Jean Sibelius - Berliner Philharmoniker, Christian Ferras, Herbert von Karajan – Violinkonzert · Finlandia (Deutsche Grammophon 1974)

Daniel Martin Moore – Turned Over To Dreams (Sofaburn 2017)

Delicate and sublime. Only for good souls. Recommended.

Steve, this group, our local music club, and streaming all broaden my horizons!

Roy Hargrove and Mulgrew Miller, In Harmony that you posted about the other day.   It’s a treasure isn’t it.  Still a few sealed copies around the stores I’ve noticed so other members can benefit.

@spiritofradio 100% I liked it so much bought a copy for a friend's bday gift, as it's not well known amongst those with smaller jazz libraries.

Mary Chapin Carpenter / The Dirt And The Stars
2020 Lambent Light Records

It was a long wait but it finally arrived.

ELO Eldorado on MoFi Super Vinyl.

Sounds absolutely fantastic.

Cowboy Junkies / The Trinity Session (RE 2017 / RCA)

The Sadies / Favourite Colours (2004 / Yep Roc)

(cd) Bert Jansch / L.A. Turnaround (1974 produced by Mike Nesmith(?) I will hunt down a decent original lp

John Cafferty And The Beaver Brown Band-Tough All Over Side 1

Mendelssohn-Symphony No.4 Side 1(DG 2530 416) Side 1

Rosemary Clooney-Rosie Sings Bing(CJ-60 Barcode) Side 2

Renaissance-Live At Carnegie Hall Side 2/B

Carpenters-Passage Side 2 SQ Audiophile

The Who-Who Are You Side 2

Pete Townshend-White City Side 1

The LA 4-ST(CJ-18) Side 1 SQ Audiophile

Everything sounded very good tonight with several near Audiophile misses. Unfortunatley the great "Who Are You" had the weakest SQ. Both Annie and Karen were angelic with great songs. Yes, the LA 4 provided a breathtaking flute solo!

@slaw probably still three weeks out. He’s very busy!

I’m casually shopping for a cart for the new arm. Jeff said the Nag would be fine, but suggested a few if I wanted to try something different.

How long to the AudioMods arm arrives @j_husker

Lucinda Williams "Down Where The Spirit Meets the Bone"

streaming, but the vinyl feeds the soul.....

Faces-A Nod Is As Good As A Wink... To A Blind Horse-1971 WB

Audience-The House On The Hill 1971 Electra

Happy Friday everyone!

Just arrived today. Looking forward to this box set. After my recent Maazel Sibelius symphony box set, this should make a nice addition.

Paavo Berglund conducts Sibelius - ‘ Music Of Sibelius’. Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. EMI/His Masters Voice 4LP box set 1982. UK release

Sparklehorse "Dark Night of the Soul"

currently streaming but own the vinyl...........

Sounds fun Greg. My streaming experiment has gotten bigger than I envisioned. Really enjoyable though.

Had friends over last night for pizza and our monthly music club meeting.  Spun some vinyl and also streamed a few tunes.  Fun times!  This morning listening to Bob Dylan/The Band - Before the Flood.

Tonight I listened to a classical masterpiece, "Edmond de Luca’s Conquerors of the ages" London Philharmonic; Linz Reinhard, conductor; Circa 1959. My favorite go to listening Lp. not only in terms of listening enjoyment but when it comes too high and low end sound tracks, some of the highest...and lowest sound passages I have ever heard on a recording. Since 20-20K Hz is for all terms considered to be the audible end posts for us humans, there are on particular tracks that I estimate come in at 30-18K Hz. The original album comes with a playbill that explains the composers intention tor each recording. A truly brilliant piece of work.

Emitt Rhodes  -  Mirror   Since we have been talking about Emitt I thought to pull this one from my collection.  I bought this as a Senior in high school.  Still in excellent condition.

Gregg Allman  -  Laid Back   Analogue Productions reissue.  Big difference in SQ after playing Emitt.

Joan Armatrading  -  S/T   I just love Joan...

Recent arrivals,

Chris Rea "Auberge" 1991/Magnet Records/Germany/pp

Chris Rea "Wired to the Moon" 1984/Magnet Records/UK?/pp

John Illsley "Coming Up For Air" 2019/Creek/EU

@jpan was meaning to post that I have the Roy Hargrove and Mulgrew Miller, In Harmony that you posted about the other day.   It’s a treasure isn’t it.  Still a few sealed copies around the stores I’ve noticed so other members can benefit.

Emitt Rhodes / Mirror
1971 Dunhill

Like his self titled album (and later Farewell To Paradise) all instruments, vocals, songs and arrangements are by Emitt Rhodes.

Ottorino Respighi - Church Windows - Keith Clark - Pacific Symphony Orchestra - Reference Recordings

Dan Fogelberg / Souvenirs
1974 CBS

Produced by Joe Walsh who played on 10 tracks. Harmony and background vocals by other familiar names.

@mammothguy54: I also recorded with Emitt, in his studio in Hawthorne. He still has the Gibson ES335 pictured on the back cover of the album and the pump organ he’s sitting at on the inside of the gatefold!

He had me record the song he was producing three times in a row, playing to a click track. He recorded each take on a separate Alesis 8-track, then made a master mix on a fourth Alesis from the three takes, punching between them for different sections. Only time I’ve been recorded that way. Being that he was recording on Alesis digital recorders, the resulting sq was not of audiophile caliber. The drums sounded good (60’s Ludwigs, with a contemporary Ludwig chrome-over-brass snare drum), but my Paiste 602 cymbals---which sound great---had that "splashy" digital sound.

Hey, another Manfred Mann album well worth looking for is Chapter Three on Vertigo Records. By the time of this album drummer Mike Hugg had moved to piano, and the group had evolved into a mildly-fusionistic Jazz/Rock style combo. Great recorded sound quality, something the Vertigo's are known for.

Second spin for this. The first I only had headphones, so really want to see how it sounds on the full rig….

Richard Thompson - Electric. New West 2LP gatefold 2013

+1  @mammothguy54  "Watch" is my favorite Manfred Mann recording. "California" is perfection!!!

Today I listened to...

Manfred Mann  -  Watch   This album has a better SQ than my copy of Roaring Silence.  Both are excellent music.

Frank Zappa  -  Over-Nite Sensation   I bought this new in 1973 and it is still in perfect condition.  Great music and a great recording.  Love it!

Ben Webster meets Oscar Petersson   Analogue Productions 45rpm reissue Verve Records.  It's really amazing the sonics they accomplished in the recording studio, way back in the early 60s.

I too have the Emitt Rhodes album, having purchased it when it first released.  I don't know anyone who even heard of him other than from this group of music lovers.  Very cool that bdp24 played with Emitt, live on stage.  Good for you!

Manfred Mann  -  The Roaring Silence   I sure wish it was done in audiophile SQ.  But still, very good, nonetheless.

Procol Harum  -  Broken Barricades   I just love this album.

@bdp24 I agree on your perfect album comment, there isn’t a bad song on it. I also agree with your comparison of him to McCartney, especially regarding this recording. Very cool you performed with him, what an experience!
Playing his record after Leonard Cohen’s was like a breath of fresh air!
