NEW Cerious Technologies Upgrade - Graphene Matrix Cables

CT Graphene Matrix Cables:

I have been using the CT GE cables for almost two years.
I recently traded up for a full loom of CT Graphene Matrix cables, including speaker, interconnect and PCs, and I wanted to share my experience. I started by replacing only the ICs to try and hear the differences.

The new Matrix interconnects sounded better than the GE immediately after install. I found the original Graphene Extreme ICs to be good but not on the same level as the outstanding GE speaker cables. As break-in started to clear things up, I can hear more clarity and detail not heard before. The ICs are incredible on their own and at the 30 hour mark, I can hear a clear superiority over the GE ICs. I recently started using the Teo Game Changer ICs and preferred them over GE but the Teo has now fallen to the new Graphene Matrix ICs. My Teo’s were and are great, and it is stunning to experience Cerious Technologies commitment to making great technology better.

On the third day of listening to the GM ICs. I couldn’t wait anymore, Having too much fun. I then installed the speaker cables and power cords once I had a pretty good feel for the sound of the GM ICs.

With the full loom of GM cables running in they are going through some strange changes and definitely need time to settle down before realizing what they can really do and very important Bob says to not move them. Since I have a home office I can let them run in all day. I’m at around 120 hours now and they are still improving. Here’s what I’m hearing:

Extended highs and tighter lows.
More detail and better low level listening
Drums are tighter, more clearly defined. So real is the snap of the snare drum. The bass has more depth, seemingly goes deeper, lower. This aspect stands out the most.

I am not in the industry, I’m not an engineer, I don’t work for Cerious Technologies, but I am a fan of the cables and am enjoying what my system is capable of.

I’m closer to my own pinnacle of sound reproduction than ever before.

Dave,

let us know how that Audioquest Cable holds up against the Matrix. I haven’t had an AQ Cable in my system in years. I would bet the farm it won’t beat the Matrix.
@the zaps

I too am curious how The AQ Storm series compares to the Matrix power cords? Hopefully soon will compare soon.
@lancelock

I've been wishing for a while to try a Matrix with gold connections (I've found that I don't like rhodium), so I don't think I'll be able to compare, which is why I was asking.  I will let everyone know what I think.  I currently have a Cardas Clear Beyond (rhodium ends), Krell Vector HC (rhodium ends), and a custom Wireworld Silver Electra 7 with silver ends (just like the Platinum version).  I've also previously had the Kubala Sosna Elation and Emotion PC's.  The PC  I'm using now is a PC that was custom made by Marcelino Lopez at Celestial Audio/Video in Phoenix, AZ (no longer in business).
Dave

Ok I just installed 2 sets of single ended Matrix IC. What improvement can I expect in the next 100 hrs?
Thanks,
Russ
Russ,

These are some comments from Bob:

”I wanted to let you know that they have a very sophisticated reactive jacket which takes a while to calm down and lock in. This along with break in will result in the first week being wildly varying with regard to sound. Just do not move them around and they will jump leaps virtually every night. After a couple of days "Massed vocals" will start to come to clear and distinct individual voices and layers of detail will become scary”

They will continue to break in for a period of 200 hours, of course maybe thats because I kept moving things.

Lance
I agree completely about the break in!   I just received my Audioquest Hurricane yesterday, so I put it on my amp last night.  Right off, it sounded like a lot of bass and not very clear.  I almost wanted to take it out right away.  Sometimes, my mind is telling me - there's no way this thing can improve enough for me to like it.  Break in can definitely play with your head.  Giving it time....
Dave
The Matrix just continue to amaze me. I have lost all interest in wanting to know what other cables sound like.
Hi Everybody,
I am posting to apologize, as I went to China for 10 days to meet with suppliers and also some fun. Before I went I forwarded all my business email to my personal gmail account, which I found out is blocked by the Chinese government. Everything Google is blocked in China! I am back and catching up as quick as I can. Thanks to everyone for their patience! Perhaps Tiger Woods will pay me to go back so he can win again...
Bob
sometimes no email can make a trip much better, but does make returning home difficult...hope you had fun
Thx for the update Bob... I had sent an email while you were away and was looking for a quote for GE speaker cables + jumpers. I did not see jumpers on your web site and thus have not ordered yet!
Has anyone compared the Cerius Damping squared interconnects to Acrolink cables, particularly the expensive Mexcel ones?

After months of dragging my feet I finally ordered the Matrix speaker cables and they arrived today. Having owned the GE's previously I was acquainted with their build quality and massive size and weight and the Matrix don't disappoint in his regard.

