@jay23 - I sent a message to him from the website yesterday and have not heard back from him. I don't have any expectations, since I know he is busy.

I wonder how the SS Reference PC would do vs. the Matrix PC? At least the Matrix PC is closer to the price-point and probably a fairer comparison than the GE PC's.
Dave
Agreed - calloway mentioned the GE PC, not the Matrix; hence, the reason for the comment originally.
In looking at the SS website, a 2M Signature PC goes for either $1550 or $1790 (high current version), whereas Bob's Graphene Matrix goes for $1049. I could see a Signature used for around the price of the GM.
However, the SS Music Reference PC goes for either $2985 or $3375 (high current version). That's three times the price of Bob's GM PC's.
Comparing the ~$3K SS Music Reference PC to the ~$300 GE PC - well, if it's not significantly better (or at least somewhat better) at 10X the price.....

@ozzy - I thought the GE XLR interconnects were really good. What improvements are you hearing with the GM XLR interconnects?
Dave
@ozzy - I'll be curious the difference it makes by changing out the power cords for your amps.
Dave
I like that name - Sonic Hologram Projector. In reality, while Bob’s GM prices are definitely a big step above the GE prices, there’s a huge amount of cables out there that are X times more expensive than the GM prices. And, from the feedback here, it seems that Bob’s cables are better, so they present a tremendous value.
Good to see Bob come up for air and post here. I’ve sent him two emails (to purchase a power cord) over the past 8 days without a response. I’m sure he’s busy (although it seems that he’s responding to ozzy :-)
Dave
I would suggest patience - they are definitely busy. Bob always gets back to me - whether right away or a little bit of a wait, and Bob is absolutely terrific to work with - tremendous support and service. Super nice guy and a family business that cares about the product and the customer.

It's amazing how much connectors can affect the sonics. I've even been amazed at the difference between gold, silver, and rhodium connectors. So I'm sure it's a balance of finding connectors that provide great sound, as well as reliability and cost. I'm glad that Bob, who has lots of experience and does this every day, is figuring out this balance and complimenting his cable in the best way possible for us.
Dave
@genjamon - for your Matrix power cord(s), what ends are on the stock cable - gold, silver, rhodium?
Thanks, Dave
Thanks for the responses! I was curious because I've had power cords with rhodium connectors, and I can tell the sonic signature every time. For me, there are some things to like, but other things that kind of bug me. Many love rhodium, but perhaps I'm just a gold or silver connector guy at heart - even for power amps. :-)
Dave
Thanks @genjamon !
Does anyone have the Cerious power cords with different (gold) connectors?
Dave
That is a great question. For me, it seems to have a lot of detail in certain frequencies, but it does not seem even across all frequencies. I sometimes hear dull spots - like it's smoothing it out too much. When you first plug one in, it seems aggressive and almost in your face - not relaxing at all, but then, for me, it settles out to what I described above. Dave |
So, after 20 hours they were really close to the Valhalla. How did they compare to the Valhalla after 130 hours?
Dave
According to Lance, the GM's are better.
Dave
It might help to have some explanation from perfectpathtech, rather than just calling someone out - not a very classy move, even if something is not being conveyed the way they prefer.
Dave
I meant that perfectpathtech was calling out ozzy - not sure why?? If we disagree with something, it's probably better to explain why we disagree with it, rather than just calling it untrue and nonsense - that doesn't help at all.

