聖HIJIRI Users thread

Based on a discussion with another forum member, I've been reading up on this Comback Corporation brand. The reviews I've found have been pretty positive, but I've also learned over the years to take all reviews with a grain of salt. So the purpose of this thread is for users to share their input on 聖HIJIRI cables. When you share, if you'd discuss what model of HIJIRI you demoed and what brands/models they were compared to, that'd be very helpful.

A little background: a few years ago I was reading the Audio Envy threads and decided to give them a try as the seemed to compete with much higher-priced cable.  So I decided to give AE a try. I found both the $179 P2 and the $279 M3 to easily best an Isotek power cord at $1k. So that got me thinking even more about value products. I was about to give Zavfino a try and then was given another recommendation to give HIJIRI a try. So this is how I got here. I'll be very interested to hear all user comments on HIJIRI and this should be a good repository for the brand.

Here is their website: www.combak.net

@rareace

Looking forward to your feedback, which component in your system you’re planning to try Takumi 匠 Maestro PC?

@rareace

I am using IsoTek Optimum only on my Sigmas power conditioner. Using Audio Envy on my preamp (P2) and amp (M3) and Nordost Frey 2 on my source. Audio Envy, for me, is much much better than the Optimum, no contest. Planning to try Hijiri this year.

Will be very interested to hear about your audition with Takumi.

Just ordered the Takumi PC to try in my system.

@pokey77 Which Isotek cable did you have? I'm running the Optimums in my system which I preferred over some upper tier AQ offerings.

“I completely understand if one had a few glasses of wine or some shots of some fine Tennessee bourbon though!”

@tyray

Friday’s are all about Jazz (Scott Hamilton) and 18 Years Old Macallan 🥃

Prices seem to increase almost every year. I think for an accurate price you would have to contact Colin King of Gestalt Audio Design.

Just read some of the reviews from the Hijiri site and translated some of the pricing to US dollars and for the HCI 1m rca pair it’s around $950. Anybody know is this still the price? The review was from 2018 I believe..

@tyray you are correct.  I work in architectural manufacturing and what I meant by the word fabricating was gathering the required source materials and then making the part or parts, or in this case, the cable.

@grannyring , yes, it was not accurate for me to say that the Hijiri cables are vastly outperforming the competition.  They appear to be handcrafted and are able to offer a unique presentation to music.

@lalitk,

Easy there big fella, I did not take @fai_v question as being negative at all. Fabricating/fabrication does not always mean an invention of a non truth.

I work in construction as a draftsman and the words fabricating or fabrication are used all the time. They too mean to construct or manufacture something, especially an industrial product produced in a shop or the field from some sort of plan or detail.

Almost everything built is from some sort of fabrication process, including our audio gear. And if you read what grannyring wrote, he actually took the time to explain to @fai_v the fabricating process of building cable from stock parts.

One of the things I respect about Bill is not the fact that he has audio knowledge I admire, but how he treats people. He try’s very hard to be civil to everyone and take the time to teach. We would all do well to follow his example.

Does this mean I’m some what of a pushover? No but the typed word can be taken wrong as opposed to talking to someone face to face. Or even on the phone.

We are to old for this, and everyday someone who used to be here on agon has gone on...Let’s enjoy this hobby.

Now, albeit I completely understand if one had a few glasses of wine or some shots of some fine Tennessee bourbon though!☺

@grannyring

Well said! I stopped reading the post after this comment 😂

“How are they fabricating these interconnects that they are so vastly outperforming the competition?

Not sure it is accurate to say they “ are vastly outperforming the competition”. Competition is a great big universe of brands and none of us have heard them all. Also, Hijiri is marked by a certain beauty of flow, tone and purity that will appeal to many, but perhaps others will want more of this or that other sonic attribute. The whole subjective thing comes into play. I will say they must be heard to find out if they “do it” for you like others have experienced.

Cable making is every bit an art also. Two cooks may be given the very same ingredients and asked to prepare the same dish. Both can taste very different. Cable building with like materials is the same. The Hijiri designer is skilled with the ingredients he uses. This is also a piece of the Hijiri “magic” as it should be. Can’t read about this in specs etc….

My speaker cables appear to be high purity, solid core copper.  The connectors are very high quality, but I don’t know if they are made internally.  The Nagomi power cord is very flexible suggesting stranded conductors.

There are many online reviews to be found on his offerings.

I'm trying to find some more info on the HIJIRI technology in the cables but can't find any.  How are they fabricating these interconnects that they are so vastly outperforming the competition?  I've heard of other brands making low capacitance connectors which can help.  Also, Audio Envy interconnects claim a very low capacitance for the whole interconnect.

But how is HIJIRI rising above these other brands?

If you can afford the Hijiri interconnects that would be the way to go in my opinion. The Zavfino is very good for the money but the Hijiri is in a different league.

I have not compared the double helix builds I made to Zavfino ICs.  Never tried Zavfino ICs.  I only trialed a Zavfino Majestic power cord.

The Hijiri ICs were better in every sonic parameter, but as you know they are significantly more money.

@grannyring , how would you compare a set of well-made DIY Helix Air RCA interconnects, to either the HIJIRI or Zavfino?

I found the most improvement on my Puritan 156 conditioner. Next in terms of level of impact was my integrated amp. Then came the dac and finally my server. This was my experience with my particular gear and system.

Wow! And Puritan supplies it’s own quality power cord.

