Tidal Speakers owners

Could you please write your impressions about the Tidal speakers you currently own ? I will probably buy the Tidal Piano Cera in the near future so I would appreciate your feedback...

tbg, when isay"me too speakers" imeant tidal is --not marten or rockport, etc. nothing in tidal design is original. pretty box with "special"ceramic drivers, diamond tweeter(kharma did that 15 years ago!).don't know bmc arcedia- new speaker?maybe hear it in munich.
mike60, maarten is better speaker then tidal. for sure.
the new focal line isvery very good. just listen, and you get it.one member sold sunray"refernce"(?) for focal stella- ask him.
Focalfan,
There was a mint pair of latest Focal Grand Utopia EM for sale here couple of weeks ago which I'm sure many noticed. A 180k speaker offered for 50k must be some great speakers? Well if not, at least a great buy. If in my country, at that price, I'd probably give them a go--although doubtful that it would play nice in my smallish room.

As Ojdeteos said, even your today's best will get replaced eventually. I've heard many 100-200k+ speakers, few stood out, but none best, just different--hence choices. Your relentlessly thrashing one brand in particular is just beyond me. Try to enjoy more your wonderful speaker/set-up instead. If the music is serve right, beautiful and engrossing enough, I doubt that you'd have the time to be distraught with other people's choices, like or dislike anymore.

OR, maybe you could even share/post your system here virtually to enlighten/educate us on what constitute/how to properly assemble a truly sota system?
'maarten is better speaker then tidal.for sure.'.....you seriously need to invest in an ear product called 'cerumenex'...brief description...it cleans the wax out of ear canals.by the way...do you the meaning of the word 'narcissist..?...YOU DO HAVE A PROBLEM...
A clarification to my post: Marten is expensive. That means beyond what i want to spend on a speaker. Not in any way implying they are poor value for money.
I've enjoyed reading this thread which now makes me want to reach out and try to audition some Tidal's. Though I didn't read the entire thread I read quite a bit, very informative. Anyway, thanks for the enlightenment on Tidal gentlemen, great thread!! Guess I need to start a search..
Thank you Tbg, So do you still have your Tidals? What area of Tx are you in? I sure wouldn't mind giving them a listen if you're close but no way to get in contact via Audiogon anymore.
I recently heard the Tidal Contriva Diacera SE at Axpona in Jacksonville and was mightily impressed with all aspects of their sound. So much so that I just bought a used pair of the Piano Cera, which should be arriving next week. Can't wait to get them installed and begin the inevitable sequence of other upgrades that will follow ;-).
Photon,
Congrats on the new speakers! Don't forget to update us here with your thoughts on the Piano Cera, looking forward to your impression of them.
johngp..where do you live..if texas is not close to you maybe virginia is. i have a pair of the 'contriva diacera-ses and would be more than happy to have you over for a listen...they are amazing..
Photon46,
Congrats! Enjoy the journey.. Properly dialed-in, pretty sure you will love them.

Johngp,
If anywhere near, I'd myself jump on Calloway's gracious offer. Certainly worth a trip to listen to his beautiful set-up.
Hi Calloway,
I am actually in Texas(Austin), I think Tbg is close to me but not sure. Thank you for the offer, very kind of you, but, VA is just a "little" ways away from me! lol. Have a nice weekend!
Johngp, unfortunately for a multitude of reasons, my Tidals are sitting and awaiting shipping to their new owner. Presently, I am using LSA1 Statements, a monitor speaker that costs less than $3000. These are what I use in my small room in our NM mountain house. Although they are an exceptional speaker for the money, they are not the Contriva Diacera SEs, especially on symphonic music.
The thread is alive again,

Photon46, congrats on the new purchase, it will be very enjoyable.

Johngp, i agree with bvdiman, i also would like to hear calloway's if i'm near, unfortunately i'm not.
Looks like Tidal is rolling out many new products this year. I am especially interested in the new Piano X-Tender's. Will be looking forward to hearing more.
Tbg,
Sorry to hear you sold your Contriva's. If you don't mind what was your reason for selling, just want to try another brand or upgrading to a higher model?

Bostonbean,
So how are you liking your Piano's now that you've owned them for a while? Any further thoughts on them?

Thank you.
Johngp, just this week I ordered a pair of the BMC Arcadia speakers. I had been using little LSA1 Statement speakers, such as I use in my small room in NM where I avoid Texas summer heat. Frankly, I miss my Contrivas, but the LSAs are very close. I had heard the Arcadias at CES in prototype and with no breakin before the show. I was struck by their dynamics early on and as they broke in, I was very impressed.

But they like the Contrivas are heavy and my listening room in Texas is on the second floor. I have to get movers to get the speakers into my room. With the LSAs, I can carry them into my room myself. I finally decided to go ahead with the Arcadias. This will probably be the last big speakers I buy.
just a 'heads-up'..for those of you in the DC/Maryland area Chalice Audio will be using my 'Grail' amps with Tidal 'Piano Diacera' speakers and dCS products and Argento cabling. Doug Whiyte of 'The Voice That Is'.will also have a room with Tidal 'Contriva Diacera-se' speakers and other great equiptment at the Capital Audio Fest in july...13th-15th.hope some of you can make it there..should be fun..
Hello,
I am new around here, but have read this thread from the begining. Very interesting stuff that have, in part, motivated me to order a pair of Contriva Diacera SE that should be here (Brazil) by June.
For the moment, I am going to drive them with a pair of Classé Monoblocks CAM-600. Questions:
1) Has anybody tried this match? The CAM-600 are very neutral and I have not seen people with Contrivas + Classé.
2) Next, when cash allows, I am planning to upgrade to Vitus Audio SM-102 monoblocks. Again, is that a good match?

