What system would a robot with ears buy?

We talk a lot about perception vs. specifications and the limits of popular measurements.

I’m wondering, if you are an audiophile who had no taste but was well read, especially with specifications, what kind of a system would you end up with?

We have to consider everything, including size and power efficiency. Could you even consider an amp that was not Class D? What would your streamer/amp be?

Would you consider thermal compression?

Would you go with high efficiency horns? Best bang per watt? So, a Class D amplifier with some horns? Perhaps a Klipsch Heresy?

Or would you attempt to get the lowest possible low frequency cut off?

As a counter point, maybe we should have a contest for which a'goner has the worst measuring system they listen to. I don't mean a boom box, I mean, do you have an obscure OTL amp with single driver speakers which combined measure like crap but you love to hear?

pauly gets “best post” on this thread.  Thankfully I listen with MY human ears, and not some sort of scope or other measuring device. I’m not saying measurements don’t have their place,I’m saying my ears overrule for what I like.  I’m the one that is paying for the gear with MY money to make ME happy.
In regards to your question, I would guess something "tinny" sounding....:-)))
Electronical design measures and parameters are very useful to created POTENTIAL good performing audio system... Of any kind....

But all others not always easily measurable parameters used to control mechanical, electrical and acoustical working embeddings dimensions of any audio system are economically fine tuned by the EARS...

Then give me any "relatively good system" fitting in my small room i will make it optimal and very good by simple science facts and unorthodox means, all that with my own ruling ears...

I know because i did it...

Then all people promoting their fad best design over all others are deluded about audio fundamentals even if their fad design piece is very good....

Most people cannot fathom this simple fact....They always fall for market customers conditioning....Especially if the cost of a piece of gear is new and very high...

Music is not reducible to physical sound, it is a truth in psycho-acoustic...

Then a robot with non human ears will never listen to Beethoven.....Only to physical sounds  with some meaningfull limited patterns and meaningless noise, all of which cannot be perceived to be music  without a human rythmically beating  heart........
Definitely Wilson Audio speakers since they look like robots, then he could think they were his mates singing to him

@pauly:

I was thinking the same thing but you had the chutzpah to actually type it out...

The robot would have to audition several system configurations to listen for the perfect reproduction of of robotic voices singing Nora Jones covers;-)
OK:

I just asked Alexa and her answer was...

"Don't be a smart ass DeKay".

DeKay
The robot would obviously buy from the top reviewed products of Stereo review and Julian Hirsch.

Hirsch had no ear at all.

In that, according to the sceanrio set by the OP, we have to go with common knowledge... not leading edge lore that is still in evolution - and is unreal to the common field.

After all, it’s a numbers game.

The same system the humans without ears buy … meaning the folks who need a scope to confirm that they have a good sound system.
