Thanks, guys, for the suggestions. I will be shopping around.
I have upgraded my wall warts, mostly for fear of noise, but having taken apart some Rega mini accessories I have to agree, that needs to be replaced. For the same reasons, I recommend Pro-Ject electronics over anything made by Rega. Better value and better attention to power supply noise abatement: Still what most would call "entry-level" though, if you are serious about vinyl you'll probably want something even better. If you do have other devices worth an upgrade, I recommend the iFi wall wart replacements: I use them mostly because I feel they prevent more noise from getting back-fed through the AC supply to other equipment. I use them on my streamer, DAC and Ethernet swtch. Seriously though, if you are investing right now, a new phono stage is probably your better way to go. |
+1 for what @audphile1 says. Save your money for a much better phono stage - like those from Simaudio

As @coralkong points out, don't expect miracles. A power supply upgrade will provide minor improvements on a excellent piece of gear. I just googled the piece of gear in question and it cost 40% of the cost of the upgraded power supply. Not a good plan. Jerry |
The Rega fono mini is a $200 phono pre-amp, so I’m not sure how much more performance you can squeeze out of it. You can always try an upgraded power supply, as @carlsbad2 pointed out, but I’m not sure I’d expect miracles. Pretty quickly, you're going to run into a situation where you're throwing good after bad, so to speak. JM2CW. |
