How much does your system retail for?

$23,000 - $24,000 I estimate. (Two channel, this does not include TV, VCR, etc.)

Please, keep the exagerations to a minumum, do not count CD's, equipment you have bought and sold, is packed away that you don't use anymore, etc..

Put the total first so it shows up at the begining of your post.

This is just for fun and curiosity of the diversity on here, don't take it to seriously. Simply evaluate what the retail value of your system is.

$24,000 with another 8 grand in bits scattered around the pad.
I hate myself, and I hate the person who started this thread.
It was $499. for my Bose Wave Radio/CD, but I did get free shipping. I'm planning to upgrade the PC and install solar power, so I can get rid of that ugly orange 100' extention cord that goes to the generator.
Let's see, about $11,000 retail. Actual cost more like $7,500, which is about 68% of retail. Wow, not bad. I'm glad I took the time to do this. Makes me feel much better, although it won't help convince my significant other.
Well, let's see if I fold my johnson, then I will be more competitive!I'm up yo $45,000.However,that includes a $15,000 50" plasma monitor and my system will stay 2 channel, for fear that in 2 years I will wake up 1 night in a terrible sweat to see if my 22 multi-channel system is still downstairs.
1st 2 channel system retails for $21K including cables and tweaks. I paid $13K(all hardware demos) and now I've got the analog bug. Gotta make the Quads hum don't you know!!!!!!!!!

2nd 2 channel system retails for $9K paid about $4K(Hardware all B stock and audiogon deals).
Interesting to read all this. I've spent around 11-12 k, or no, I should say: my current system costs around 11-12 k, but I have spent more. Funny thing is, it took me around 20 years to get to this, and Ì don't think I will spent much more (even if I could afford it, which I don't.....). But, in a small attempt to make my johnson a bit longer, I think the software part (cd/lp) is worth around 25 k. Now am I allowed to join the club? :)
Have spent $12,653 including racks, tubes, tweaks (everything listed in my "system". Retail is $30,278.
About $15K for my 2 ch main system; $3k for HT; and about $2.5k for a 2ch home-brewed tube system( bdrm).

$9000 for 2-ch (actually paid $6700) and another $2800 for HT. I'm guesstimating $17000 for cd's and LPs.

This thread has been a fun read. I was surprised at the number of individuals that have $100,000+ systems. Believe me, if I had that kind of coin, I'd be right there with you guys.

My only regret in spending about 21K is that I didn't spend it sooner so I would be enjoying this equiptment for a larger precentage of my life
2chanel system 29k, Home theater 19k, thanks brian
you open my eyes and my nerve, this excluding used
gear just when I am starting,15 years ago.I was about
to give you the detai of my equipment, psss but
my wife just about to enter the room, I have to go...
Marty76 - that's both audio AND HT?! I'm not sure i believe you. sorry but i'm not as stupid as i look. i paid twice that and i'm only starting to glimpse audio nirvana. but ah...so nice.
Man, after reading the posts, i dunnno if i wanna say!
Everything was bought new. Some deals.

Paid about 7,500, retails for just under 10k.

Man... what the hell do you people do for a living? Whatever it is, i want to do that!

Brainwater! My God man! thats a hell of a setup! Hats off to you!
Home theater, $7,500.00, all bought new. Wish i knew of Audiogon earlier, it would probably be all used and retail for 15k

2 Channel setup, i dunno. I havent bought one yet. thats my current project.

Im only 26 though, and have been finacialy able to enjoy this hobby for maybe 3 years. Now i live with my Girlfriend who goes to massage school full time so i carry a bulk of the bills. Once she graduates in december, its time to focus on the 2 channel setup
Around 30K. Boy, money flies when you're having fun. I will stop this madness rightnow, uhm.., that's right after I get the Hydra line conditioning thingy.
Retail: $4700, paid $2300 used

That's for:

CDP/Pre/Power/Speakers (+ assorted cables)
Rotel/Marsh/Belles/B&W

It's constantly changing as I buy and sell all the time.

- But think I'm close to a point where I can stop the constant upgrade-itis and just enjoy the music :)
This is my second system. In the first I had about $4000 invested. Since Sept 2002 I have spent a little over $17,000. It doesn't seem possible! In fact I am certain I probably forgot a few tweaks. Oh well!! Never stop upgrading! All this Audiophile appetite started when I was 13 (Heathkits) and now I am 60. This hobby of ours is extreemly addictive. Yes?
well its hard to say after 5 systems and 3 home theater systems. just about 120k.there are 3 listing rooms for my 2 channel systems and 3 home theater rooms. of course i do not have any kids and spend my life collecting audio equipment which i never sell.just keep adding and changing amps cd player ect..... new formats. every time i change a piece of audio equiment it changes the sound of my system. so i never get bord. i am a sick freak. they call us audiophiles. even in this world of uncertainty when all else fails you can go and sit in you room and float away with your music.so all you new comers beware of this disease.it never ends until you do!!!!
My Martin Logan SL3 for $1600, Bag-end infrasub for $1000, Pioneer Elete DVD for $300 (retail $1200). The rest of my gear is low end that will be replaced. I promised myself that I will never become a gearphile!
It's the thread that won't go away! I am just over 30,000, but I think the Soundlabs or Wilson Watt/Puppies I want to buy this summer will add a significant amount to that!
how much is that doggie in the window.....i have a repair shop and i don't have hardly anything anymore that i've...paid for. i pd for parts to fix most of it, other than that...humm. i have everything from a 15w rca console to 100 watt mono blocks. i play guitar & have a small bedroom studio, mostly filled with stuff i just ran into. what''s it's worth...oh my. what we need here is a audio estimater. it'd be a great device that someone would make and sell to the public, it'd break and i'd have 3 or 4 of them. careful....it's a jungle out there......
This totals 11.5k. My current system is the nicest I've ever owned. I'm a twenty year old S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo student. I own a Sony CDP X77ESD ($1800 retail (paid $900)), Perpetual Technologies' P1A, P3, & P3A (~$2000), Illuminations D-60 ($200), Revelation Silver Is2 ($400), Sony TA-E77ESD Preamp ($500 used), 2 Adcom 5400's ($750 each), Monster Cable (~$100), a/d/s l-1290's ($1500 per pair), a/d/s l-1590's ($2600 per pair), Sony K-890es tape deck ($600), Sony STR-730es tuner ($250), Sony DTC-75esd ($900). This totals 11.5k
Somewhere around 15K, pure stereo, no HT stuff. Some is fairly old so hard to say what comparable new would be.
Only $7600. Thankfully, I bought most of my gear used, otherwise I could have never afforded it. Full-replacement value would be at least twice that amount.
Only $7,500 (pre-owned) for amazing sound. 2 Van Alstine Omega IIs, Van A's fet valve preamp, Marchand Elec. vacuum tube crossover, Canton RC-As, and a cheap Sony SACD player. I'm now looking to "blow" half as much again on a top-o-the-line SACD player (Sony SACD1 maybe). Yeah, I'm hooked on the new format :-)
Ain't that the truth Bill, but its going to sound GREAT!!! And after all can you put a price on your enjoyment?
So much that if I told the truth, I'd be embarassed or institutionalized. With the addition of the room cost and the speaker cost, I unfortunately may have won the stupidity race.

Bill E.
When any of you guys do a Garage Sale, let me know, please! Guess i need to post: a humble $3K, Man, do i have a long way to go!! I could probably spend another 2K speakers(Seas Thor), 4K digital(Jadis), 8K amp(Jadis), system i'll die with.