I was prepared to endure listening to subpar music as these cables burned in but to my surprise they sound amazingly good right out of the shoot. Like stupid good. I'm anxiously awaiting just how good they'll sound after burning in.

Bob was a pleasure to work with and I appreciate his prompt shipping. It's a no brainer now.....a full loom of Matrix cables is in my future.....with no foot dragging this time!
Totally agreed. They are an investment, but still a bargain in terms of price to performance ratio. I've got to get one more for my phono preamp, and then I will be all set. I love these cables!
I'd like to add that all of the Matrix products that I've added to my system (power cable, digital cable, interconnects, speaker cable) sounded very good directly out of the box and in my opinion only seem to sound better with use.
I have 2 sets of single ended Ic’s, Speaker cables with custom jumpers, and a 2 gang outlet box Bob made me from his best power cord wire.
Love it all and Bob is a pleasure to deal with.
In my system it absolutely beats the Audience AU 24Sx that it replaced at  less than half retail pricing.
I am looking to upgrade to a full power loom in the future.
Everything needs at least 3 weeks to sound its best. My speaker cables where all over the first week. Man are they good though. Due to room constraints I only have my Personas 20 inches from the front wall. The Matrix still gives me a deep stage with room in between the players front to back. Fantastic layering of instruments. Vocals have a beautiful texture. Tight bass with delicate highs. Really a very nice cable top to bottom.  Highly Recommended !!

Ordering two pair of Matrix Damping Squared IC's tomorrow so I'm very thankful! Thanks to Bob for all of his great products and service.
I am curious how cerious Extreme and Matrix power cords would compare to Cardas clear beyond power cord. I am using clear beyond on tube amps (coincident Frankenstein mono blocks). Thanks guys.
Any body heard dream state audio lucid dream / dream catcher PCs in their system? How about snake river audio Cottonmouth PC? I find cottonmouth very engaging  on my CD player. Wonder how matrix / extreme compare to these cords. Thanks.
I had the Cardas Clear Beyond and sold it. There was much that I liked about it, but the rhodium ends tainted the sound for me (I don’t seem to like rhodium). I’m enjoying my Audioquest Hurricane much much more. I’ve been wanting to try the Matrix with gold ends, but I can’t seem to get one   :-)

Dave
Happy Cyber Monday everybody! This is Bob from Cerious Technologies. Well you asked for it and here it is. Cyber Monday deal, buy one Graphene Matrix power cord at the regular price and get a second one for HALF price! The half price cord can be any of equal or shorter length than the first. So...No...you cannot buy a 3 foot cord at regular price and get a 16 foot cord for half price. The Black Friday blowout of Graphene Extreme is going great so feel free to add to the insanity. Thank you all so much and we have an ad on Audiogon or you can contact us directly.

Unfortunately, you missed it. The listing was only for one day - Cyber Monday. Did anyone take advantage of this Matrix Power Cord deal?   If you did, please share if you are getting the rhodium or the gold ends.
Thanks,
Dave
Yep.  I did the deal.  A 20 amp GM PC with gold ends for my amp and a 15 amp GM PC with gold ends for my HT processor.   Some fun for the Holidays  :-)
Dave
Sorry about the ad disappearing...My darn customers keep on buying! You GUYS...
I will offer this deal through Christmas to repeat customers and another week for newbies. You can just email me directly. We are going a little crazy here but all in a good way...

Hello,

Anybody here had experience comparing Graphene Matrix XLR vs. Kimber Kable KS-1116 XLR  (or KS-1126 XLR) vs. Audio Art Statement e XLR interconnect? Please kindly help me with your thought.

Thank You
I've never had either Kimber or Audio Art, so I'm not much help.  I will say that Bob is absolutely wonderful to work with, and you can't go wrong with trying out the Matrix XLR's .

Dave
@littlecx, your question might be more beneficial if you were to specify which Matrix cable you are talking about and what cable length.
I have a matrix 12 foot power cord and I do not notice a deterioration of music with a shorter matrix power cord.
littlecx,

I have a couple of 12 footers also along with several 6 footers. No difference in sound that I can tell.

Hi Everyone,
A quick note on why the Matrix sounds the same in different lengths. Most traditional cables are mass produced in a spool and this wire is them spooled off and cut to length. So...each length will sound different. Since we hand make each conductor, we computer model each conductor at each length and build it to the exact model length. In simpler terms, we make each conductor differently varying by length. The "mix" of components and gauge of metal based conductors will vary by how long it is. We design and construct cables to perform in a specific manner and dial in the parameters of each conductor to ensure they all perform like a Matrix conductor should each and every time. This is the ONLY way to ensure that you have a cable that performs the way as designed. Otherwise you get to play Goldilocks with lengths until you find one that is "just right..."

