Loggins and Messina - S/T

1972 Columbia

Nice sounding pressing. Great job by Jimmy Messina producing especially on Angry Eyes.

Picked up a mint copy of Big World by Joe Jackson for $7 at a local record store.  Excellent recording - listening to it right now. Also, no ticks and pops (rare w used records).

Another new arrival today….

Daniil Trifonov - Bach: The Art Of Life. Deutsche Grammophon 2021 3LP gatefold.

really enjoying, check it out!

Just realizing how fortunate I am to be able to enjoy a Pink Floyd concert on vinyl at home 🏡

@slaw

It did spur me to check out Kami and her husband’s band; The Rails. Streaming now, not great SQ (their latest), but interesting.

So much music, so little time….🙃

Elvis Costello And the Attractions

"Armed Forces" - UK first pressing, January 1979

@slaw

It’s nice Steve. Am listening to it now. Not a ‘sonic blowout’, but instead mostly very ‘polite’ and introspective….with a couple exceptions.

Sitting here reading about how it all happened, over a 2-3 year period. Funny recollection by all.

I got it from Acoustic Sounds for $19, so you can’t go wrong with all the talent on this LP.

How is that album Brian? I think I’ve seen it before but glossed over it.

This just arrived today. I never knew this LP existed, so happy to add it to my collection.

Thompson - Family. Ammal Records 2014

Since my mono cart is installed….this…

Cannonball Adderley - Somethin' Else. Blue Note / UMe reissue 2014 Mono

@dayglow That's what I like, the variety.  I've been on a similar journey of playing all my albums, but my purpose has been play grading them and inventorying them in Discogs and doing some thinning of the herd.  I usually post when I start listening, not after as you do, so I don't often report back on the SQ.  I'm always happy to share that information if asked (and I can remember, LOL).

@big_greg Thx, appreciate the kind words. I know my music taste is all over the place with the exception of punk/post-pop punk and extreme alternative/indie which are genres mostly avoided. My goal here has been to organize/cleanse my albums by playing my entire vinyl collection and help others decide if the SQ is a make or break buying decision.

Steve, ClearAudio makes a great record hole reamer, but it's costly ($50).  It's very well built and feels really good in your hand.  But it's costly!

Dave Mason  -  Alone Together Again   I have said it before, and I'll say it again.  This endeavor by Dave Mason is a really great production.  The album cover and swirly vinyl are great.  The music is exceptionally well done.  And the sonics are really good.  Could use a little more on cymbals, but that was the mix they chose.  The bass line and kick drum are superb, as are the lead guitar and all vocals (lead and backup).  Very highly recommended.

I listened to a reissue copy of Supersession that I bought last year.  It seemed rather strident and thin, even more so than I remember (I do remember that it wasn't impressive last year).  This is an all analog issue from Speakers Corner.  I bought it thinking the all analog reissue would outperform my original copy.  I followed it by playing my original copy, from 1971.  What a difference!  The 1971 copy sounded so much smoother and elegant.  The difference between these two, if I can make an analogy, is like eating a beautiful red and sweet strawberry and then eating one that is equally pretty but is a GMO strawberry that just has no sweetness or real flavor.  I wish my original copy was in perfect condition.  I played it a lot, and plenty of times on the old Magnavox console before moving on to my first real high fidelity system.  A bit noisy in places, but still very good.  Fabulous album, by the way.  A real classic.  Great music and very good SQ.

Judas Priest-Hell Bent For Leather Side 1

Sister Sledge-We Are Family Side 2

Larry Carlton-Strikes Twice Side 1

Rosanne Cash-King's Record Shop Side 1

No Nukes-Side 3

Queen-A Day At The Races Side 1

London Grammar-If You Wait Side A

Jefferson Starship-Dragon Fly Side A

Never have I had 8 recordings so close in SQ. Was Priest/Nukes/Grammar or Starship the weakest? All 4 had very solid SQ. Finally a newer non Audiophile recording(London Grammar 2014) on vinyl that has very good SQ. It was to close to give a SQ crown tonight. The 4 other recordings were near Audiophile SQ
