DIY Amp

Looking for a good tube amp kit

I have built a few solid state class A DIY kits now looking for new project.

Any suggestions

Prefer monoblock design push/pull design

But might consider 300B mono's

Thanks

Another option are the kits by Triode Electronics out of Chicago.  Basically modern Dynacos from the ST35 and ST70 up to the Mk III amps. See https://store.triodestore.com/ampsandgear.html

The Elekit looks like a very promising project and the pedigree looks good

Thanks for the link

Hello ecpninja!  As the happy owner of an EleKit TU-8600R, I am sure you would be happy with it. Get the version with the fancy output transformers etc. It is not cheap but it is often talked about by reviewers and performs extemely well. Put a Telefunken 12AX7 in the input tube socket and be amazed. Use efficient speakers. 90 watts is only 10db louder than 9 watts. 10 db isn't all that much unless you are trying to break a lease or get your wife to leave you. Happy building!

Bottlehead?

They offer 2A3 mono's and a 300B that can be done as  mono also I believe.

Nice kits and a great support community!

I haven't built one but it's got very good reviews by those who did.

+ 1 for the Tubes4hifi kit. I built my VTA ST-120 about 4 years ago, and still own it to this day and love it.....note this is the only tube amplifier I've owned. I now just have to install it back into my system, with my solid state gear. I built mine with the optional capacitor upgrade, and the stepped atenuator.

I have mine with Phillips 5R4GY rectifier that I like better than GZ37s or RCA NOS tubes. Power tubes are Tung Sol KT-120 power tubes, and roll various 6DJ8, 5963, 5814, 12AU7, 6922, etc - NOS Pre Amp/signal tubes.....believe I'm getting somewhere near 70+ WPC with the KT-120s.

Kit has great instructions and wiring diagrams (color coded), and was incredibly easy to follow. Fun project with a great amp, that is a tube rollers delight.

I did an Audio Note kit 4.1 deluxe dac a few years ago. Had a bad experience with replacing a faulty board so I am leary about plunking down 3500 for their mono block tube kit

Looked at M125 but have read some -ve reviews  also some +ve reviews too.

Was I was thinking of picking up an old dynaco and upgrading like Will Vincent does.

 I admire his work

Tubes4Hifi.com has the VTA amps ST70, ST120, ST35, and M125 monoblocks. I’ve built two of the VTA 70 pcb mods into my old Dyna 70s, and got great results and good support.