Hi Bob,
I sent you some emails over the course of a few weeks, which went unanswered. Maybe you could give me a reply. I don’t really want to discuss the problem on this site.

Joe
Just ordered a graphene matrix gold. Currently feeding a P15 regenerator with a HFC Reveal. Figure I'll A/B the cables feeding the P15 then use the loser to feed the DAC.  Anyone have experience with a similar configuration?
@doitwithlife, Sounds to me like you can't lose either way. I ended up using my Graphene Matrix Gold on my Hemisphere and moved my HFU power cord to my Dac. You win either way. ;-)

@lak,

Yes, I don't think either is going to be bad. I've gotten both cables blind so don't know what to expect out of the Matrix. From what I read in the forums it should be an impressive upgrade. My thought is I'll end up like you, Matrix doing the heavy lifting and the HF feeding the Dac

Lance,

This is a late question base on G Matric cable thread start date.

I'm changing my equipment rack to support twin Pass Labs Mono blocks.

At present I'm using Acoustic Zen Silver Ref ll's balanced 24"L. New setup

will require longer runs.

Are you still on board with the G Matric and their performance after almost 2 yrs??

I would greatly appreciate your feed back. Before I pull my trigger on new cables..

@tubes444

I have stopped searching for cables. I’m very satisfied with the quality of the Matrix line of cables. I have been concentrating on other areas of my system as a result. The Matrix IC’s had a big impact in my setup but you better ask Bob about the length. I dont own a Pass Labs amp but I bet you will be amazed.

Lance
Hi Everyone,
Bob from Cerious. What am I working on? I am working on developing a USB cable, but am trying to deal with the shortcomings of the USB interface. Basically my cables are exposing flaws in the medium that render music "analytical" rather than the organic sound you have come to expect from Cerious and just not a sound I want to listen to for extended periods. The root problem is the +5V going through the cable which is noisy coming from the computer or source device. I have solved this by generating a separate +5V in place of the normal voltage but I have never produced a powered cable before so am working on packaging and despite how pricey the Matrix is I strive for sanity in pricing. Will keep you posted.
My wife has ordered me to upgrade our entire system as we went to a friend's house who has the latest ReacT speakers we made several years ago with analog front end and one of my custom racks that feature reactive damping and Carbon Fiber main structure. She ordered me to buy a top of the line VPI turntable, build us a custom rack, and custom ReacT speakers with subwoofers good to 15 Hertz (she is a bass freak...who knew?). Women can be so demanding! Oh and I need to make us custom amps because she likes to listen to rock concerts at rock concert levels (who knew?). God I love this woman...
So I will be busy for a while so no need to worry that the Matrix will be obsolete anytime soon.
Hugs...and keep warm!
Mid Michigan is closed for snow cold wind. Perfect day for listening. Though only down to 22hz...
The same here in SE MI jl35. Wish my SET amp wasn’t in for repair though.

Poor Bob......has a wife demanding he upgrade his audio system. I wouldn’t have ever dreamed of such a scenario. It’s no wonder Bob loves his wife, I’ve never met her and I do too! 😀🔉
Just wanted to give an update from my post on 1/25/19.
Bob finally got back to me and sincerely apologized for not getting back to me in a timely manner.
I sent Bob my red pc to repair. It was leaking black granules from the plug end. He said he would fix it and return it promptly, which was in early December.
Bob was really gracious and instead of fixing my pc he gave me a new Matrix pc for my troubles. That is going the extra miles for his customers and I really appreciated his generosity.
Thank You Bob, your products are top notch and so is your customer service!

Best,
Joe
Got the Matrix PC in and found I was much happier feeding my P15 regenerator with it over my HF Reveal. Reveal is now feeding the dac and have a Pangea14SE MkII feeding the pre.

One change that came with the Matrix I just don’t understand. Maybe someone has some insight. When listening to what I might call "concert level" the pre output was around 40. This is with the factory cord as well as the HF. With the Matrix, that level is now just over 30. Still drawing the same amps, just a much louder system.

I’d like to look at bringing more of the goodness into my system and looking at a few options with limited funds. I’m thinking that getting PCs for the mono blocks should be next. Question I have with the regenerator clean output and though a 1 meter PC would the extreme blue be a suitable fit or would I be losing to much by not holding out for a pair of Matrix? Those $$ might be then used toward speaker cables or ICs

Any similar experiences?
