Let them sit in the sun...really.
Power Cable in White
I purchase some Big Cat 14 awg cables in white for my powered speakers but I can’t get them to lay flat, I guess because they are fairly inexpensive. I just can not get the bends out. You folks know all the cable companies out there, can someone recommend a decent power cable in white, for a reasonable price, that will lay nicely for me? Thanks!
@digsmithd - Tried that, thanks. They are a bit to long, so need new ones anyways. |
Puritan Audio Classic or Classic +. Great bang for the buck. I'm not sure if they still make white though, their flagship ultimate cable is no longer made in white, and I am not sure if that has carried down the line. If interested, I would recommend Mike Kay at Audio Archon in Chicago. A real straight shooter. |
@jeffreyw - Thanks. I know Mike well, I have purchased equipment from him in the past. |
As @digsmithd recommended, or try a hair dryer. |
@rocray Thanks, but I need the cables to be 2' shorter than what I have now, just hoping someone could recommend a cable that's not so finicky. |
Given the quality of your components I recommend you fish from a better cable / interconnect pond. Your system could sound better with high quality cables. For speaker cables I would recommend trying three different high quality brands… maybe the cable company in the $800 range… or better yet used (@ ~ 50% original cost) and you are likely to get a big performance boost. Then figure out how to turn them white. |
Puritan Audio definitely still make their classic, classic+, and ultimate cable all in white. I live in the UK, it’s a UK company, so perhaps that’s why I still have all the colour options. Their cables are some of the few with many different length options as standard and will lay flat as they’re extremely flexible. |
navyachts OP"Thanks, but I need the cables to be 2’ shorter than what I have now" ..................................... 14 awg, need 2’ shorter, now I’m curious ____? ever see someone straighten a curled ribbon by pulling it across the outside round edge of the scissors? you could get some (not perfect) change by pulling the cable over the edge of a broom handle a few times, that kind of thing. |
@digsmithd - @ghdprentice - @rocray - @waytoomuchstuff Thanks for all the suggestions, serious and otherwise. I've kinda blown the motherload on the components, went way over budget so I don't have a lot of cash left over for $800 cables. Maybe instead of the clothes dryer, shrink tube, conduit and a pipe bender, I'll just pick up a can of white spray paint. |
@tweak1 - 2 at 4 feet long. They are only for powering my Martin Logan speakers so I think under $100 would be more than sufficient, how about you? |

@tweak1 - Sure, that would be great! What brand and price? Thanks! |

@tweak1 - Having a bunch of trouble registering on the website and have to run now. I might wire a receptacle into the floor right behind the speaker, then I would only need a 1 foot cord. I'll keep you posted, thank you! |
