Let me just say before this goes too far, Millercarbon will say get the Tekton's and others will say anything but the Tekton's.  What that says, in just that exchange that will take place, there is no perfect speaker.  There is only that perfect speaker to your ears.  Can you test drive all of them?
I think it is harder than ever to testdrive speakers in this day and age given the virus and all the busness closings that have happened.  Hifi shops were closing already as foot traffic was reduced from online buying.  Before the covid thing was upon us.
Won't be able to test drive. Since I wrote, Tannoy KensingtonGR, two years old were added to the list. I like my DI's. My brother in law has some Victory Coincients that sound very good. I've never heard Focal's and the liked the Tannoy's I heard 30 years ago. Just know they have great reps. Also kind of wondering about the ten years and if it makes a big dif.regarding degradation.
I would not be looking to power Utopias with low to moderate power tube amp. I have heard Moabs and a few more recent Utopia line speakers, and my opinion it is pretty lopsided. No speaker is an island though, you have to have the right gear.
You can't audition so your knowledge will be limited.  Listen to your BIL's setup.  What amp is he using on the Victorys?  Is it similar to yours?  Can you take your amp over his house and see how they work with the Victorys?  The Coincidents have very high quality drivers and are designed to work with moderate power tube amps.  I would encourage you to go in their direction.
Yes, a nice min of power amp will be required to drive properly, and not clip the amps.
We have been through many amps past 30 years,....have found a min of 250-300 WPC/RMSIS NEEDED. To listen too, any less, you will clip your amp, u less you have 250+ rms per channel.
People will say,...20 watts, 59 watts ,...those first watt at 3-7 watts per channel is enough,...HAHAHAHAHAH, don’t drink the koolaid!!!

Watts and headroom you will need to properly drive speakers!
even low watt speakers, you will need headroom to drive ur speakers!

sure, a 10 W class a amp will drive a pair of 91 spl speakers ,......

if you listen , or want to listen a bit louder,...you will need power.
Headroom will slam the crescendo to what I need!

The flea watt amps will never be enough!

get a min 250+ WPC/rms  to drive, and control ur speakers!

Been through a lot of speakers and amps,...nothing will satisfy you like power.
My least powerful amps are about 375WPC @4Ohm,most powerful are about 1000W at 4Ohms!!.....
speakers rated at only 250W peak!  The sound is amazing, the headroom, the drums, guitar, everything is superb!  We will stick to our 250 WPC + amps ,for headroom, bass slam, midrange, etc etc.

try out amps, if you don’t believe  headroom is the answer , use the flea watt amps to drive speakers. and see for yourself the advantage  of more power.
 We will never look back!

250-300+ WPC AMPS WILL satisfy you!
don’t believe the hype and tripe!

If you want something less heavy to drive, Audiovector are easy to drive and are very good.
Some ready good comment and one ignorant one FULL OF CAPS.

Focals need more power than your amp provides to sound their best. IME, you could summarize their sound as tonally balanced, more detailed than many others(but not hyper-etched). They make their drivers, as well as for many other companies, which has got to be a plus for future-proofing.

Coincidents are designed for mid-to-lowish tube amps. A great match for what you'll use. IME, they have a very lively sound, with the sound jumping out of the speaker in a good way directionally towards how horns do that. Bass may not go quite low or deep as the Focals, but what's there is very fast, tuneful. Imaging soundstage is superb.

Tektons - No opinion except that if they were never mentioned again, Audiogon would be more enjoyable.

Cheers,
Spencer
I like my new Revels.  Have fun!

Just kidding.  No I mean I do like them, but the only way to know is to listen to them or rely on proper reviews.  Good luck
@baldachin,
Are you using the Wyetech Topaz 211 based amplifier? Your Wyetech is a watts quality more so than quantity proposition.  I believe that the Coincident and Tannoy are more suited to your amplifier than Focal speakers, particularly given your large listening space.

You have Double Impacts so it's certainly possible that you'd be happy with the Tekton MOAB. All things considered my gut feeling is Wyetech-Coincident  Pure Reference Extreme would be a beautiful sounding pairing.

This speaker is exceptionally resolved and pure and I believe that it will fully exploit all the excellent attributes of the Wyetech amplifier.  Focals I  believe will require much more power in the large listening room.

Tannoy I think would  pair well with the Wyetech. The MOAB has garnered much attention and are easy to drive. Very different design and implementation compared to the Coincident Pure Reference (Which emphasize driver quality,  enclosure integrety/internal bracing and first order simpler crossovers). Would be an interesting direct comparison.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I have the Saphire amps 18 watts each, but if the Focals were appreciably better than the Coincidents, I could get higher powered ss amps. What I liked about the Tektons was the 104 sensitivity. But no one seems to know anything about the v18.
Hello,
10 years on a speaker is fine. You can check for dry rot but I doubt you will se any. I think it will come down to looks. With the tweeter/ midrange array on the Tekton. vs the coincidence setup you will be happy either way. The one thing is the Tekton speakers will be new. Plus with the upgraded parts it will be amazing. I think it is between these two brands. I have only heard the double impacts at a reviewers house. They were really great on the Classe preamp and mono blocks.
I am a Tannoy fan. I have a pair of Churchill’s with super tweeters.  They are my forever speakers. The real deal.
  KISS baldachin,
keep it sweet & simple. Conceptually I am not a fan of multi-driver speakers, although a speaker with a 104 sensitivity majorly peaked my interest. I did a quick search for the Tekton V18 & came up with nada...... so???

Wyetech Laboratories has built some of the finest Hi-Fi ever made, with the 572M amps coming to mind, the 18 watt Saphires I've only heard of. But I can tell you one thing, you'll never drive a pair of Nova Utopia's satisfactorly with them. I run a Classe' DR9 with a pair of 946 Focal Electra's (93dB 8‎Ω) in a 13'x26' room, similar efficiencies to the Nova's. That said, an even more robust amp to get more attack from the drivers, like a full on Class A Krell, or a Threshold, wouldn't be a bad idea. The Saphires won't due with the Focal set-up.

With the dimentions of your listening room and that sweet sounding
Wyetech, have you considered a pair of Klipshorns? 103db!

The Tannoy KensingtonGR's are a step in the right direction, 93 dB/Watt sensitivity, same as the Focal's. But what about the Canterbury's? 96 dB Sensitivity! Better yet the Westminster's, 99db!
Wyetech &  Westminster's, that's audio royalty.

Thanks again for all the input. I just got back from Montreal. Picked up a used pair of Verity Sarastro 11's. They sure sounded good in the sellers room. Can't wait to hook 'em up in mine.
