Shostakovich...WHOA
Get the historic recording released by Chandos of the 1960's recording by the legendary Borodin String Quartet, they recorded these 3 times, with a few changes in 1 violinist, but its this first recording that is amazing. Not sure, but someone at ...
Mozart Piano Concerto 21.
I've heard a few comments here "Oistrakh not my favorite, or first choice...". I could certainly point you in the direction of some recordings of Oistrakh that would change your opinion very quickly. I own just about everything in print of Oistrak...
Has anyone else noticed this about Mozart ....
Sean, listen to Mozart's operas, performed with finesse and talent, they are a great laugh and enjoyment. Genius! As for the wonderful piano concerti, give the phenomenol #25 a listen. Quite unusal power that builds up and explodes in the final mo...
dynamic classical which isn't boring?
Check out Sibelius Lemminkinnen Suites, the 4 Legends. If you find that "boring"..????
Mozart Sym 41:reviews/opinions
Megasam, you may want to consider the Klemperer/Philharmonia over the Szell. Recently I received a used copy of the Levine/Vienna and Levine/Chicago, 3's 40+41. Tempo is beefed up over the walter/Columbia, but the Columbia is a superior orchestra ...

Jadis Symphonia CD Player

My name is.....and I am a compliationaholic.
Stop wondering, because you are correct. The orginal albums do have a layout that "works", as well its the way we remember it. Much more important is THE FACT (refer to my post on the "are remasters worth buying?" thread, below) ...THE FACT that r...
'Last CD Player' search
younkman, just curious, why have you NOT included the Jadis 3 (tube and ss versions) in your possibilities???
Which remasters to pickup?
Keep in mind remasters lose an intergrative sound, that the originals have. You may hear a few notes you hardly hear on the original. Honestly I can't stand hearing "remasters". Its the old saying, "new is not always better". My favorites, like Ch...
Chopin nocturnes
Heard some Chopin/Moravec, much more prefer Ashkanazy. Goes for the preludes as well.
Chopin nocturnes
Moravec on Chopin is definetly worth checking out. Just got in Mozart PC #20+23 Moravec/Marriner, the performance is stunning. Moravec performs on Mozart just as Rushton describes. Each note is heard distinctly, with poetic feeling, without doubt ...
Chopin nocturnes
Ashkanazy and Pollini are both outstanding Chopin performers. Pollini does not have a complete Nocturne, a few are on his "must-have" piano concerto recording with Kletiz conducting. But will recommend his 3 cd Chopin set(Etudes etc),recording son...
Good site for hard to find classical used and new
Yes GEMM on new are expensive, but the out of print(cd's) prices are reasonable if its a "must-have" recording, as well some vinyl are low priced.(maybe condition??) But my main source of classical is Tower, for the wonderful offering of the 1 min...
