Schiit Audio

I am interested in purchasing the Loki Max, and I sent out some feelers asking a few questions to the email address they have on the website. No response for a few days. So I come here and I see very mixed opinions on them. Are they a decent company to deal with? Anyone has had any extreme negative experience dealing with them or with one of their products? The Loki Max checks all the right features..

schiit is a high volume low margin business.... they do answer, but it takes time

they have 15 day money back policy... just buy it, the lokius a few hundred bucks, try it, keep if you like it, send it back if not

they make good stuff, terrific value for the $$, and when i have needed help, warranty support/repairs, etc... they have come through for me

They have responded quickly to my emails. I would try again if there was no response after a few days.

Be aware that there is a restocking fee, which varies by product (look on the product webpage). It is 5% for a Loki Max.

They overall have good customer service and as noted ; they do charge you with a restocking fee if you have to send the Shiit back. I would also also give it a try......

I own a couple of their components. They were consistently good to work with and responsive to some issues and concerns that came up with the equipment. I am very satisfied with the gear, great value.

Thank you all for responding!! I have been contemplating a high end equalizer, just to tweak and play with, in one of my systems.. I have the DBX 1231 and a vintage Optimus that still does great. But the Loki Max looks very enticing and looking to make a decision and purchase it in the next few days. I understand the restocking fee, as they are a small business. @mspot 5% seems reasonable for the Loki Max.  @zlone have you had any reliability issues with the components that you own? My biggest concern is the Loki Max sending any spurious damaging signal downstream into any of the components..

I have an original Gungnir that I also shipped back to upgrade to a Gumby. That has worked flawlessly. My first Freya + had problems in one channel when I received it and it had to be returned. But first they walked me through some tests to ensure it was not just a tube problem. My second Freya + arrived and it had a loose part inside and they agreed to let me open it up and resolve the problem. It was a simple fix to restore a clip on heat sink. You could call these quality concerns, I say Schiit happens. All correspondence was timely, and in the latter case occurred as they were evacuating their buildings during the fires a few years back. I see a company that works hard to deliver a high value U.S. made product, and backs it up. My only advice if you ever need service, have some patience, and never be a jerk, you might find yourself at the end of the line.

As for your specific concerns regarding spurious signals, unless there is a basis for this concern I would not worry too much. Reviews I have read on the Loki Max have been pretty favorable. That said, everything affects the sound, and looking at your system online, it does not seem inline with the level of gear you are running.

No problems with Schiit Bifrost, then Uber upgrade and last year another Bifrost 2 and Schiit Freya +. I think they are high volume because they make affordable HI FI gear. I have been very happy with Schiit Audio components.

I purchases a used EITR and had a question and they answered me and were very helpful

My only issue is electrical component failure a few months over warranty. They only offered to sell me another one.

Their warrantees are long enough to protect them, customers are on their own

I’m out.

Thank again to every one for your valuable feedback. I have decided to not go for the Loki Max equalizer.. I do have a good system, that took me over three years to tweak, swap and get to a point where I absolutely love it. if it ain't broken don't fix it..

Email responses can take a few days...  Great value at amazing price points, and Made in the USA !  Ticks all the right boxes for me.

I have had great experiences with them. Like their products great value. Yes they are mid fi but they are at the top of that market. Yes they are not known for their customer service almost to the point of being smart asses. I guess that does keep cost down!

I'm an "original" Freya owner and the thing is amazingly good...I also have a couple of Magni 3s, an original Loki, and a Bifrost 2 with the 64 bit upgrade, all excellent. I've never had issues communicating with the Schiit heads as I did have issues with an Aegir which they replaced and I ultimately returned the second one, no problemo. If you have issues with their warranty I suggest looking elsewhere or grow up...or both.

Hey, @rman9!  I have all my gear jammed into a small apartment; speaker placement is horrible  Loki  is awesome.  I have the original four-band but it's all that's required.  Easy to set-up, quiet and well built.

Get on it ....

I cannot speak to the Loki, but I do have the Mani which blew away EVERYTHING in its price class, and even some in more expensive units.  I would feel confident with their warranty and that the company is not sleazy like some dealers/manufacturers that lurk on here.

I have a LOKI max and it is awesome in my view. I have a pass 250 connected to dynaudio 40’s. I dont use it much, but there are times I need to correct some bass booms or adjust bright recordings. It does not muck up the sound like the old eq’s The controls are very subtle and you can dial in just what you want. It it superbly built.
