"For your precious love", by Jerry Butler & The Impressions, PLEASE LISTEN TO IT!
It's nice to see so many suggestions tugging on our emotions.

The list wouldn't be complete without George Harrison's love ballad for Pattie Boyd:

Something, Abbey Road

Hopefully not getting tedious.  This one came to mind and could not resist...

"...but she sure could sing."

Mike Clifford: "I’m So Close To Cathy". I can picture my then-girlfriend and I slow dancing to this song in 1963 or 4. If you remember this song, you are old!

+10E6 on EmmyLou and Tulsa Queen...beautiful song, performance, songstress.

She had it and still does....

There are so many I've never heard. I wish there was time to click on every link. I also wish there was a "like" feature we could click to show our agreement and gratitude,
Just listen to this old gem:

I don't know why this link doesn't play automatically. You cave to click on the first box.
This may get me banned from Audiogon, but it is our (my wife and myself) "dating song" that Adam Sandler sings to Drew Barrymore at the end of the movie "The Wedding Singer" called "All I Want To Do Is Grow Old With You".

The beshevleved mishappen raw simple innocence of it makes us cry every time.
"Forever Autumn," Justin Hayward

"Romeo and Juliet,"  Dire Straits

"I've Just Seen a Face," The Beatles
Dylan's "To Make You Feel My Love."

Covered by many, but my favorite by far is Mick McCauley & Winifred Horan's version on their 2005 album "Serenade." Merely sublime.
Bed of Roses by Rex Benson and Steve Gillette.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to hear Steve Gillette and Cindy Mangsen sing the song, and some other interesting versions as well, including Kenny Rogers. Speaking of Kenny, Islands in the Stream with Dolly is another good one.
From the Movie Spinal Tap, the piano bit supporting a new song named  "Lick my love pump"
I agree that it is a lovely song with the classical melody of Plaisir d'amour.  Original song is similarly very romantic -
Joan Baez in French and English https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tfDf8cYs08
Great tenor with superb video production & translation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcrNF8cxAbI
Great soprano version for men https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjBNp07_qok
Great baritone version for women  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQLn86MlaZE

Male Sextet-King's Singers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCXCcrXkDxc
All I know is, whenever I perform "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" (Elvis from Blue Hawaii ) every couple in the room gets up to slow dance and most of the men are singing in their lady's ear. Empirical evidence.....
I'm noticing some people confuse heartfelt with romantic songs.  Cohen's Halleluiah is heartfelt, not romantic.  Read the lyrics of Erev Shel Shoshanim versus Halleluiah.  Which song would you sing to your significant other if you love them?
Bernard Herrmann's "ScÚne d'amour" from the movie "Vertigo". So beautiful it moves some people tears.
"Your Song" is a great song by Elton John.  There is another romantic one in his debut album that I like very much:

I Need You to Turn To
I'm going with "Your Song"  Elton John

I'm a little surprised was only mentioned once.
A lot of first time posters on this thread, myself included.  There are a ton of great songs being mentioned.  Here's a few more I didn't see on the list:

1) Into the Mystic-Van Morrison
2) Time After Time-Chet Baker
3) Never Enough-Loren Allred from the movie The Greatest Showman
4) One Fine Day-Natalie Merchant from the movie One Fine Day

Interestingly, two great songs mentioned numerous times "Something" and "Beautiful Tonight" were both inspired by the same woman; Patty Harrison.
Did I miss someone mentioning....

“Hallelujah” written by Leonard Cohen and covered amazingly by Jeff Buckley (among others)

Text

Evening of roses
Let us go out to the grove
Myrrh, perfumes, and Frankincense
Is the carpet under your feet

Night falls slowly
And a wind of rose blows
Let me whisper a song for you slowly
A song of love

Dawn and the dove coos
Your hair is full of dewdrops
Your lips are as roses unto the morning
I will pick them for myself

Erev Shel Shoshanim - An evening of Roses  Hundreds of recordings
My favorites include https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jr8zzS-Gjp4  Malka & Joso
The Parvarim  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEpNy0_EjHU (right two are Simon & Garfunkel look & sound alikes who made a hebrew version of their songs looking just like them).
Or how about this youth zoom choir Newark Academy

(You’re the only thing) can make me cry - Concrete Blonde https://youtu.be/TA_q0Ahl9XY
Barebones acoustic, it’s simple, genuine, and heartfelt.

If you want a classic that’s a little unconventional, listen to Jimmy Durante sing “As time goes by.” He’s proof that a great singer doesn’t necessarily fit a stereotype. https://youtu.be/duMUG6XwwQ0

Sinatra’s The Way You Look Tonight is another ageless classic and an obvious choice: https://youtu.be/YFham2Xu6nA
The first time ever I saw your face. Roberta Flack
Cherish.  The Association
When I Fall in Love  The Lettermen
The Way You Look Tonight. The Lettermen