@bugredmachine
Interesting what you mentioned about Bob convincing you to get the Gold ends on the power cord, rather than the rhodium. I asked a while back about gold vs. rhodium and most of the guys mentioned that they had the rhodium ends. Two questions:
1) You mention - "And Bob convinced me to try the gold power cord over the Rhodium and I am glad I did." I’m curious about you saying that you were glad you did - had you tried a rhodium and found that the gold was better?
2) Did Bob mention why he was convincing you to go with gold ends, instead of rhodium?
Thanks, Dave
Is this your first Matrix PC, or have you had the rhodium version as well? If not, what will you be comparing it to? Looking forward to your thoughts, once you get some time on the Matrix PC.
Dave
Welcome back Robert! Hope you had a nice vacation, you definitely deserve it. Dave
Has anyone tried the new Audioquest Storm series power cords? I just ordered a Hurricane and will be trying it out. Just curious to know if anyone has compared the AQ's to the Matrix cords? Dave
@lancelock
I've been wishing for a while to try a Matrix with gold connections (I've found that I don't like rhodium), so I don't think I'll be able to compare, which is why I was asking. I will let everyone know what I think. I currently have a Cardas Clear Beyond (rhodium ends), Krell Vector HC (rhodium ends), and a custom Wireworld Silver Electra 7 with silver ends (just like the Platinum version). I've also previously had the Kubala Sosna Elation and Emotion PC's. The PC I'm using now is a PC that was custom made by Marcelino Lopez at Celestial Audio/Video in Phoenix, AZ (no longer in business). Dave
I agree completely about the break in! I just received my Audioquest Hurricane yesterday, so I put it on my amp last night. Right off, it sounded like a lot of bass and not very clear. I almost wanted to take it out right away. Sometimes, my mind is telling me - there's no way this thing can improve enough for me to like it. Break in can definitely play with your head. Giving it time.... Dave
I had the Cardas Clear Beyond and sold it. There was much that I liked about it, but the rhodium ends tainted the sound for me (I don’t seem to like rhodium). I’m enjoying my Audioquest Hurricane much much more. I’ve been wanting to try the Matrix with gold ends, but I can’t seem to get one :-)
Dave

Unfortunately, you missed it. The listing was only for one day - Cyber Monday. Did anyone take advantage of this Matrix Power Cord deal? If you did, please share if you are getting the rhodium or the gold ends. Thanks, Dave
Yep. I did the deal. A 20 amp GM PC with gold ends for my amp and a 15 amp GM PC with gold ends for my HT processor. Some fun for the Holidays :-) Dave
I've never had either Kimber or Audio Art, so I'm not much help. I will say that Bob is absolutely wonderful to work with, and you can't go wrong with trying out the Matrix XLR's .
Dave
I sent something yesterday via the contact submission on the website, which can serve as a test. If you didn't get it, then I'll send to your rgrost@gmail.com. Let me know... Thanks,Dave
By the way, for everyone looking here, Bob did respond from the website contact submission, so it seems to be working well. And, it's worth it for those of you thinking about contacting Bob - he's absolutely terrific! Dave
Keep checking with Bob. I believe he does offer a 30 day return. Dave
Does anyone have any Matrix balanced interconnects they want to sell? I need a 2m pair. I basically want to try them and compare them. I should probably just contact Bob to try a pair :-)
Hi Bob! Actually, I think I might want to try speaker cables first. The Matrix power cords are keepers, by the way. Dave
Now that we're into October, the end of the year is coming fast. I'm wondering if Bob will be having any sort of Black Friday sales this year on Graphene Extreme cables?
Dave
I agree that it's strange (and seemingly unfair and inconsistent) that your post is removed, while the post from t_ramey remains.
I have the Matrix PC's already, and I'm probably going to try the Matrix speaker cables next. Dave
I last heard from Bob on Saturday (12/14).
Dave
I very much agree the RGrost is a great guy!!
Question for the guys who have had their Matrix cables for a while: How long does it take for break in on Matrix interconnects and speaker cables, and what have you noticed that changes sonically over the break in period? Thanks,Dave
What's happening guys? I'm seeing removed posts and the post by lak which does not seem to make sense without the other posts.
Is everyone enjoying the Matrix cables from Bob's Holiday special? Dave
Wow! I haven't been here for a while. Glad you pulled through Bob! I definitely agree that life is a blessing.
Looking forward to hearing more about the speakers!
