Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

bslon, reubent et. al.--really great obscure picks (hitmen. wire train)--nice to meet some fellow travelers. in the same vein:

the johnsons--break tomorrows day

the neats--blues end blue

crippled pilgrims--under water

Yes its a `remastered` 180 gram disc and Sony so you would think that correctly centering it could be possible!.

@lastperfectdaymusic Bummer about the reissue, there shouldn’t be problems with off centers, warps or surface noise on those but we know it happens. Maybe too often? Good you can play it.

Just recieved Anathema - Judgement and Joe Satriani - Shockwave. The Anathema is a reissue by Sony. It was a bit decentered which is not a problem with my Roksan Xerses, I just remove the spindle cap and shift the record on the platter.

@dayglow I only have Come Away With Me on CD. I too am wary of some new vinyl’s recording chain. This one was likely converted from digital but it sounds very pleasant. It’s a little more ‘jazzed up’ and with more instrumentation than CAWM. I prefer it.

The Little Willies / For The Good Times
2012 Milking Bull
Norah Jones’ Country band. Jim Campilongo on guitar, fun record.

@bslon +1 My favorite is "Not Too Late" 2007 I kind of lost interest after that release why? I’m very skeptical regarding new vinyl do you have a CD version to compare? How does this rate vs. her first 3 recordings?

@waltersalas  - Unfortunately, just missed a chance to see James McMurtry here in Cincinnati last week at a great small venue. Might try to catch him later in Columbus, or Louisville.

I'll check out his newest on Spotify and buy the vinyl if I like it.

BTW, I used to really like Lucinda William too, but haven't loved her recent releases. Same with Steve Earle. Two great songwriters when at their best. But, for me, there best was years ago...

@reubent @spiritofradio

I am indeed a huge fan of McMurtry, who I think is as good as any songwriter currently out there.

I agree his live albums are excellent, this one and Live in Europe from 2009. His studio albums are also great. You can find his new one, "The Horses and the Hounds," as well as "Childish Things" pretty easily on vinyl, both good pressings to my ears. Others are a little harder to find or pricier, and I do not believe the "Best of the Sugar Hill Years" has ever been released on vinyl, although I play it as much as any McMurtry I own and hope someday it will be.

Lucinda Williams used to write songs as indelible as McMurtry's, but she doesn't anymore. But McMurtry is as good as ever. If you get a chance to go see him, don't pass it up.

@spiritofradio  - The live album is excellent! Give it a quick stream if it's on your streaming service. I can vouch for the quality of the vinyl. It sounds great. Very intimate.

@reubent I’ve streamed McMurtry’s music, including his latest, and have it on my want list. I think he’s great. Don’t think I’ve heard that live album. If I remember correctly there are a couple big fans of his around here. @slaw @waltersalas maybe.
