Bill Evans Trio - '65
@bslon the black vinyl Sophtware Slump is excellent. It is so much better than the clear vinyl version it is amazing. I loved that record when it came out and played the hell out of it. I wish there were more copies of it on vinyl. @slaw dangit, I was at Waterloo Records today and totally forgot to look for Cake - Fashion Nugget!! Not sure why I just remembered that? |
@slaw thank you, Sir. Had lots going on and much of my listening I haven't jumped on the forum. Will try to be better about it. Peter Gabriel - Peter Plays Live - reissue - holy smokes I forgot what an amazing sounding live album this is. The soundstage is big and the low end is absolutely killer. I saw this tour, it was so great and this record brings it back. Not sure why I haven't listened to this album in so long?? |
Yep, After further listening/understanding, I wish I’d bought different values. I’m one who is slow to change, and I think that has value in the end. Keeping in mind, my latest break-in of the Cardas adapter it's my nature to evaluate, so in order to do that, one has to start at their personal best
I meant "ticky" |
Hey @6t5-gto , It's been nice having you hang with us, buddy. |
Hey Brian, @bkeske This album is sounding great to me! No SS spread but all is good 👍
My copy is proving to be tricky. |
Grandaddy - The Sophtware Slump on a Wooden Piano - I found a new copy on black vinyl today. I got a copy of the clear vinyl version of this and it is so bad, the vinyl was crazy noisy and for a piano and vocals it is bad bad bad. This version is 1000% better. Charles Lloyd - Forest Flower - at Monterey - Speakers Corner - unbelievably great recording - side 2 is a bit of free jazz but overall an amazing reference record |
@reubent dang, I was hoping it might just be my copy. It is a great record but damn near unlistenable. Guess I have to stay digital on this one.? |
@slaw
Yeah, I dreamed about the VMP set, but made a "responsible" dumb decision to hold off and get a cheap alternative. The SQ is weak on Golden Gate. Now VMP is sold out...I'm on the notify list and recently joined to get Joshua Judges Ruth. (cleaning pending) |

@6t5-gto - Very disappointed in the box set, and also the regular 20th Anniversary LP I bought and returned. Both are noisy and the vocals are recorded very hot and distort on a few of the tracks. I love the music on this album. Bought the CD when it was first released and was very excited when the 20th anniversary vinyl was released. Unfortunately, I’ve been disappointed with the vinyl. Wife bought me the box set as a gift because she knows I love David Gray. BTW, David Gray is touring and playing the entire "White Ladder" at each show. Missed him tonight in Cleveland. Too much family stuff. Hope to catch him when he swings back around to Nashville. Edit: Have you heard "Mutineers"? I like it better than "White Ladder" and the vinyl is fantastic... |
@reubent how do you like that White Ladder box? My copy is ridiculously noisy |
