RIP Chuck Mangione

Had a memorable evening with Chuck Mangione under an eclipsing moon at Red Rocks.  Maybe less memorable, I heard the Chuck Mangione Quartet at Ebbets Field in Denver, while I was under the influence of some psychoactive substance.  Thanks for the music and memories, Chuck.

So sorry to hear of his passing at 84 years old. Hadn't heard much of him for decades as I wasn't into the cool jazz genre but did appreciate the quality of his work. Enjoy the music

Thanks for the post of this sad news.  My young wife and I went to see and hear him at a club during my college years in Seattle.  This was circa 1971-2.  He was very much on top of his game at that time.  Now I will spin a record or two in his honor.

I lived in Rochester, NY, from '69 - '73 while going to college there, and Chuck Mangione lived in Rochester and would play gigs all over, including at my college....

Heard him live at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor back in my college days.  It was a great performance. I also not long ago pulled out his double LP "Live at the Hollywood Bowl."  Very good memories and still enjoy his music after all these years.

While his death was mentioned on the news it took a back seat to the lead story of Hulk Hogans death.  Hulk Hogan.  What a joke.  Spending your life as a fake "wrestler" and the American public actually eats up this crap!!?!?  Sad commentary.  Sorry.  Had to get that off my chest somewhere.

@corelli + 1 - Rough week; never mind Hogan, he was no hero, but we lost Ozzy and the guy in Golden Earring who wrote 'Radar Love' and other great songs.

Chuck's music always takes me back to my childhood.  Seems every Sunday afternoon my mom's radio would eventually play some of his music.  RIP

@mahler123   How about that.  Nice acoustics in that place.  I think I heard him in '79 or '80.

"Feels So Good" is a beautiful musical art form of the celebration of life!

Another great jazz artist gone. I hope these great talents are having a huge Jazz Festival in Heaven right now. Playing “Feels So Good” as loud and smooth as it was played on Earth.

@77jovian...I was also at that Red Rocks concert.  What a magical, mystical night!  He was fantastic.

Haven’t thought about that show in a long time.  Thanks for the memories.

R.I.P. Chuck...you were one-of-a-kind!