Thanks
Enrique
Hello
I am new around here, but have read this thread from the beginning. Very interesting and useful stuff that have, in part, motivated me to order a pair of Contriva Diacera SE. They should be here (in Brazil) by June and I will be driving them with a pair o Classé CAM-600 monoblocks. So here is my question: has anybody tried this match? I am kind of worried given that the Classé are very neutral.

Any insights are welcome
Enrique
Hi Enrique, I will going receive one tidal piano diacera, do you live in Recife?
I will drive with audiopax maggiore.
Colo-colo, Congratulations on your Contriva purchase. I do not have the Contriva's but I do not see a problem with the Classe amps. Of course good upstream components and good cabling helps. You also mentioned something about Vitus. A highly thought of audio company. I am guessing the Contriva's would love those amps.
I am sure some Contriva owners will weigh in.

Johngp, Loving my Piano Diacera's. If I had to list one thing that impresses me the most about these speakers it would be overall presentation. These speakers definitely do not lose the forest for the trees. Sure, they do an excellent job in all those areas people obsess about, i.e., imaging, detail, tonality, prat, etc. You can easily focus in on each of these areas for a short time but you are inexorably drawn back to the overall presentation of the music, the same experience as listening to live music. When listening to live music no one focuses in on, for example, detail or imaging because they know it is there automatically. Same with the Piano Diacera's. Just a quick impression on the fly.
Georgemg: yes, I am in Recife. Where are you?Which pre are you going to be using?

Bostombean: yes, I am planning to upgrade to Vitus monoblocks. I am currently have a Vitus linestage, so I guess a natural upgrade path.

Also, anyone knows the frequency response and sensibility of the Contriva diaceras?

Enrique
Enrique. I live at Fortaleza, I posted some Tidal speakers fotos in HTF last year, my room is only 3,5x6 metres, so I prefer the paino diacera, Where are Dr. Lins, Ricardo from Le disq, Ivan... I will trave to Munique show this year with 3 friends. My pre is joule mariane 300LA. we are discusing some points of view in HTF subtopic "clube dos audifilos, go there and send me a email.
Bostonbean,
Thanks for the reply, good to hear you're still loving your Piano Cera's. Tidal seems to be producing some exceptional speakers. This thread has been a great read!

John
Johngp, Bostonbean has the mighty Piano Diaceras (latest version with variotuning technology and black drivers). I have the first production pair of Piano Ceras.
Oops, sorry about that!

Well now that I've got your attention how are you feeling about your Ceras Linkster? Still loving them as much as when new?
ABSOLUTELY. Put it this way, my speakers were damaged and I got a nice insurance settlement and guess what I am doing. I am having them repaired at Tidal and updated with the new black graphite drivers. The only speaker I would consider as a replacement would be the Piano Diacera.
If I am not mistaken the Tidal Piano x-tender will have side firing woofers!?!

Happy Listening all,

mike
X-tender will also work with the Amea series according to Jorn. Don't know about the driver choice/configuration.
Linkster,
Oh man, damaged!?! Glad you had insurance on those babies. So you originally had the white drivers and the black drivers are newer/better? Do you know the difference between the two drivers? Thanks for the info, glad your speakers are being repaired/upgraded.
Jorn implies, if I am not mistaken, that black drivers are a tad better. I dont know how much though and under what optimum circumstances this is noticable. Owners of speakears with white drivers can upgrade at a cost around 2000$.
The black drivers are close enough in performance to the white ones such that they can be swapped in without any crossover changes. It is my understanding that there is a small performance gain. The Sunray has always used the black drivers so it it not a question if they are newer, Tidal simply decided to employ them in the rest of their designs.
Geopolitis, you seem very enthusiastic about Sovereign amplifiers. Can you kindly tell me more about them? Sorry to digress from this thread.
I believe that they are excellent value for money amplifiers (even though they are still expensive) and definitely a worthy match with Tidal speakers. It is an fine alternative for the people that cannot afford Tidal electronics. For example I have not read any reviews about the Sovereign preamplifier but it is one of the very few preamplifiers I would consider as an alternative to a Tidal Preos... Of course Preos is a better preamp if your priotity is the absolute neutrality.... But that comes with a higher cost....
Has anyone heard the latest Tidal Prisma and Impulse amps?
How great are they?
Regarding Tidal Agoria, if its sound matches its looks then Sunray will face some serious competition for the title of the best speaker ever built...
Geopolitis,
What is your take on Tidal's latest amp, the Impulse, vs Sovereign Eternity?
I have listened to the Sovereign Eternity driving the Sunray but I haven't heard the Impulse yet. I guess that you cannot go wrong with either of them....
Focalfan it is funny that 90% of your answers in this forum, I just checked by the way, refer to Tidals and how bad sounding they are. Sales are dropping huh?
