place zero value on "mainstream"  parody when regarding serious music!

A great compilation series, especially for jazz beginners looking to spread their wings a bit...Milestone Twofers...highlights of Riverside/Prestige/Milestone releases

Everyone talks about his other Live LP but this in-studio live recording is also fantastic.

@corelli One of the greatest artists, piano compositions and venue. Ormandy & NY Phil. not too shabby either! Easily worth ~$5 for anybody stumbling upon a copy.

LA4 – Live At Montreux  This might be the jazz flute album that inspired Ron Burgundy's parody. Good recording of some stinky cheese.

Herbie Hancock – The Prisoner ( Blue Note 75th Anniversary)

Vladimir Horowitz performs Rach 3. Recorded live at Carnegies Hall.  RCA Red Seal  1978

Bought this used several years back.  Looks like it was never played---until now.

Kinks / Lola versus Powerman and The Moneygoround Part One
1970 Warner Bros.

@jpan

Gillian Welch, Boots No. 2: The Lost Songs

Cassandra Wilson, New Moon Daughter

Steely Dan, Katy Lied

Roy Hargrove and Mulgrew Miller, In Harmony

Great set.  Welcome.

Iron Maiden / Number of the Beast

What can I say, it's been a metal Friday!

ELP / works Vol 1

Interesting album, not very proggy so far.  I can say pretty confidently that Greg Lake knew what good sound was.

Helen Humes – Sneakin' Around (Classic Jazz 1978)

Lucy Ward – I Dreamt I Was A Bird... (Betty Beetroot 2015)

Pete Townshend - "Face the Face"

12" 45 RPM Single - Live, from the Deep End

Gene Clark, Chris Hillman, David Crosby, Roger McGuinn, Michael Clarke – Byrds (Asylum 1973)

Sinéad O'Connor – The Lion And The Cobra (Ensign 1987)

Sinéad O'Connor – I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got (Ensign 1990)

Pete Townshend - "White City: A Novel"

I love this album. No idea if it is/was popular. I bought it back when it was release in 1985 and it's been in semi-regular rotation ever since. Was fortunate to also find a copy of the 12" 45 RPM Single of "Face the Face - Live From the Deep End". I also have a VHS copy of the short move by the same name. The Live version of "Face the Face" is from the movie.

BTW, the movie is available in two parts on YouTube if anyone is interested...

Roseanne Cash-Seven Year Ache Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Orleans just edges out Phil Woods for the SQ crown. If Roseanne's vocals were a little more laidback the SQ crown was hers. Ms. Baez takes the weakest link SQ crown. I think this was her first recording for A&M?  The 4 other recordings just missed Audiophile Status.

Pretty darn nice

@reubent  +1 and well spoken.

John Mayall - Blues From Laurel Canyon   Probably my favorite Mayall album, musically.  Too bad the production quality is not that great.  And mine is a UK pressing.

Fleetwood Mac - Kiln House  Reissue from "A Fleetwood Mac Production".  They did a nice job on this reissue.  The music brings back memories from high school.

Eric Clapton - Unplugged   A fantastic album and a rather good "live" recording.  I got the CD when it first came out but had no idea it was also released on vinyl.  Because of this thread I learned that, and bought it.  Much better sounding than the CD.  May "What's On Your Turntable Tonight" live on...