Does anyone know if the 聖HIJIRI cables/power cords are burned in prior to shipping? If so, what duration? As this knowledge would help out a lot with the mentioned earlier 14 day trial period if one wanted to return power cords.

@grannyring Perfect, I was looking for a good PC to power my power conditioner or an extension bar fed from my conditioner, just the job. Thank you.

I have one on my conditioner, integrated amp, music server and dac.   I find the Nagomi works well on all the above! I noticed nice sonic improvements in each position.  I found the most improvement on my Puritan 156 conditioner.   Next in terms of level of impact was my integrated amp.  Then came the dac and finally my server.  This was my experience with my particular gear and system.

@grannyring Thanks buddy I agree $5k+ is not what I would want to spend either. I'll probably give the Nagomi's a try. Do you find they are better suited to power applications or pre-amps,servers and DACs? Appreciated.

@lordmelton , my decision was purely financial.  The Takumi is close to 4x the price and that is simply far above my budget.

@grannyring I would like to ask why you went for the Nagomi cables as opposed to the more expensive Takumi PCs?

Was it purely financial or didn't you think the cost/reward was enough?

I understand the Nagomi is $1350/m. How much is the Takumi?

I bought many of their Harmonix isolation products many years ago and they've served me well.

Selling an item new is a dealer’s option to send out demos or trial units. It would probably help sales, especially with a relatively new item from an unknown brand.

I have tried and bought many items that way.

And... if you buy or sell an item used it is typically at 50% off and there would be info available, so you take your chances.

@ozzy

Why would a Audio Dealer ship a $5000 or even a $1000 cable to anyone without charging them upfront? Thats not a responsible business owener.

Would you do that?

Ozzy when you sell your cables on the used market, would you offer a FREE TRIAL? No payment upfront

Im talking speaker cable lalitk...yeah modwright is running 200 aside fwiw.Thanks for your experience.

@digsmithd

I found Majestic MKII to be the sweet spot in Zavfino lineup. Prima is good for power hungry amps or power conditioner. For low power components, Majestic should be more than adequate :-)

Thanks guys for reply’s...point takin and i agree...no discouragement here my friend...and pride...lol,they are made well me being the neurotic guy i am for detail.Its been fun and a pain in the arse doing the diy speaker cables.Got rid of my last bit of wire/ic’s too.

Ill most likely love the zavfino primo for my modest system.

@digsmithd

Sorry I didn’t mean to discourage anyone who wants to build their own cables…there is this sense of pride and accomplishment that you wont get from buying XYZ brand. I’ve been down that road with Furutech, DH Labs…lol! If one enjoys building cables, cool. The point i was making is this, for the price / performance you get from Zavfino cables, it makes very little or no sense to go through the trouble of building your own cables.

@lalitk @digsmithd : I stopped using “my endgame” a while ago 😜

In all seriousness @digsmithd , as Lalit said, and other people who do DIY cables (and high quality cables) have said in the past, it’s hard to match Zavfino quality/ cost ratio for those prices. Let alone your labor / time. Can they bettered by other cables? Of course! But again, you and I can only do what we are comfortable with.

I appreciate your thoughts guy's...lol...I can live with what i have done with my diy and they are’nt bad.I am sure the design and performance/occ,ect of the zav’s cables is probably worth the extra investment/time and will most likely go that route.thx.

@digsmithd

As you said…this level of cable would most likely represent my last. HIJIRI top level cables are what I consider ‘end game’ cables. Honestly, don’t waste your money on DIY cables, it is very unlikely to surpass the very high level of build quality and performance of Zavfino cables.

...I like to read what diy guys are up to.I trust there judgment on a different level,i’ll bet these do sound wonderful...got me evaluating my lol "endgame" as they say.

I had sold what to me were my more expensive cables this summer and wanted to try some of the usual diy budget stuff...I have been looking at the zavfino and yes they are in a comfort zone that i can do without guilt...this level of cable would most likely represent my last...

“Well my Hijiri distributor has only had the brand since last december, that’s why he doesn’t have them on loan yet.”

@thieliste

Your dealer should have no trouble in procuring HIJIRI cables for home audition as long as both parties are willing and motivated. I know, I can get any HIJIRI cable to my door within 7-10 days.

Good luck with the trial!

@thyname

What do you mean? Can you use Google Translate this time around?

It’s really very tough to understand anything you write.

It is ineffable…

laltik,

We have been through this. Colin is not offering a trial/loaner etc.

You must pay for the item FIRST! If you don't like it then you go through whatever refund process that is offered.

It's not the same thing as a loaner!

Please get this straight!

ozzy

It seem guy beat it off over Zavino with this cable even more.

What do you mean? Can you use Google Translate this time around?

It’s really very tough to understand anything you write.

Well my Hijiri distributor has only had the brand since last december, that's why he doesn't have them on loan yet.

“yes i found a distributor in my country but he doesn’t have them on loan”

That’s unfortunate and bit disappointing that dealer in your area is not willing to offer loaners or trials for serious buyers. Now I do feel very fortunate to have the trial flexibility here in mainland and it’s only appropriate to acknowledge Colin @gestalt for his flexibility, understanding and superb customer service.

Hi guys thanks, yes i found a distributor in my country but he doesn't have them on loan so that's pretty difficult to make a decision without trying in my system.

He gave me the phone number of one of his customers who purchased Hijiri cables from him, i will give him a call.
